Loki coming full circle and making a selfless sacrifice for the universe......wow. Tom better be up for an Emmy for this season. He absolutely crushed every episode
@@ArbythorOf course not. Remember this Loki is a variant of the MCU Loki who died in the Infinity War. So even if this Loki is sitting on the edge of time monitoring the multiverse, Tom Hiddleston can still play another Loki variant. He did it in season 1 and also in the animated What If series.
@@bengarcia9105didn't season 1 confirmed that the main loki survived in infinity war? Because when variant loki meets a bunch of other variants the old loki tells him he got prunned when he tried to leave the planet he drifted to. The anomaly wasn't him surviving but him trying to leave the planet. So the main loki is still technically there somewhere, and now that the sacred timeline is no more, perhaps he can come back
Having Loki create the Worlds Tree, and having him become the God of Stories, and the Heart of Yggdrasil, if this is the last time we see Tom as Loki, then as sad as I would be, I can’t think of a better send off for his version of the character. Amazing episode and amazing series.
In Ep 5 Loki finally admitted he Just wanted his friends back and had learned he didn't actually want the throne. So to have to make the choice and realise that to save his friends he had to leave them and sit on the throne; alone. As a guardian though; NOT as a Ruler.. And making the sacrifice to sit alone forever when he was terrified to be alone is incredible character development. . The responsibility was more burden than glory (Burdened with glorious purpose!). Heavy is the head that wears the crown. The Arc of Loki from Thor 1 to this final is incredible!
I would dare say, the best developed character in the MCU at this moment, perhaps only rivalled by Tony Stark. If the Infinity Saga was about Tony's arc, then we can gladly say that the Multiverse Saga is about Loki.
Now i want is thor odin frigg and everyone see loki selfless sacrifice for the entire multiverse as god of time and story which i know people say he not but the way he character arc pretty much he became god of time and story like the comic
Watching Loki go through possibly the greatest character arc of all time to create the Tree of Life and become the 'God of Stories' felt both melancholy and glorious at the same time. On one hand, he finally found his glorious purpose and it felt amazing to see, but on the other hand, he is also burdened with that purpose for all time, always.
Just a question, but people keep mentioning him being the god of stories - where was this mentioned in the show, did I miss something or is it a callback to season 1?
In the 1st episode of season 1 Loki is told that his purpose is to fail so that others can become their greatest selves. Leave it to Loki to take that to heart and spend the final episode failing so that he can find a way to give everyone in every timeline the chance to become their best selves. Fucking amazingly poetic. The god of outcasts is now the god of unification. The god of mischief is now the god of stories, lies become truths.
As much as I love the frantic energy of the first half of this episode, I love when they slow down and have conversations in the second half even more. This was a great episode. Possibly the best of all of Marvel tv for me.
In the end, Loki braves the time storm and morphs back into a god, or rather a new kind of god, destroying the loom and carrying the multiverse timelines literally on his back to a resting place, a throne nestled inside a cosmic tree that is very much Yggdrasil, the World Tree. Similar to how Odin hung from Yggdrasil to gain wisdom...interesting parallel
Loki wanted a throne. He wanted power. And now he finally has both, and all that he can do is hold everything together for everyone, for all time. The multiverse will never know what he gave up to keep everyone safe. He is effectively God with a capital "G", but he has no servants, no subjects, no armies. And maybe the greatest power and the strongest magic is that which can't be seen or acknowledged by those that it helps.
Maybe the most heroic thing that's been done in the MCU. Incredibly well done front to back by the cast, directors, writers, everything. Seeing the World Tree at the end blew me away.
I’ll never stop thinking about how good the score was for this season, and this last episode in particular. Sensational. Masterpiece. Perfection. Chills.
I fell so so bad for Loki, he's stuck on the Oroboros, this cycle will repeat over and over and over and have no choice but repeating everything again or killing Sylvie. Jesus, what a 10/10 show, I'm so glad I've saw all those years of Marvel.
I’m sorry so many of your fandoms have made you bawl your eyes this past month but damn these finales have been incredible. And all I have to say is Long Live The King!
The fact that Loki's previously favorite toy the Teseract being hidden on Earth inside a mural carving of Yggdrasil, to now Loki weaving together the tree of Yggdrasil himself by hand. 😭🥹🤯🖤
The twisting of emphasis on the phrase "Burdened with glorious purpose" is so incredibly poignant and powerful that it feels like this was all intended from the moment he first said it. Of course it wasn't planned this way (probably) - he was just being sanctimonious at the time - but that just shows how good and clever this writing is. What an amazing way to bring things full circle.
It harkens back to classic Loki reaching his glorious purpose in distracting Alioth in Season 1. Turns out, it just required a Loki with more power and a better vantage point to see both the forests and the trees to achieve his gloriouser purposer. And he can look in on his 'ohana now and for all time. Always.
the only thing is that Victor was in the current TVA, them not giving his child self the TVA handbook has nothing to do with the Victor that is already with the others, so Victor is still in the TVA somewhere. He didn't disappear, reset, die, or anything else, he was still there with the others. Maybe he's a part of the TVA now, maybe he went home, who knows. Maybe he helped make the 2nd edition of the TVA handbook with OB, etc.
This episode was amazing and it really made me cry. If you think about it Loki really became the best and powerful character in the MCU. He became the God of Stories and sacrifice himself so his friends and the rest of the people in the timeline can live their lives. I rewatch the whole series and I think that Kang (He who Remains) was teaching Loki about how time works and when he said to Sylvie (See you soon) he probably mean't meeting Loki again mastering controlling time and his time slipping. My guess is that he will be the one to reunite everyone in Secret Wars after Kang Dynasty since Loki is now powerful and spent centuries gaining new knowledge about time
Loki has imo the greatest character arc in the mcu with this.. from when he first shows up announcing "I am burdened with glorious purpose" only for it to end not how he expected but in the most meaningful full self sacrifice.. so awesome. I'd honestly love it if that's where his character ends and there's no more seasons I just wish he had 1 more interaction with thor.
We should see more of Mobius and loki in kang dynasty. A Thor/ Loki reunion as well. A send off for both characters with them seeing their progress would be amazing
he looked so supreme in his classic green. like full on norse. so many feelings. so much joy even with the sacrifice. well done to the team behind the series.
Loke really spent centuries to be able to protect his friends. Biggest end of and Era moment to me for the MCU. Jack Kirby was a co-writer for this. Full circle there as well.
@@vinsanity40k except they aren't immortal. Odin, Heimdall, Frigga, countless others all dead. #facepalm That was because of his new mastery of magic and his new mastery of time.
I hadn't even seen your reaction video yet, and I was just waiting for your reaction to Tom going full Asgard, with delayed horns.... As usual you did not disappoint, it was glorious (both the scene and your reaction to it).... As a dane, I absolutely ❤❤ that you instantly recognized Yggdrasil,. I mean, most of us scandinavians know some norse mythology, but I do not expect others to know it as well. So kudos to you for both knowing and recognizing it 👍😀👍 If anyone had told me back when "Thor" came out, that a variant of LOKI would end up as the savior of all, AND would sit as the living, breathing, beating heart of Yggdrasil.... I think I would have straight up laughed at the very idea!!!! But here we are, and I couldn't be happier 😀😀😀
The last two episodes of Loki carried more emotional weight than anything Marvel related since Infinity War (& I think the most intelligent writing they've every had) I wish these writers had the opportunity to write Marvel stories the next while. As for Loki, even though the series is over & the writer talked about closing the book on this chapter, one of the producers was talking about how they eventually wanted Thor & Loki to meet again. Loki's purpose is to keep everything safe & to protect it from forces like Kang. And although he's 'alone' in one sense, I think Marvel will find it hard to have created a character arc like this & leave it along. I think when he's needed the most, we'll see Loki again (& if he's able to know & hear everything, I don't know if he's really alone)
An aspect of this story that has occurred to me as I've thought more about this episode: Turning the "loom" into Yggdrasil specifically could also be seen as an acceptance of his Asgardian upbringing he received from Frigga and Odin which he had rejected after finding out his frost giant heritage. There was a similar moment in Infinity War (referring to himself as Odinson), but this is a bit more dramatic.
Loki in charge of the timeline's changes everything in Marvel, theoretically he could go back to New York and change the outcome from the first Avenger movie. (I think) 🙂 Secret Wars, with Kang as the villain, is the climax to the next MCU phase, which would likely involve Loki. (Once again I think) This series was great, enjoyed your reactions.
16:35 "... replacing..." This is the moment. Sylvie gives him the solution for which he's been looking. It was in his brain the whole time but he finally realised it is the only solution that will work.
The guy chose an eternity of loneliness just soo every thing can live on. Like shit dude! I never gave two shits about Loki throughout the entire MCU until this series. And now he’s become one of my favourite characters. They could literally end this lame ass phase of marvel on a high note with this finale.
Such a fantastic finale for such a fantastic series ! Scratch Endgame, I'm positive that cinematographically, musically, acting, writing, thematically and philosophically, supremely intelligent in its writing BUT also not forgetting to be emotional, Loki is the best the MCU ever was ! It's the full package ! Loki's character arc throughout the entire MCU and ending with this series is now as iconic as Zuko's in Avatar the Last Airbender, to me. It's one that will stick through time. I feel like Loki is to the MCU what Andor was to Star Wars : not only the best each franchise ever could be, but getting to such a level that nobody has seen it coming, and transcended its own root universe to become its own thing. Decades from now, when everybody will have long forgotten about Star Wars or the MCU, Andor and Loki will still be taught in filmmaking classes, as some of the cornerstones of mankind's history of storytelling.
Loki Who Remains. Loki - the God of Stories. GLORIOUS ending 💚. He Who Remains at the end knew that Loki will take the throne. What a sacrifice. When World Tree Yggdrasil showed up I started screaming. Loki rewrote it that it was 9 realms tree, now its Multiversal tree. WOW. I heard creators confirmed this makes Lokis story complete and theres no season 3 coming. Im glad.. I didnt know that before I watched the episode and still I knew that Toms stare means this may be the last moment we see him and he basically thanks everyone for this role. Teared me up so much instantly. I couldnt be happier. Loki may be possibly the best developed MCU character and I dont want anything else. The Loki who wanted the throne for himself became Loki who sacrificed himself on the throne for others. And btw I want Funko of God Loki on that throne 👀
Amazing ending to a Character we loved to hate, Loved Tom as Loki, can't see anyone else playing Loki in the films and its been a joy to watch this show for 2 seasons.
In Norse mythology Odin hangs for 9 days upon Yggdrasil to gain the runes of wisdom. He endures pain and is a sacrifice, What a brilliant and tragic end to let Loki finally take his place. A brave, bitter, heroic ending,
The Lokiverse. I wonder why the Time Stone is GREEN?🤔 The Tesseract was found in a representation of Yggdrasil in the first Captain America movie. 🤔 Loki in the Avengers thought freedom was a lie. Now, he is giving everyone in the "Multiverse" freedom.❤ What a story and character arc. What a powerful ending.
Two thoughts I had while watching your reaction: 1) When you said "This must be hell" I thought... wow... the time repetition "cell" in the first episode was actually TRAINING (for this moment) 🤯, and 2) When you were surprised by his knowledge after centuries... it really wouldn't have made sense otherwise for him to be this God of time, without learning everything the most advanced minds of the TVA knew about time and timelines. It was like a necessary step in his ascension 🤯
Oh I noticed a 3rd thing I've never noticed before. Mobius in the very end goes back to see his family and overhears him joking "The inmates are running the asylum". That's exactly what's happening here now, as the prisoners to the TVA are now free.
Avenger Prime is a repentant variant of Loki who commands the Multiversal Avengers from the God Quarry. He used to have legions of Deathloks serving him though nearly all of them have been slain. He is based at Avengers Mountain, formerly Avengers Tower.
The way he said he knows “what kind of god I want to be for you, for all of us”, it was like he was talking to the audience. Making it so much more impactful. Incredible show, which in my opinion is up there with Infinity war and Endgame. Tom absolutely deserves awards for this. Bravo Marvel 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Loved the episode and I have watched a lot of reaction videos to sort of share the feelings. Yours was the best in terms of watching your reaction and being the only one to guess what was coming early. Everyone else was as confused as me until the very end when the throne appeared. One thing few have commented on was the bittersweet smile he made at the end knowing his friends were where he wanted them to be but he couldn’t be with them. TH really conveyed a depth of feeling to me in that one little smile.
Top 3? Top 1. He was 'burdened with glorious purpose', he was, according to most of his friends in Asgard, destined to be alone forever, and he always wanted a throne. The burden, the glorious purpose, forced him to be alone forever atop a throne of gold, holding the multiverse together through sheer will. All for his friends. This is the single best character arc the MCU has pulled off. By a frankly disgustingly large margin. And I say that absolutely adoring the majority of the character arcs we've been given.
This was the best final episode of all MCU series and recency bias not withstanding the best season of any MCU serious as well. This proves that MARVEL can do it, if they take the time and select the right creators and let them do their thing without to much interdferance (!). By the way I really love your look here, with the Jack Beanie and the black and white headphones, very cute 😊
That was perfect,Loki had an amazing character arc.He choose his glorious purpouse to be the one who keeps the Multiverse alive,if only Thor could see him now....
This has been the best from marvel for me, since the infinity war saga. Loki was my least fav after killing coulsen but that all changed during ragnarok, now I wish i had a loki tattoo. Hulk has always been my fav and I have a huge hulk tattoo on my thigh, great reaction glad someone else cried as much as me
Side thought: After the War of Kang, is Loki at the center of the timestream the one who brings characters from across the multiverse together for Secret Wars?
First reactor I've heard use the word yggdrasil! Whoop! I've seen a pile of reactors do this ep, and I've heard 'tree of life' a couple times, and I've been waiting for soemone to say yggdrasil each time!
Loki became the Loom (in the shape of The Tree of Life from Norse Mythology) and God of Time replacing He Who Remains.. The thing Loki feared most was being alone and now his loneliness protects all time...Always.
You are without question a Loki fan I think the best reaction to this video was the look on your face when he transformed into the god of stories I'm not too sure if you have met Tom Hiddleston but I do hope that you do
