🔴 i know most people skip the intro so i’m putting it here too: this video was a solid 40 minutes long so i did remove my “reaction” to songs i already knew. (my future, Your Power, Therefore I Am and Lost Cause) the commentary is in the Patreon cut because i did film myself listening to those songs, but i promise you’re not missing much. ALSO: this is an album where i did feel the need to do a ’24 hours later’ update so you will find that at the end of the video. thanks for being here, i appreciate you! 🌱 ✰ Patreon: www.patreon.com/thecaitlinmarie ✰ Instagram: instagram.com/the.caitlin.marie/ ✰ Twitter: twitter.com/thecaitlinmarie ✰ Personal Channel: ru-vid.com/show-UCSmfmg6Vhr2CJzQ6HvhqUxg
finneas did such a good job producing this entire album. i see why he is only billie's producer. halley's comet, happier than ever, everybody cries and male fanasty was my favs.
for the people saying I clickbaited you with the title... when I said it did not make me HAPPY I meant it made me SAD... how is that difficult to understand we-
It's definitely a grower album. I disliked most of the album whenever I first heard it, but now I'm chill with most of them, and I am OBSESSED with quite a few song from the album (mainly NDA, Goldwing, Male Fantasy, and Happier Than Ever)
Bossa Nova is a Brazilian style of popular music, close to samba, but with jazz influence and billie has even said she likes this style so I was really happy she added it to the album oh gooooood this track is so nice to listen to one of best of the album in my opinion
I love how theres something for everyone on this album like some people love the slower songs and dont vibe with the faster ones and some are the opposite and thats on VERSATILITY
this album gets better with every listen! the first time i listened to it, i was alone in my apartment just getting some chores done, and i was making pasta when HTE came on.... and when i tell you i was sobbing from the intensity over my noodles XD it was a whole experience lmao
billie usually holds her emotion in well while singing and she is so controlled but in the second half of this song she let all the emotion out and just singed her heart out
billie is sooo versatile. some people love songs like Oxytocin while others like songs like Everybody Dies. She makes songs for everyone doesnt stick to one style
Fun fact: NDA transitions into Therefore I Am. It's one of the best transitions like ever. 23:52 Red (Taylor's Version) out November 19!? Yeah I'm excited for that too. I already know the vault songs and the 10 minutes version. I miss Billie with black and green hair but I like her with blonde hair and this album is so different from the debut album. I feel like Happier Than Ever could've been the last song and best for last.
Fun fact: Billie in the lyric mode on spotify said that nothing should end with an angry beat, so that's why she ended with male fantasy which sounds like a lullaby to her
Am i the only one that doesn't miss the old Billie? I mean I loved it, but I love where she's going for! Love her growing, and that's why she's my favorite artist for a long time! Maybe because I'm basically her age, and I'm growing like her, I feel what she feels. What she's doing at 19 is amazing! She will be remembered for many years, this is just the beginning!
Okay but can we appreciate her honesty? Like it is totally okay to not like every song and I feel like so many fans get mad if you don't. I personally was more in love with the "weird" and fast songs like Oxytocin. And it's so interesting to see that some people like the slow songs more. There is something for everyone on the album and I love that.
I feel like Billie is yelling her heart out for me in Happier than ever, this song makes me so happy, so so happy. I have the feeling I can't yell, my mouth is shut, constantly having to shut the fuck up, and Billie is there to yell for me, so thank u Billie.
not my responsibility was a short film she made about a year ago in protest of people judging her for her body, and i think it's awesome that she decided to put it in the album
I love the happier than ever music video. It’s literally a visual representation of what it feels like to be in an abusive relationship. When she’s in the house it represents that sort of conscious decision to ignore all the red flags, all the shit you’re going through and pretend you’re fine and happy. She’s holding onto anything positive and trying to redeem all the “positive, loving” things she’s gotten from her relationship but you reach a point where there’s nothing left. You can’t pretend anymore and as we reach that point (about the middle of the song) that façade starts to break down and you start to realize the weight of pain you’re in. You can see confusion on her face as she looks around more than fear because often times we basically convince ourselves we’re happy even though subconsciously we know we’re quite the opposite. We lie to ourselves so consistently and convincingly that we genuinely believe we’re happy or content and when that façade starts to break down we’re legitimately confused. Then she opens the door and is submerged into that water and again, that’s literally how it feels. We’re forced to face the reality of the situation and it’s suffocating. You not only have to come to terms with you lying to yourself, but also how you’re being treated, how miserable you are, whether or not you’re stuck in the situation or feel deserving of it and so on and so forth. It’s quite literally like a dam has broken and whereas most people deal with a steady water flow with the necessary tools to maintain that steady flow, we are not used to ANY water, nor do we have any tools to handle it when it all comes pouring out, leading us to end up being swept away by the current. You see her slowly start to swim up as the music starts changing and it’s getting the help you need, the support to get out of that situation and when she breaks the surface of the water it represents finally getting free of that hell. That feeling of rebirth, feeling the rain in your skin, feeling ALIVE. It’s feeling feelings you forgot you knew existed, much less ones you knew how to feel. And then the anger comes in which usually comes way after getting free. It’s finally knowing your self worth and basically saying “fuck you. Fuck you for taking away who I am and my happiness and fuck you if you think I’m going to EVER let you near me again” and getting all that pent up rage, betrayal, and hurt and using it against your abuser rather than turning it on yourself. It’s a beautiful visual representation of what goes on mentally that goes beyond just the lyrics and verbal meaning. It’s truly a masterpiece.
I can't imagine NOT getting chills at some point while listening to Billie!! She's a brilliant musician, director, and so much more! The new album opens with the song Getting Older - the song's last lines being, "I've had trauma, did things I didn't wanna Was too afraid to tell ya, but now, I think it's time" which serves to really open things and give the the room it needed to growo what ends up being another masterpiece! up for the remainder or the album clearing a way to get a lot out. ?! end lines telling us that she's going to spill a few bit and pieces about her life since she was 13-years old and Ocean Eyes when Viral,. If you're new to listening to Billy or have been skipping around from song to song, you're missing out. My unsolicited suggestion is to start with her EP Don't Smile At Me (15), Don't Smile AT Me, and next take your time listening (from Start to finish) to When We All Fall Asleep... She also does an awesome covered Michael Jackson's BAD - It, like everything Billie dies -
Male fantasy is definitely my number 1 as well! Some thing about it is just so haunting and beautiful at the same time. And how the song connects to the real world were in today of the idea of a male fantasy and I think it hit every aspect of that beautifully. Plus just her voice and the acoustic guitar absolutely lovely and so new and versatile for her voice and production. gives me chills every time I listen.🥺💕
OMG I GASPED. at 28:04 that picture of Billie on stage, that's my picture! I took it at her concert in DC in 2019. ahhhh this is so cool thank u for using it!!!! this just made my day (also it was my phone camera and I also edited it on my phone too, which is why it's a bit rough lmao)
@@caitlinmariereacts thank you!! lol, makes sense cuz I posted it on Unsplash (which is a photography website) and I used the hashtags "iphone" and "wallpaper". good to see that those hashtags work!!
Lol it’s funny because I remember saying two years ago that “she deserves to win all the rewards she was nominated for” and she ended up winning 5 out of 6 I believe and I was just so happy cause I’m a huge Billie fan and knew she deserved it. If she got another round of winning a bunch of Grammys in one night oof that would be something alright lol
I loved all her songs and the fact that they didn’t use cgi in her music videos was amazing. I find it funny that she actually just got water launched at her when she opened the door.
finally someone who listens with headphones! the sounds that made you feel uncomfortable ,like in "didn't change my number", are so interesting with headphones
the music video means that she was in a beautiful room and there was leaks, which means that she didnt know she was being abused in that relationship and then when she opens the door, thats how she knew she was being abused and ya
That outro in “i didn’t change my number” is the vibration of our cell phone when we don't want to answer to someone and you listen that vibration on and on hoping that person will stop calling you, so accurate … genius song, for me one of my favorite from Billie her vocals and that music vibe instrumentation reminds me a lot of 20-60s of music. Her vocals are so old jazz classic. I’m always so obsessed in that musical genre from her. This album is a masterpiece, so many elements from more than 10 musical genres, so many influences together.
This past week and especially today has been pretty terrible for me, so I’m just gonna just chill out, lay in bed and enjoy this reaction because it’s self care hours
For half a second I thought I had accidently commented something cause SAME. This has been a pretty crappy week for me and today was ROUGH. So I was soooo excited to see that Caitlin had posted this reaction.
Billie was going to end the album with Happier than ever but she explained how nothing should ever end on a angry note and she wrote make fantasy to play me it on a light note 👍 I guess it’s better to end it more sad than angry LOL
I don’t know how many times I’ve listened to happier than ever, but every single time without fail (including listening to it through reactions) it gives me chills that’s when you know how powerful a song is
honestly the most awaited reaction ever for me CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT SHE PUTTING THE RED (taylor’s version) IN THE MIDDLE OF HAPPIER THAN EVER LMAO love u so much 💕🇧🇷
Caitlin is one of the best reactors on RU-vid... I can say for sure....... Luv yaaaa 😃😃😃😃..... She's a queen Bille wrecked usss.....but were here for it,......yassss 🤧🤧🤧🤧
@@caitlinmariereacts When a song or an album comes out, after watching your reaction vid I go straight to theirs.... I follow them too... All of u are super great..... 😃
can we talk about the lyrical brilliance that is "I could talk about every time that you showed up on time but I'd have an empty line cuz you never did"
I'm so sorry you weren't feeling well during the video 😭 I was sad to see you sick! I love your reactions towards this too, the editing is always great. My favs are Getting Older, NDA, Happier Than Ever, GOLDWING, OverHeated and Oxytocin. I hope she does more rock in the future because Happier Than Ever hit me in that emo punk pop part of my heart
male fantasy is my favourite off the entire album 🥺💛💞💗❤️ its so so cute and the guitar in the background is awww🥺 i love album endings, they always make me cry🥺
I love happier than ever (song) because it starts out with her all soft and mellow, trying to express her emotions in a calm way, and then goes into her screaming because she’s so hurt she can’t hold it back anymore
Finally, someone else loves Male Fantasy even more than Happier Than Ever! I mean, I love all 16 tracks, but MF is #1 for me. The live vid for it is exquisite too! Thanks!
Oxytocin wants to make u feel like billie is killing you. One person that reacted said: i feel like im on the edge of a volcano and like… billie is going of push me in.
Aww, you missed the awesome NDA transition into Therefore I Am… although, this is a year old so you probably have already heard it 😅 Love your reactions ❤❤
It's so nice to hear a review from a fan that prefers Billie's slower songs! I personally don't love this album like I did her first (although it grew on me!) so it's nice to see that I'm not the odd one out lol
About the water dropping in the house, watch the behind the scenes video she explains the water comes slowly because you don’t realise when your being abused until it gets really bad which is why the house floods.
listened to it after a night w my friends and i just parked my car after dropping them off and listened to it in the dark at 12 am and it was an experience
