Well, at least this is in canon with Norse mythology. Loki shapeshifted into all kinds of things - including a mare. A mare who proceeded to get impregnated by a stallion. And then gave birth to Odin's horse Slepnir. That said, I don't believe for a second that this is why they included it.

Also this female Loki seems to incorporate elements of the Enchantress, another well known Thor villain who hasn't gotten a proper live action adaptation yet, with her usual henchman Skurge ending up working for Hela instead. Thats why shes blonde

You know I like cloaks and robes with hoods, but lately I’ve really realized why they’re included in shows. It’s just for concealment for the audience and then to do the “reveal” scene, then the cloak hoods go away.

For the people who say "Loki was a woman in the comics and in the mythology too". Nope. Loki is a man. In the comics, and in legend. He is a shapeshifter, but that does not make him into a woman. Or a fish. Or a horse. He's a man who changes what he looks like temporarily to fit some pragmatic need. Shapeshifters tend to have an original shape. Hence why they are shapeshifters. They shift their TRUE FORM to something else. If they didn't have an original shape they wouldn't be able to shift it, now would they? Loki isn't a bodyless mass of energy who takes any form he wishes. Loki is a human looking male. And he only shapeshifts if the shape he takes on has some pragmatic use to him. "female Loki" is no more a thing than "male Mystique" is. Saying that Loki is a woman is like saying that Loki actually became Sif or Captain America when he took on their form. Trying to say he's "gender-fluid" is even worse. Stop trying to justify their bullshit.

Female loki could be in fact Enchanteress. She's credited as Valerie in some countries so it makes sense.

Female Loki is the Hero of this show not Loki . That's why they played "I need a Hero" in that first fight scene . The TVA is the big bad in this show . Lady Loki is going to restore Free will to the Universe and out of the hands of the evil space Lizards .

I knew they would somehow bring female Loki into it. I know it's canon..but even Thor turning into a frog is canon. Just because it's canon doesn't mean it's good.

To be fair, loki has been a woman and has gotten pregnant and had "children" before.

I feel like some of these scenes dragged on for just a BIT too long. Like the tent scene and the explanation about duplicate casting. Maybe the duplicate casting will come into play later but still, a bit too long. Also I I find if annoying that everyone seems capable of bodying Loki. Loki is a Frost giant. Surely he's stronger than regular humans yes? I gave it a pass in the first episode when he was knocked around because maybe TVA agents are just that strong. But in this episode regular humans who is just being mind controlled were beating Loki up. That doesn't sit well with me. Like I understand that Loki isn't as strong as Thor but he DOES have super strength. At least he's suppose to. And I knew the Lady Loki reveal was coming but come on. She doesn't even LOOK like a Loki. Looks more like an Enchantress than a Loki. Maybe that's going to be a twist idk. But I feel rn this was terrible casting. Should have at least made her hair black. If this Loki was the same as the one from the comics I wouldn't mind them being genderfluid. Because in the comics Loki can shape shift and he did it constantly. It's not surprising to me that someone who shape-shifts constantly might have trouble nailing down what exactly their gender is. But in the MCU Lokis power is more illusions than actually shape-shifting. They never had Loki shape-shifting into an animal or etc it's always illusions. There's never even been a hint to him being genderfluid in the MCU. It'd be forced if they suddenly said it now

So I came here after watching a "humor vid" of ep 2. Not laughing even once. And wondering why Loki suddenly acts so... stupid

The recurring fan theory is that the TVA are the villains with Kang being their leader, not sure how much stock there is in that, but that's what most fans are speculating about on the various forums.

2 things. 1. The judge, Ravonna Renslayer, is a character from the comics called Emerald Empress, the on-again, off-again love interest to Kang The Conqueror, a time travelling villain, primarily of Iron Man and the Avengers, who is set to appear in Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania. Given her involvement with the story, it might be the case of Kang the Conqueror is using the TVA, under the guise of the Time Keepers, to fulfil his goal of conquering everything, like Mobius made a big deal about in Ep1 when Loki mentions that's what he wanted. 2. There might be a double-twist coming. At the end of this episode we find out that the variant of Loki being hunted is a woman. Except it might not actually be a female Loki, the English credits just list her character as "The Variant", the Spanish ones list her character as "Sylvie", in the comics, Sylvie Lushton is the 2nd character to be Marvel's Enchantress, and Loki mentions as he's talking to her, that this variant has mastered that "enchantment". She also says not to call her Loki, and this would make her the only version of Loki to not have dark hair, rather having the blonde hair typical of Amora, the 1st Enchantress.

The reason the reset bombs where scattered, it's a Loki variant shot in the dark they are probably very paranoid and won't leave every bomb in a place to be defused all at once. In case they are taken down.

Honestly, that Female Loki reveal was very underwhelming to me.I'm sure the actress is a wonderful person but did they have to make her not look like a villain and more like a Soccer Mom? I was hoping for Jaimie Alexander as female Loki...what was I thinking!? This is Disney, the Masters of Mediocrity and dullness.

After the reaction I watched on that other review I feared the worse, but yours make me hope I'm wrong about this series as it does come across better than the other two series they've released. I'm hoping that female variant is actually the Enchantress another Asgardian sorceress rather than a Variant Loki as those abilities are her stock in trade and not Loki's. I wonder what if those charges were sent there to act like depth charges to force the TVA timekeepers out of hiding where she could strike at them? Several of those points would be ideal periods for them to be watching events as they happen and if those charges won't harm the timeline merely intended to hit anyone employing the TVA version of time travel instead? Damn in one video you gave me more ideas than I've had in a while. Being reminded about good parts of Dr Who was a bonus!

I think Thorias is giving this show too much slack. Yes, it does bring up some interesting philosophical points. But it also has Loki, the guy that took blows from the Hulk and walked it off, getting his ass kicked by vanilla humans.

Hiding the reset charges was probably a means of extra security and assurance. If they find all the reset charges, they can disarm a bunch of them before they go off. However, if they find one reset charge, they'll still have to look for the rest. I took Sylvie (the name given to Lady Loki in the credits) hiding the charges as a way to make sure she did as much damage as possible.

i like this too so far... only one thing is bugging me.. wasn't loki supposed to have super strenght? in avengers he was tossing around captain america like he was a rag dool..

It was more entertaining than the first episode (which was basically a clip show) but the disastrous world building is at least potentially still there.

The question about free will and destiny seems to have been a part of Aesir mythology, you had the fate spinners (Nornorna) Urd, Verdandi and Skuld who set everyone's fate from birth, but also had the Valkyries who choose which men who will die and take to Valhall during battle and the gods who could invoke prophesy. Quite the interesting question all in all.

That stuff they talk about with chaos, order, free will or predetermined is the shit I live for. Alot of reviewers from Doomcock to MechaRandom have been dissing the show and I just don't agree. This is interesting to me. They say Loki is not being Loki and I find myself disagreeing because this is perfectly in keeping with his character as he's been portrayed in the MCU. A woobie villain. They say how there's alot of SJW-ism going on and maybe that's true but so far it hasn't disrupted my enjoyment of the show (that line about the superior Loki aside). I'm honestly liking this show, it's interesting, is telling a story from the POV of an unreliable character, and in the wheelhouse of stories I love that being time travel. Right now my major criticism is how they just handwave The Avengers' time heist shenanigans by saying it was dictated by the keepers when Loki was absolutely in the right.

To so you know, there have been recent rumblings in the Internet that this so-called 'Lady Loki' is in fact Amora the Enchantress.

Basically "the sacred time line " is a set course of events that they can skip across at will. A branching timeline is still writing itself and the future is still being written, so messing with the branching timelines events could make it worse, making it necessary to deal with it in real time.

I am glad to hear a positive review, as I have been enjoying the show. Granted, I was hoping for a twist other than a variant Loki, but, as you said, the show itself has been very interesting. I have seen a fair number of negative reviews, and was glad to hear at least some people are enjoying it as much as I am.

I agree that the fight at the beginning was weak, but C-20 did call it as a trap the instant the music started. And since the TVA are 'created' by the Timekeepers, they don't exactly have to have human levels of intelligence.

Loki's been a woman at least 3 times the last 20 years: First: Loki possessed Sif's body for a bit after Ragnarok during JMS' run as the actual Sif possessed the body of an old woman who was dying. This was to force Thor to bring back EVERYONE after Ragnarok without a choice as to who came back. Loki more specifically wanted Hela to return so he could manipulate time to create his own origin story / conjure Bor to kill Thor in the present. 2nd: In order to avoid letting a future version of himself win Loki kills himself to trigger his deal with Hela to be immediately reborn. It prompts him to become a different kind of god and he's periodically changes gender panel to panel. 3rd: When he was running for president he turned himself into a woman for a page and wondered if that would help his electability. This one seems more rooted in #2 - albeit who knows if this is Ikol or a more normal Loki.

3:15 my opinion is that they are using the time takes time to set. Thinking of time like wet cement, it takes time to set meaning you have to shape, mold and correct your mistakes in real time or else the mistakes will literally be set in stone

On the nexus events thing, i guess is not just one single detail, but a strand of events, that happen because of that single event, if time is a river, showing up too much and going agaist its flow will create umpredictable ripple effects that can produce squals and mess with the current, if there's too much destabilization, that can create a full imbalance, and either destroy the time stream, render travels across time useless, or produce a variety of unpredictable effects, hence travels ar more careful than you think, and posses a specific number of "shots", that is what i would go with for an explanation.

I feel like I've noticed a plot hole that NOBODY is talking about. The reset charges- they reset everything back to the sacred timeline, right? So what would blowing up reset charges everywhere do? It should do nothing since that literally what they do to fix a timeline, like all those soldiers are going out to go literally plant reset charges to fix reset charges going off? It doesn't make sense. Even if she could somehow rewire the reset charges so it reset the timeline to a completely different timeline, there shouldn't be any "red-lining", they should all immediately become the other timelines that aren't able to be reset because they've been reset charged... right? It kinda doesn't make sense

I have a better explanation for why they cant go back before the attack happened than what the show came up with. As established in Endgame, time traveling doesn't change events, it creates a branch timeline. Going back before the attack happened would create a branch timeline off of the branch timeline. It would just make the situation messier.

You have more confidence than I have in this show.

So a few questions… 1. Is the TVA only made up of humans? 2. The Universe is impossibly vast and expanding… is the TVA only concerned about a small section of the Universe or are these three aliens so powerful that they control the whole timeline? 3. Controlling the time stream to only have one doesn’t mean it’s a good thing. Perhaps the aliens have evil intent… 4. It might look nostalgic, but hell, actual paperwork is so inefficient. 5. You’d think that the ‘time cops’ would also be more efficient as well. They ‘re only dressed for bashing and fighting… no invisibilty, no shields…nothing! Surely they must be aware of super vilains, etc…

After Babyface reacted to this episode I don't blame you. I still think that's the Enchantress and NOT Lady Loki thereby explaining this better. The TVA thinks they're dealing with Loki explaining why they brought him in as what they should have done is return him where he teleported from along with the Space Stone and thus preserve their precious timeline!

I thought there was one really odd thing in the Pompeii scene, but it was purely technical. The volcano erupts, and the ash cloud is quickly approaching. I was expecting Loki and Moebius to portal out of there just before the cloud envelops the entire town and covers the screen. Yet the scene just cuts with Loki and Moebius still standing around Pompeii with what looks like seconds before the cloud hits. It doesn't have any effect on the show quality overall, it's just such an odd filmmaking choice to me to not show them leaving the scene and just cut. Maybe it was an editing choice for time. Either way, it really distracted me.

I heard a few times that was supposed to be the Enchantress. Any truth to that?

I kinda fear that this "Lady Loki" is something along the lines of Savitar fom Flash TV series: a duplicate of variant Loki with no real way to have it make sense, but time will tell. Or maybe that's MCU's version of Enchantress, now that I think about it; it would explain blond hair, but not why she is referred as "Loki" by TVA, who should know perfectly well who she is... Beyond that I actually think "Loki" is doing surprisingly well; I was very skeptical after episode 1, but the series does seem to go in a pretty good direction: as you said they DID put thought into the whole timeline/freewill concept and it makes me feel that it will turn out that things are not predetermined in the end. I most certainly hope so, cause otherwise they screwed MCU as a whole. So kudos on episode 2 to the team responsible for it; it was a pleasant surprise that gave me hope for MCU yet... even with Lady Loki ^^'

Glad you're keeping an open mind. Too many people are ready to freak out about anything that might be activism instead of entertainment. That said, I'm not interested in Loki because I dislike shows that try to bring in time travel or multiverses with serious drama. You rarely see anyone pull that off successfully and the longer it goes on, the more problems will surface.

Idk why but I thought it was his mom for some reason like from another timeline and she was doing all this because Loki killed her in Thor 2 and maybe she was also pissed because the Space lizards are technically responsible for Ragonrok and this was all some revenge plot for both of them. Mom somehow learns that the TVA deals with Loki varients all the time so she uses that as a cover and that's why this particular "Loki" was so hard to catch and this would be an arc for Loki and his mom fighting then reconnecting but it's just Loki....as a girl....that's cool too.

Dr Who had an episode that dealt with what happened to the Pond's that sounds like a decent explanation for this. The area has suffered some kind of temporal damage that means they can't just time travel to that moment without causing more of a problem. So why not travel to a time prior to that event walk in and then wait? Interesting that kind of suggests they were worried whoever took their team down used the time charge they were carrying and didn't want to be caught within the resulting blast that would erase them too if they didn't arrive in real time? Well you did a better job explaining this episode mind you.

The Female Loki reminds me of the Female Doctor and if you think about it could be her. I mean this Loki is jumping through time and messing up the multiverse. That sounds very familial doesn't it?

Now I might be spitballing here. But Female Loki's appearance and her mannerisms remind me of the Thor villain. Amora The Enchantress(It is a longshot but the blonde hair her level of powers does make me think that it is in fact Amora. But I can't say for sure). But the only thing I want to do is for TH's Loki to find those lizards and kill them. Because they are the biggest control freaks in the multiverse and there is no doubts there and the scarred timeline is just them being just that control freaks of the highest level. Thorias you do bring up a good point and that is the questions that is being asked and being shown and like you said now that they have asked those questions it is up to the writers to either give us the answer or they can do what the other shows with weaker writers do and that is skirt the question(by doing that tho it will make the writers look like fools in the eyes of the audience) and dialogue is good but they didn't need 50 minutes of talking(that is to much time and it was only used to fill in the time slot and yes it was that easy to see. They could've made the episode 30 minutes and it would be better).

When I saw someone in a hooded cape moving stiffly I was hoping for a surprise, anyone that wasn't Loki. That it was just a gender swapped Loki was kind of disappointing. I still am enjoying the show, but their surprises are not very surprising.
