"He Who Remains" is played by Jonathan Majors who is the same actor set to play Kang in Ant-Man 3. He was basically the good variant of Kang that stopped the multiversal war that was started by his evil variants (evil Kang). He preserved the sacred timeline by creating the TVA. Sylvie killing him undoes all of his work and so his evil variants are back. The statue at the end was of the real Kang the Conqueror. Sylvie basically unleashed Kang.

@@VNLAGRLLA they are not confirmed yet. And just because we get multiverse does not mean Tobey and Andrew are coming aswell. That's the problem many people have with all this. They expect super big things and are disappointed when it's not happening. Then stuff gets bad reviews just because people are butthurt because their theories were wrong. I'm not saying it won't happen. Just that the mindset of "it will obviously happen" is not healthy :D

I think betrayal is a strong word in this situation, given that Sylvie doesn't want to hurt Loki or anything like that. She just has a different opinion and doesn't want Loki to get in her way of revenge and possibly get hurt too, so lying to him and pushing him out of the way is the most logical choice for her. As for Mobius, I think this is not the Mobius that Loki knows, but Mobius of a different TVA in a different parallel universe maybe? So hope Loki finds his way back to the original Mobius.

y'all she didn't betray him. sophia di martino (sylvie) actually explained in an interview that sylvie pushed loki away to save him from her, just like loki she also wants him to be okay, she doesn't want to hurt him and if he keeps getting in her way she might end up hurting him so she chose to send him back to the tva where he is safe

When Loki is sitting there after Sylvie push's him through the door you know he's sitting there with lady Sif's words echoing in his head "Your alone and you'll always be alone" and i'm pretty sure Loki entered a different timeline when she pushed him through the doorway or it branched at the exact same time one

There’s only 1 TVA so it’s not really possible to have a different timeline’s TVA to be the explanation. In the first episode they tell us that “Time flows differently in the TVA” therefore the TVA exists outside of the timeline, so there can’t be multiple TVAs. What I assume happened is that Kang the Conqueror (the evil one) took over when Loki was at the end of time (both the end of time and the TVA exist outside of time) and wiped every agents memories, like every agent that wasn’t pruned before this.

@Jim Gordon I don’t think you get how the TVA works. The TVA is not part of the timeline. It never was, it exists outside of time. Therefore even if the timeline branches there’s no TVA in the timeline anyways, so it’s literally impossible for the branches to create another TVA. Just think of the TVA as a different realm than the MCU reality we know, where time doesn’t flow normally. The MCU we know is going to get crazy, but you can’t have multiple TVAs because it isn’t part of the sacred timeline in the first place and cannot branch into another TVA.

It was sad to see that Sylvie couldn’t stop and try and see past her revenge. It also shows her emotional stunting due to how she grew up. She acted so much like a Loki at the end where she only thought about herself, and nothing else. Also, her wielding the ‘love is a dagger’ metaphor from episode 3. She got up close to Loki and used it against him.

Omg that was so sad. She kissed him then sent him back to the TVA because she couldn’t trust him or let go of her own personal feelings about taking down the person in charge of all of this. But she caused a lot of interesting events by killing that version of Kang. As much as I wanted her to listen to Loki, that wouldn’t have set up s2 as well.

Since Kang is confirmed to be the main villain of Ant-Man 3, I now think Scott Lang is going to try the "kill baby Thanos" strategy by wiping Kang's modern day descendant out of the timeline, thereby erasing Kang from existence. That descendant being Reed Richards. Bringing F4 into the fold.

Sylvie's decision is understandable and makes most sense in the overall context for she never had any anchor whatsoever to protect from those deep trust issues, she only had an almost entire lifetime of apocalypses, hiding, persecution and alone time to nurse her feelings of hatred and wishes of revenge and destruction. All that chaos she witnessed for so long over and over again kind of numbed her heart. Loki had those opportunities and he just refused them repeatedly like a spoiled child. Hers were taken!

Yes, Jonathan Majors (the actor who was already announced to play Kang in the next Ant Man movie) is “He Who Remains.” They are variants of one another. Jonathon will probably get to act his butt off playing various versions of himself in this phase and maybe the next one too.

He Who Remains (in the comics) is an entity that controls the Time keepers and knows literally everything about the timeline. In this episode he is fused with Kang's storyline and voila, perfection!

That statues at the end, that was of Kang. It will be the same actor we just saw (Jonathan Majors) but it will technically be a different person. The character we saw him play here was Immortus who is an older variant of Kang.

Conversely this gives Marvel Studios a means to uncouple itself from that stuff. Coulson is dead in the films but survived his encounter with Loki in another universe/timeline (AoS), for example.

So, in case no one's commented about it yet, that beginning part, all the voices? There's a theory in temporal physics that time isn't linear, that it's more like everything is happening at once, we just experience it linearly. So, that was us the viewers, in the sacred timeline, (that's circling that scrap of world at the end of time, outside of the timeline) everything happening, all at once. Before then coming to the Loki's POV Ha ha hopefully that made Any sort of sense. It's a little bit timey wimey lol

Well in the comics Kang does try to use Wanda's "Nexus Power" to gain supreme power over other Kangs and other beings in the multiverse that threaten his empire. He's also responsible for Wanda never having children by making sure Vision was Wanda's romantic interest was solidified. Apparently they become a threat to his empire through her. That obviously backfired because Wanda found a way to use magic to create life, as seen in Wandavision. Things are different in the comics but they're somewhat accurate with various changes.

Nikki & Steven: From what I've gathered, what happened at the end is that what Immortus/He-Who-Remains/Nice-Dictator-Kang-Variant said came to be true. Sylvie killed him and he and his "Sacred Timeline/TVA pruning" is what kept the other Evil Kang Variants in line. She basically opened a giant can of worms and she did send "Our Loki" back to what she thought was the TVA HQ but since she killed "Immortus," the timeline is forever changed and splintered. It seems like he came back to a TVA that is now controlled by Kang the Conqueror (thus the statue of him at the end). Think of the ending of the original Planet of the Apes for a similar wtf realization moment with a statue.

Did anyone even realize that we never got the trailer footage of Loki on a Throne or the Loki saying “glorious” in Stark Tower? Did they cut those scenes or actually film those just to throw us off in trailers?

If you look at the trailer, there are certain scenes that they have changed things, either the background or removed things, so that it didn't spoil the show. For example, when the doors open on Lamentis to rescue Sylvie and Loki at the last minute, they show that in the trailer but with a different background and Sylvie has been cut out. They show Loki in the void in the middle of the destroyed New York in the trailer, but that scene is actually when he first meets the Loki's in the field - they've changed the background to hide the Loki's reveal. So not surprising that there are scenes that we didn't see or we don't recognise

The multiverse also allows Marvel to cast different actors for the same role. You can’t keep casting Hugh Jackman for Wolverine or RDJ for Ironman, because they are getting older, and having the multiverse is the best way to be able to keep the stories coming

I honestly think that even though they would’ve been forced to make tough and even reprehensible decisions, they should’ve taken the throne. Now they’ll have to deal with an infinite number of Kang’s and just ONE of them could be more than Loki, The Guardians of the Galaxy, The Avengers or anyone could take on alone. Also stand and applaud for Jonathan Majors as Kang The Conquerer for being so damn charismatic that you steel the screen from not just 1 but 2 Loki’s. Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania cannot get here soon enough now!!!

I wouldnt necesseraly call Immortus a villain. I mean I think his variant or his variants will be the big bads, like Thanos was. So I think they set him up for Phase 4 or even Phase 5.

@@avgnfandon2 i think they mixed "he who remains" with immortus since immortus was granted immortality by the Time Keepers and since they were androids controlled by him I think that option is out of table. I think that Kang the Conqueror will be his variant "not so pure of heart" and might even be the big bad for the next Phase.

@@pannedokonaly4947 Kang was the statue that replaced the Time Keepers at the end. So his influence is already active. They definitely did a composite character for "he who remains". The comics "He who remains", if I recall correctly, was the last remaining TVA agent from the multiverse that preceded this one (like Galactus and a few others are survivors of the previous multiverse). This one is a Kang version who seems to have been living through multiple loops of the entire timeline.

Johnathon Majors was already announced to play Kang in the next Ant Man Movie. He is the actor who played “He Who Remains.” As such, they are one in the same… just variants of each other. If you did not watch Lovecraft Country on HBO, check that out. Jonathon Majors acted his BUTT off in that movie. That show just got 17 Emmy nominations. He has a lot of range as an actor and it will be cool to see him play all these versions of Kang with different personalities.

He Who Remains is Nathaniel Richards. Kang is just 1 version of him and this one isn’t him. At least not anymore. This version seems like it’s the MCU version of Immortus who is an older version who is often at odds with Kang.

I feel like Kang (and his many variants) could be one of - if not, *THE* - scariest villians in the whole MCU based largely on the ideas he/they represent. What if all the worst things in your life were a part of some person's plan to perpetuate his life and ruel? What if every time you did _anything_ that filed to mesh with the Sacred Timeline, a squad of highly trained time traveling soliders with above-quantum tear tech, capable of rendering even the most unstoppable forces in existence mere paperweights that would come get you, erase your time line or effectively replace you with a version that had no idea what happened, put you on trial like a war criminal, then either feed you to an invincible monster or mind wipe/inslave you? What if you somehow managed to get to the one in charge, take whoever it is out, then, discover to your horror that you've effectively unleashed an infinite number of versions of this person, each more powerful, intelligent, and wicked than the last? How do you fight *_THAT!?_* It's the stuff of nightmares - a true rabbit hole of terror.

Omg that final scene with Loki and Silvie was so sad. He opened his heart to her and begged her not to kill Kang. Or that version of him. I was so happy when she kissed him. Then she just up and sent him back to the TVA because she couldn’t trust him or let go of her own personal feelings about taking down the person in charge of all of this. But she caused a lot of interesting events by killing that version of Kang. As much as I wanted her to listen to Loki, that wouldn’t have set up s2 as well. And Mobius forgetting Loki was heartbreaking too. He lost everyone! This episode was crazy! I wonder if Loki and Silvie will reconcile or reunite down the line? I didn’t see it as a betrayal. I saw it as I care about you so I’m kissing you. But I also can’t let this go so I’m sending you away.

@@n0body550 Initially, so did I but as I thought about it more, I don't think there could be multiple TVAs. Could you imagine if there was a TVA in EVERY universe? Each TVA would be trying to monitor and police based on their own universe's experiences. The only way that the TVA works as an actual gatekeeper is if there's only one. So, unless there's multiple Mobius' AT the TVA itself, that has to be the Mobius we've known all along.

Since the last episode I had a filling that the person beyond the void was going to be an Immortus variant of Kang the conqueror. My reasoning in thinking Immortus is because the castle floating outside of time & space reminded me 4 part story arc "Beyond Good & Evil" in the 90s X-men animated series where a time janitor who calls himself Bender at the end of the 4th episode reveals to us the viewers his original form Immortus.

I feel that when He Who Remains/Kang said that he didn't know what would happen after the 'Threshold', that he was lying again. The way he conveniently slid his super TemPad to the edge of the desk, right where Sylvie could grab it, and the 'useful' files he sent to Ravonna? He knew they weren't going to go for option two and that Sylvie was going to kill him.

He didn’t actually know because of where they were at. The Citadel lies at the end of time. There isn’t anything after that, so just about everything that happened in the castle was “new time” or things that hadn’t been written yet. So Kang only knew what would happen up to a specific point, hence the “threshold” and everything after that is unknown.

The multiverse was created in the 60s. That was a version of Kang, and I think the statue is Kang Conquer. If you remember the nexus ad in Wandavision, she's a Nexus being. More powerful than the infinity stones.

Loki was willing to put other people's lives above what he wanted. He was genuinely upset about what could happen. He was the sensible one. Loki grew up, his evolution is extraordinary, I'm proud of him. Sylvie was selfish, she only thought of her mission. And no, Mobius didn't betray Loki. He tried to tell the truth. I'm sad he doesn't remember Loki. Another thing Sylvie took away from Loki. He was upset about losing his friend. What your heard in the beginning was everything that happened in the timeline. The circle of light is the "sacred" timeline. That intro almost made me cry.

I understand why Sylvie killed He Who Remains. Imagine having a childhood like she experienced. Growing up in worlds that was destined to erupt, over and over again, throughout most of her life. I'd be pissed too. BUT, revenge is a terrible thing, and at that moment, she was only able to see him dead for the life she was forced to live. I get it, and I feel for her. But she started something epic; that she's going to have to see play out; re-living all of it on a much bigger scale. Now, it's her fault.

Sylvie may have had a meaningless victory, in which she killed He Who Remains, releasing his Variant self, Kang the Conqueror and all of his/their other Variants 😰😱, as well as both literally and figuratively pushing Loki away, hurting him (emotionally) in the process 🥺😣😔, but, at least she restored free will by allowing the Multiverse to be regrown, while there _will_ be a lot more villains, there will _also_ be a lot more heroes to rise up to stand against them 😤(proud)😉. In the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, they showed the Spider-Verse, in which while there was one out of all of Spider-People in the Multiverse that that was completely evil 😈 called Wolf Spider, and using a magical artifact, tried to absorb the power of any and all Spider-People, but, when he finally caught _all_ of them, it destroyed him because all of the good inside of everyone else, was like poison to Wolf Spider and it destroyed him 😉 👍. Point is, a central theme in pretty much any hero story, when (to semi-quote ( _gags_ because he's a despicable character, and also creepy (not just in looks, but in his origins 😰😓)) Snoke from _Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi_ , when "darkness rises, light is there to meet it". (I know, it sounds corny 😅😓, but, I really enjoy the concept, because it pertains to both fiction _and_ in real life 😌.)

You guys just made me think of something. This is 2012 Loki. I heard stuff in the beginning that were at least in Infinity War. Could it have split to bring Fox Quicksilver in? They never addressed that the alarms were going off right before he showed up. Wonder if this is why the Eternals have to come in? I love not knowing and being surprised except for Miss Minutes butt.
