Imagine if Kang actually beat antman and the resistance. Kang is Manipulating Scotts mind thinking he won when in actuality he and the resistance is defeated his daughter the only one to escape trying to get back in the real world to warn the Avengers of Kangs Arrival. This is what I thought happened when Scott stated nothing felt right in the end scene .

The problem isn't Kang. The problem is they have provided no direction after Endgame. Believe it or not, we are halfway through Phase 5 now, and they have yet to establish the core group of heros going forward. Phase 4 was had no central plot. Add to the fact they keep throwing heros out with no development or follow up. Shang Chi, She-Hulk, Eternals, Moon Knight and more have had zero impact since their debuts.

Think it’s a little dishonest to say your average person was shitting themselves when they saw thanos in that post credit scene in Avengers. Only comic book fans would even know who that was and at the end of the day it was just a dude sitting in a chair he hadn’t done anything. I think kang has done a lot more to prove his stature and threat to the MCU than thanos ever did until literally Infinity war came out, I don’t expect to see the truly terrifying version of kang until literally Kang Dynasty.

@Moskarth
@Moskarth 8 месяцев назад
@@AstronautMarsSun exactly I am the same way! I think fans expectations have drastically outgrown what is possible for studios to live up to.. there was no expectation back with the beginning of the MCU and so them delivering the quality they did was an awesome treat.. now people like to act like everything was absolutely perfect back then but really if you think about it thanos was just a dude in a chair (avengers) or on a screen (GotG) that hadn’t done anything to make fans fear him unless you read comics. Kang has literal control of time and advanced tech powers and they’ve just given us little tastes to show us what we can expect. Obviously they are not immediately going to final form Kang in Loki or antman like I’m so confused what they expected. HWR (Loki) was just a somewhat peaceful variant that thought they were doing the right thing by preventing other versions of himself from getting out of control.. and Kang (antman) was a banished version that even still was able to create an empire from scratch in the quantum realm. If these introductions to Kang occcured at the beginning of the MCU people would be losing their minds imo.. fans need to do better to dampen expectations and just trust/enjoy the ride that marvel has given us we are so lucky to be born at a time to witness all this on the big screen.
@ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdom

@Moskarth
@Moskarth 8 месяцев назад
@@ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdom yeah but thanos had done absolutely nothing until infinity war, and then infinity war did an amazing job at making thanos an absolute menance and major threat to everyone. Meanwhile like I said in these comments.. one kang variant had established an entire time variance organization keeping only a single branch intact and literally destroying all other branches.. and another kang variant was banished to the quantum realm by even more terrifying kangs.. and still this kang established from scratch a whole empire ruling over the Quantum realm.. he was ultimately defeated yes by an extremely advanced civilization (don’t even think of them as ants) but we saw what his tech and power was capable of … and even still this variant was only one that was banished by even more powerful kangs imagine what those ones are capable of

@@Moskarth "Do you know how many Avengers I've killed???", if Kang's threat was real, he wouldn't use the Avengers' name as crutches to sell it. If the general audience didn’t like the multiverse spiderverse would flop, so would of no way home, everything everywhere all at once. It’s the story telling an how they go about it. Unfortunately if Majors is guilty they can just recast. To toss Kang aside for what? To hopefully get a good Doom story and if it’s not? Are we gonna toss that aside to? Just finish the story.

Ant Man beat a Kang VARIANT. The threat isn't ONE of his variants but more so his entire Dynasty lol or am I alone with this thinking? Marvel is just showing the range of his variants and using a variant periodically to act as a antagonist here and there. The "big bad" is his entire Dynasty acting together in unison. That's absolutely an Avengers-level threat, hence "Kang Dynasty".

I don't like the fact of the TVA dealing with super-powered variants anyway. I think that aspect was always one of the weaker written parts of the show. You know what they should’ve done? They’ve should’ve done a scene at the end of Endgame where Kang and his followers were watching the Avengers and the other heroes defeating Thanos and one of his subordinates said, “They broke the rules of time to cheat themselves out of defeat. We should conquer them!” and Kang then says, “No, we’ll let them be for now. I have more pressing matters than to deal with these rabble Avengers and besides…..” Kang then turns around towards the screen and audience. “I’ve grown bored with killing these Avengers. I’ll deal with them again…….in time.”

Moving away from the Kang storyline this deep in the multiverse saga REEKS of 2017/2018 DCEU where there was no direction and the overall universe storyline flip flopped all over the place. On top of that Kang is the one time that you can recast the character and have minimal issues considering variants and the multiverse, which is a concept the MCU can’t even wrap around or use creatively and they’re basing the entire saga off the multiverse.

I'm not sure how I feel about Doom suddenly being the big bad. They've had a a heck of a lot more build up for Kang than they have for Doom. Remember, the build up for Thanos didn't really give us an idea of what a threat he was UNTIL Avengers Infinity War. So, I can see how Marvel has been planning to do the same thing with the Avengers Kang Dynasty movie, where we won't see what a major threat Kang is until his Avengers movie comes out. Then just like End Game was the conclusion to Infinity War, the Avengers Secrets Wars movie would be the conclusion to Kang Dynasty. I really hope they don't have to pivot away from Kang, because we've already had 3 piece of build up with him (Loki S1, Quantumania, Loki S2), and it would be tough to just suddenly throw Doom at us out of nowhere to suddenly be the big bad of an Avengers movie, when there's already this established threat build up with Kang.

I don’t believe in dropping storylines like this. It rarely works and creates more issues than solves them. Star Wars sequel trilogy would be the prime example of that. You course correct and make steps to improve the plot instead of pretending it never happened.

The thing is that all of the movies he mentioned were not really Marvel movies and had a lot of special circumstances. Spider-Man No Way Home was basically a Sony movie (Marvel only gets 25%) The reason Guardians 3 was so good was Marvel had the good sense to let James Gunn complete his vision, and Shang Chi was what happens when an incredible director gets to create a great world with cool characters. So we can't say that Marvel lives again, just like we shouldn't always say Marvel is dead. It's a case-by-case basis. Those saying that Marvel can do no wrong, and who don't acknowledge the failures in phases 4 and 5 are just as wrong as those that are saying it is dead. They have good and bad movies, and that is how it will always be. Past performance is not indicative of future success, and past failure does not mean all is lost.

It's a bit of a side track but Darth Vader didn't become the Vader we all know and love until The Empire Strikes Back. His shouting persona in ANH isn't nearly as good as the calm and ruthless version we get in ESB. I'm not saying that it's bad in ANH, but it's not even close to how good he is in the rest of the trilogy.

Honestly, even if the Jonathan Majors situation wasn’t happening, Marvel just kept shooting Kang in the foot and made him feel like such an underwhelming threat. I understand they wanted him to be a more hands on villain, as opposed to Thanos who had henchmen villains fighting for him until he took over for infinity war. The thing with that approach is they you need to have him win every encounter with the heroes to build him up as a credible threat to the audience. If you have him constantly showing up just to lose, and his first defeat is against Antman, then the audience is never going to take him seriously as a villain.

@@Dru2037 yes and he pointed out that it was a success. Even if it was not failing box office wise till last year, it is now. Only success of this year was GOTG 3 which is the only good movie they have put out. And the only one which did not involve the Multiverse. The multiverse should not have been properly introduced before phase 6. Plant the seeds here and there. But don't go all in until the characters are developed enough. Right now we are 1.5 phases into the multiverse saga and no character has had more than 1 solo project except Loki. Not Shang Chi, not Doctor Strange, not the Eternals (yeah remember how the earth is cracked with a giant celestial sticking out of it and nobody talks about that?). Last we saw Sam Wilson was 2.5 years ago. Doctor Strange is god knows where, the real Black Panther is dead, who even are the Avengers, where is shang chi's ten rings sending signals to, and how come there have been 5 separate multiverse projects and none of them have given us a proper explaination of the multiverse in the MCU? Yes it is a mess.
@jadan2000
@jadan2000 8 месяцев назад
The MCU is so saturated with characters right now, that we cant even get into the multiverse saga. Think about it, we haven't seen anything about Spiderman or Shang chi or the eternals or their post credit scenes since their last movies came out. And very few movies or shows have pushed the multiverse sage storyline forward, with all of that, you make another movie that doesn't push the story forward. this is getting old. I feel like they thought restarting their original formula was going to work, but it hasn't worked well at all. We need to see the new cast of superheroes working together to solve the Multiverse and Kang problem. Until that finally happens, and in high quality, these movies are going to continue to suffer low box office numbers.

I’m sorry John, but I disagree with you on this, it would be a huge mistake if got rid of Kang and pivot to Dr Doom. If Majors is found guilty they can just simply recast him. Just bring in Doom will not solve all the MCU's problems. You could put doctor doom in antman 3 and it still would’ve made the same amount of money and would have gotten the same response Kang did.

Exactly. A lot of ppl (mostly NON comic book readers probably), simply don't understand the threat of Kang. Plus a lot of ppl didn't consider the FACT that the [version] we saw in Antman was simply that: "a version" - the REAL Kang [likely] hasn't been portrayed yet. That version wasn't him at his most powerful A lot of ppl are/were simply impatient to see where it was all going to go...

If they were to recast Kang I’d be all for either John Boyega or John David Washington On the topic of making Kang a threat, I think the way Kang should have been handled in the Ant-Man film should have been as the trailer teased a brutal beatdown of Scott. Hope, Cassie and Scott being no match in a final 3 on 1 fight and only narrowly escaping with their lives, perhaps ending on a realisation they’d left something behind in the Quantum Realm that Kang will be able to use to escape at some point.
