Kris gets it... as usual. Especially with Tom Hiddleston being one of the writer, it was pure theatre. Not only did his character grow, so did his powers, not in areas of combat or mischief, but on a metaphysical level. And in the end, his selfless sacrifice ascended him to sometihng greater than he could have ever been. Frigga taught him well.

I freaking loved this finale. When we think about the character of Loki and his entire journey through the entire MCU, his journey has so much tragedy. It was beautiful. Loki accomplished what he always wanted but at the ultimate cost. Such excellent writing in my opinion.

When Loki stopped time in front of HWR and asked “and what makes you think this is the first time we’ve had this conversation” that was the clue that he was capable of more than we knew at the time. He kinda knew what he would have to do but he was exhausting every possibility so he could live with his friends. He wanted to win, but that’s not what Lokis do.

This is the same guy who said he loved the Ms. Marvel show. You can't make this up. John says "Never did they imply he had this power in the MCU", maybe because he discovered this after two whole seasons of a show centered around him. Also, he keeps talking about Loki going up against Thanos when this Loki isn't that same Loki, this Loki is from 2012 Avengers when the Avengers went back in time to collect infinity stones during Endgame.

I disagree on John's point the finale was not earned. The nuggets were in place all along. Seasons 1 and 2 need to be seen as a whole. Loki's whole redemption arc follows through it. Sylvie explained to Loki in Season 1 he has power that he doesn't even realize. Together they found the end of time. That's pretty powerful. Through this season, he learned how to become a master of time. In this last episode, after literally centuries of learning, pain, and failure, he learned how to control his power. He Who Remains needed his little gadget to pause Sylvie. Loki learned to do it with a flick of a finger. After centuries of sacrifice. At the end, his last lesson was understanding self-sacrifice. That was the last thing he needed to complete his redemption. This whole series was beautiful. Disney Plus shows have been mediocre, but Loki stands out as the MCU's best. There was no massive CGI fight against a "boss". It was one man man finally coming to terms with his destiny. As someone who, the last two years, has been going through his own redemption arc, I found this show touching and inspiring. The tighter I grip on the things I want, the quicker I squeeze them out of my hand. There is an allegory here for me that I found that I need to stop surviving and start living. I never thought I would say this about anything MCU, but the Loki series made me think about a lot of things and my own life. There is a lot to unpack and this show needs repeated viewings to unpack them. I was in tears at the end when Mobius was outside his home, saying he just wanted time. I applaud the show runners, the actors, the writers, the directors, and all involved in a truly engaging, original, and creative series. Loki is a 10 out of 10 for me because very few shows make me as contemplative as Loki did. I doubt anyone at Marvel will ever read this, but THIS is how you do the MCU. THIS is how you do a Disney Plus show. THIS is how you engage us. THIS is where your creative energy, originality, and brilliance shine. Make us feel. Make us think. We don't need massive boss fights. We don't need crazy CGI. We want to see ourselves in a character that we love. I applaud the team on this show, the actors, the writers, the dialogue, every effort in this production. I want them to know I was moved by this series, and there are very few things in media that move me.

John, have to disagree about his new powers. Did you not watch the middle of the episode where he spent centuries learning how everything worked? Aaand he fought Silvie thousands of times to save He Who Remains, before he figured out how to stop time. Also he became the God of Stories, which meant he could re-write the story into whatever he wanted. Maybe if they had more than 6 episodes, this could have been fully fleshed out, but I felt like it was still fully explained in the episode.

The Loki we saw in in main MCU and in the first season was not the Loki we saw in Loki S02 Finale. The Loki that became the God of Stories was like centuries old. He had consumed centuries worth of new knowledge. So he learned new things. It is important to note that this version of Loki possesses time-slipping powers that were not present in the Loki who died in Infinity War. This Loki is not the same as the one who was previously stabbed or choked, as that Loki perished in Infinity War. Additionally, this Loki has not experienced the events that took place after the Battle of New York, as he diverged from that timeline.

He leveled up his power when he finally started acting and fighting for the “who” instead of what’s, when’s, and where’s”. That line in episode 5 tells us that unlocking that emotion unlocked the ALL his powers as a god he never knew he had. including touching and healing timelines, controlling time slipping, and powers the infinity stones had that were already in him, but greed and power blocked it.

Loki had centuries to increase his power. He learned all about it (timelines/physics/multiverses). He didn't die in Thor 2, Time slipping gave him more powers as well. Loki's power grew from the day he met Sylvie & his variants & they taught him more about enchanting and mind control etc. HWR says he is surprised Loki hasn't got more control of his powers when they start to talk, and Loki had fooled him that bit was their 1st time having that chat. He is able to battle Thor, who could survive concentrated Neutron star energy in the vacuum of space. I always actually assumed it was the TVA keeping him from using his powers, that that was the only thing making that radiation (1st time) a danger to him. He can stop time and always change his clothes, stopping himself from dying, which is well within his power set. He is, possibly, twice as old, if not more than Infinity War Loki, and they really hinted at it so many times.

Time slipped back to the fight between Sylvia and He Who Remains, their conversation during the time freeze moment shows Loki has become as powerful as him, he finds a replacement of sort, someone that finally put the pieces together if he’s willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. 14:32 They quite literally said that Loki was a lot more powerful than he realized, in season 1. During the show, Loki has had to stop relying on blades - which "Classic Loki" said was something that stunted Loki's magical power. Yeah, it's a retcon because they weakened him compared to the comics, but it's not actually a plot hole. It's a retcon that makes some sense.

Thousands of trial and errors. Untold rounds of conversation with he who remains. It's like how Doctor Strange got a boost from what we saw in his first movie to what we saw in Infinity Wars after however many years he spend coming to bargain. At times he comes off as purposely dense. He's upset that Loki never displayed the power to breath life into timelines but he has no problem with Loki learning how to travel through time by controlling his "timeslipping" to the point that he can now time travel to any point in his history. Maybe....just maybe the reason Loki has that power is because it is his destiny to do exactly what he did. Everyone gets obliterated at the end of ep 4 when the loom explodes but Loki gets warped back in time so he can try something else. It appears that was his story all along and it doesn't have to be a negative because you can't make sense of it.

This. Old Loki in Season 1 episode 5 had powers far superior to our Loki because he'd been alive so much longer and really honed his powers. He said that next to their powers a sword is a distraction - the illusion that he created of all of Asgard was a demonstration of his far superior powers. Loki literally learned how to jump through time an pause time over the course of centuries, he could EASILY use the powers to pause time to help him combat the radiation on the gangway - not to mention absorbing all that radiation after he destroyed the loom and it all came crashing down on him. He's literally a Capital G GD now.

@@johncampea My take is that by killing He Who Remains from season 1, Loki rerouted his destiny. This caused him to timeslip, get “God of Stories” powers, and force him to loom timelines/takeover the He Who Remains job, which is what Kang said he’d have to do if Loki/Sylvie killed him. The underlying ouroboros theme of it all forces him to have that power whether it makes sense or not. Loki can’t exist without the sacred timeline and the sacred timeline can’t exist without Loki.

John just missed it, the detail was small yet there. In episode 6 when Loki "masters" timeslipping he then studies for CENTURIES to repeatedly learn about fixing the Temporal Loom. That was the key. He did what many God tier Asgardians do, he became more powerful with age. Thus, unlocking the physical power, knowledge, and magical upgrades needed to pull off the feat at the end.

Loki has a far better character arc than Wanda, don't kid yourself. The show itself is way better written and acted as well. Also in regard to how Loki became all powerful, you failed to realized that the show did tell us that ever since Loki gain the ability to time slip thousands of years has past for Loki. He spent centuries just learning how the TVA worked. He probably spent longer figuring out how HWR created and managed the loom. It's there you just missed the subtle clues.

They did tease it, I’m season one when old man Loki at one point said something like…I think we might be more powerful than we realize…this show is about Loki discovering himself and the potential of his own powers, he didn’t know how powerful he was. A full circle for the character, only when he finally understood the lesson odin was trying to teach him, that the throne is not a position of power, but a position of service, he was able to accept a ascent to the throne. In a way he’s now the all father. And while he is all alone and always will be, unlike Sif’s prediction, it’s not because he’s an unlovable prick, quite the opposite. Being along in his throne is the burden of his glorious purpose.

7:04 it was show in season 1 a older loki could be quite powerful, two he had centuries to develop his skills, he was time jumping to learn how to build the physics toy fixer thing, then he spent more and more jumping around his timeline to learn the knowledge to solve the problem, and then he was in a "temporal wake," that kind of shows hes getting older, I would have assumed he was protected by his time powers. So while cheap he learned it off screen and if you pay attention it is there.

I’ve noticed a pattern with your opinions, John. Feels like there can be this amazing show/movie, and you’ll get hung up on a very specific aspect which will ruin it for you, or at least to a degree. Then conversely there’s a mediocre to bad project that you love one aspect of so much that the flaws don’t seem to matter, and it can do no wrong. It’s always one or the other, and your opinions will intensify over time. To the point that you’ll hate the one with a single flaw, and absolutely love the not so good one for a specific reason 😅
