1. The word of the Lord came to me, saying: 2. Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy, and say unto the shepherds, Thus saith the Lord God: Woe unto the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not shepherds feed the sheep? 3. You eat fat, and clothe yourselves with wool; you kill the barley; but do not feed the sheep. 4. The weak you have not strengthened, the sick you have not healed, the broken you have not called, the lost you have not brought again, and the lost you have not sought; but you rule over them with rigor and hardness. 5. So they spread, because there was no shepherd; and they became pasture to all the wild beasts of the field, because they were scattered. 6. My sheep have gone astray in every mountain, and in every high hill; yea, my sheep were scattered over all the face of the earth, and there was no one looking for them, or looking for them. 7. Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: 8. As I live, saith the Lord God, because my sheep have been given over to the prey, and my sheep have come to pasture to all the wild beasts of the field, for lack of a shepherd, and my shepherds have not sought out my sheep , for they have pastured themselves, and have not pastured my sheep; 9. therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: 10. Thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I am against the shepherds; at their hands will I require my sheep, and will cause them to stop feeding the sheep, so that they feed themselves no more. I will deliver my sheep out of his mouth, so that they no longer serve them as pasture. 11. For thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I myself will seek out my sheep, and will seek them. 12. As a shepherd seeks his flock in the day when he is among his scattered sheep, so will I seek my sheep. I will deliver them from all the places where they were scattered, in the day of clouds and darkness. 13. Yea, I will bring them out of the peoples, and gather them from the countries, and bring them into their land, and feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the streams, and in all the inhabited places of the Earth. 14. I will feed them in good pastures, and in the high mountains of Israel it will be their corral; they will lie down there in a good corral, and will graze on fat pastures in the mountains of Israel. 15. I myself will feed my sheep, and I will make them rest, saith the Lord God. 16. The lost I will seek, and the lost I will bring again; the broken I will bind, and the sick I will strengthen; and the fat and the strong will watch. I will feed them justly. 17. As for you, my sheep, thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I will judge between sheep and sheep, between rams and goats. 18. Is it not enough for you to be satisfied with the good pasture, but that you tread the rest of your pastures at your feet? and drink the clean waters, lest ye foul the rest with your feet? 19. And my sheep shall eat what ye have trodden, and drink what ye have soiled with your feet. 20. Therefore, the Lord God says to them: Behold, I myself will judge between the fat sheep and the thin sheep. 21. For with your side and shoulder you push, and with your horns you gore all the weak, till you scatter them out, 22. therefore will I save my sheep, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between sheep and sheep. 23. And I will raise up over them one shepherd to feed them, my servant David. He will feed them, and serve them as a shepherd. 24. And I, the LORD, will be their God, and my servant David will be prince among them; I the Lord said it. 25. I will make with them a covenant of peace; and I will remove the evil beasts from the earth, so that they shall dwell in safety in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods. 26. And from them and from the places round about my hill will I make a blessing; and I will bring down the rain in its time; showers of blessings will be. 27. And the trees of the field will bear their fruit, and the land will give its newness, and they will be safe in its land; they will know that I am the Lord, when I break the yoke of their yoke and deliver them from the hand of those who used them. 28. For they shall no longer be a prey to the Gentiles, Nor shall the beasts of the earth devour them any more; but they will surely dwell, and none will scare them away. 29. Also I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall no more be consumed by famine in the land, neither shall they bear the reproach of the nations any more. 30. But they shall know that I, the Lord their God, am with them, and that they are my people, the house of Israel, saith the Lord God. 31. You, my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord God. (Ezekiel, 34)
