The funny thing is He Who Remains already knows what's going to happen, at least when something happens that lets him know where he's at in the timeline. These are just his genuine reactions, because he's technically doing the same thing Loki is, time slipping. He has to react in these ways in order to have genuine conversations, because he's guiding things the way he wants with time slipping. He needs to tell Loki to do it another thousand times to get his bearings, because he doesn't know yet if the Loki he's dealing with is the one that has done that yet. Then when he does know, he knows what he wants to focus on next to progress things, because it's all about paving a path for Loki to take over and become his replacement.
In the actual show he smiles and nods in approval actually. That's the version of Loki he was waiting for when he originally said "go through this a couple thousand more times, get your bearings." This one HAD gone through that a couple thousand times and had his bearings.
Well what do you expect. He's using Tech. Loki is just being .. Loki, controlling time himself with no artifacts whatsoever. And that makes him very powerful indeed, on the same scale as the Time Stone

No. That's what he's over now. Thor said : brother you just want to remain the same . Life is about growth and change. Loki saw every version of him broken and never accepting the change and always betraying , backstabbing and killing. He's grown over those things and he became the person to sacrifice his own freedom and happiness for the sake of the multiverse. I hope marvel does not just kill Kang because of real world issue a recasting would be fine as long as they find someone who can act like Kang
What I like to believe is that it was actually the first time they had that conversation, but Loki was so confident in his abilities that he had the courage to call him out because there was no reason Kang would know if it was the first time or the thousandth time
I love how at the end there isn't even any satisfaction during the villains defeat, no moment where he realizes he f*cked up and a goodbye from the audience. His plan just never comes to fruition and he just never comes back.
Did he fail? HWR wanted Loki to take over, he was done with it. It may not have gone didn’t exactly to plan (or perhaps it did) but HWR eventually got what he wanted.
I think the plan was for Loki to take over exactly like he did so he could have some fun, but instead Loki completely freed the timelines and is just bringing life to the ones who died in the loom.

@@ApexGaleWell that vant have been his plan because if thats all he wanted he couldve scooped Loki right off the timeline, gave him control of the TVA, and retired. He deliberately manipulated events so that Loki would have to learn time powers and be unable to kill Sylvie due to love. He clearly wants more than something he couldve had in S1E1 without all the twists and turns.
He was and he wasn't. Pretending to be dumb so people will reveal more of their plans is a very effective tactic, and Loki used it here marvelously to goad HHR to play more of his hand. What he learned crossed more options off his list, leaving him at only two. Either kill Sylvie and prevent the crash, or crash it himself, and save everyone. We see which option he picked.

This is a well drafted piece. He had the greatest power and he could have just chosen to stay in the only existing timeline (sacred timeline) but chose to sustain every other branch in order to keep the ones he cared about alive (Sylvie, Mobius, Oroboros).
And he wasn’t so happy after realizing how good to have caring people around you God of loneliness He only show a little smile as relief that everyone can live a full life at least
I like how they kinda symbolize the kang variants stutter when there is somebody stronger than them around (maybe accidental but still, its pretty cool)

I mean he's the one who set Loki on this path, idk if it was on purpose or inadvertent to put loki on the path that would give him his time slipping ability but I feel like it's too much a coincidence if it wasn't intentional.
@@ThePartisan13 He does say quite explicitly that he wants Loki to take over at the end of season 1. Learning how to time slip would be a necessary ability for Loki to have to be able to do that. Being able to do it with magic instead of technology is definitely next level though. For all of his knowledge and experience HWR still needed a doodad to do it.
He Who Remains was using devices. Loki was using himself. He Who Remains did not know or forgot that the people from the realm of Ausguard are physically advanced enough that most of their technology is controlled mentally and that they themselves can provide part of the power that their technology uses to work.
@@oldtimefarmboy617yeah even though the tempad is basically the power Loki has, he’s always going to be faster on the draw. Loki can just snap his fingers, while HWR has to activate the tempad to stop time and do all the time hax. HWR can obviously say he paved the road and knew what was going to happen, but by doing that he made Loki more powerful than him. I guess he really didn’t care as long as there was still someone to watch over everything. Either that or he’s just like, ha now you have to deal with all my infinite destructive variants.
I like the storytelling done via body language. When HWR sees Loki pause time, he readjusts his robes and sits up straight. He's no longer talking to someone who doesn't understand the weight of time - this is a Loki who has been through thousands of years like he has. So the gloves finally come off.
Oh. Nope. Just re-watched the Season 1 finale. The fireplace is clearly visible during Loki's fight with Sylvie. That said - the season 1 version of the scene was darker than I remembered. So I think you were partially right. I think the gaffers added more motivated light to the scene. Cuz yeah - during that whole chitchat with HWR in Season 1 - you really can't tell there's a fire at all until the camera moves for the fight.
It's such a shame about the Jonathon Majors situation because I actually really liked him as HWR. He gave the character this really odd and quirky persona, that made him really believable for his position which was definitely exaggerated when he played Victor Timely. I've always thought a godlike being at the top of the foodchain would surely experience a loneliness unlike anyone else could and this combined with millenia of stimulus would leave their mind very warped. The way he acts as HWR is kinda like that feeling when you're delirious from lack of sleep and everything feels really funny and silly to you.
This show is not at all what I had in mind when I started watching a show about Loki. Feels like it could've been anyone but him in this whole scenario but it was very good anyway.
This is what I agree with. To me it doesn't actually feel Loki. In my mind I don't see Loki in him, but the premise was still amazing, and Tom's performance It's just not the same character for me
@@Najemniczkas I think the only mistake they made was having this be the Loki at the end of the first Avengers movie. He basically goes through his character development by watching it on a screen in the TVA. If they some how could have made it the Loki after Thor Ragnarok, just before he dies to Thanos, it would have felt like a more natural progression.
I love also how Kang/HWR uses some kind of tech to manipulate time, regardless of his immense power, completely stopping time isn’t something he can just do. But Loki? A literal flick of the wrist is all it takes

Either he just forseen that and claimed that all his doing or he actually make situation where loki would eventually learn the skill himself. Regardless it is Loki ability from Loki himself. Hwr uses tech to manipulate time and doesn't seem to be able to give other abilities except by sharing technology, timepad for example. Loki ability however seem organic, and magic like in nature.

yeah I agree, I think people give the MCU too much shit, imo a good amount of what they make is still ok at least, but people are expecting everything to be a master piece so when it's not they shit on it.
Man, it is a damned shame that Majors got kicked out of the MCU. His acting was phenomenal as Kang. Every version of Kang he played was so different in mannerisms
@@maverickmurphy I agree, but to be honest I'd imagine the decision was due to a combination of both Majors' antics and the audience's waning interest in the MCU. Quantumania was their big opportunity to reignite some excitement and they fudged it pretty hard, so they might've just decided to go back to the drawing board and come back with a completely new angle

Hi, everyone. I have never watched anything from marvel movies/serials. But after seeing hundreds edits of Loki becoming hero (also Tony Stark(?) becoming a future villain(?) and Thanos killing his daughter) I’ve become very interested in his history and his relationship with Thor and marvel hero’s/villains in general if they’re are all connected and now want to watch everything from the beginning in the right order. If it’s not difficult, can someone please write the right order of all the films in marvel universe? Thank you so much in advance! Sorry for my English😅
What's with the edited version of this scene? There's a shocking number of people in the comments who thought that HWR being flabbergasted was his actual reaction to Loki stopping time but it's not. He was reacting to Loki saying "We die with the dying. We're born with the dead."
Loki has always been more powerful than HWR. Dude is just a human lol 😂. HWR’s variants are running wild in the multiverse. The best Loki could do was buy time for the cosmos to find another way to stop him.
HWR is still more power because he already knew everything that would happen and knew what Loki had to become. In the end he still knows the out come and knows what will happen at the very end.

@@jbmtjoy Its really difficult to explain, but he learned to control time like He Who Remains. Since Loki was stuck in a time loop he had to get out of. And Loki won over him in the end by being able to use his powers. You better just watch the series. Its easily the best marvel series out there

This isn’t out Loki if you remember. This is the avengers Loki going through his own journey. The Loki we know that died didn’t have such abilities or was in aware he did. After all Loki gain this power after an epiphany
Yeah, just that this Loki ist the one that went away with the Tesseract in Endgame, when the Avengers messed it up while travelling back in time. The Loki that got killed by Thanos is a different one in a different timeline.
@@RegressorJin, technically, this is "our" Loki, too. Both Lokis are the real Loki, the guy from THOR and THE AVENGERS. It's just that, at some point, that guy was split into two separate but identical beings. One went back to Asgard, and the other went to the TVA. But they are both original Loki.

The one in the series isn’t our original but a variant. One he stepped off the original path he could no longer be called the “original”

He gave away his time powers to wait until the moment Loki FINALLY caught up with him. IT was ALL calculated. Just because he didn’t know. when that moment would be doesn’t mean anything
