I’m a die-hard Cure fan. It’s a trip seeing Budgie playing this, and the moody Blade Runner keyboards give it a different edge. It’s doesn’t have to be better, it has to be good. And it’s good.
Fun The Creatures story as I'm sure you'll appreciate. Saw them in San Francisco many moons ago and at one point Siouxsie, between songs, says something like "you know that feeling you get, that things aren't right, and that you're all alone? Well, you are!" then Budgie banged the drum at that moment and they launched into whatever song
What a treat! Two legends! What a great version! The bass player is doing this classic, so much good! His bass, is beautiful! Did not know Lol Tolhurst, was still playing. His photos are amazing! I've been a Cure and Banshees fan, since about 83'.
Really great to see Lol and Budgie together doing a Cure song! 40 years ago Robert and Steve Severin collaborated on the Glove. Severin played bass on some live Cure shows and Robert came to the rescue in the early part of Siouxsie and the Banshees' career and was even a member for a brief time between 1983-84. The kinship between The Cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees is just so genuine and wonderful to see. It continues to this day!
Jesus Christ Budgie. my fav drummer. if i didnt see him playng his trademark style i'd never recognize him. Siouxsie and the Banshees was my second concert aged 14 and it was fantastic.
wow ... long long time ago... so great to see those two together... so older so better like a good wine... do i'll love it... great sound ... well done KEXP❤🤘🏻
Nice to see them having fun, and enjoying their muse. Lol is presenting similar very basic keyboards skills as myself (sausage fingers here) but we know he’s played drums and kbds so often in the past, he’s just dumbed it down to give this interpretation of A Forest. Budgie working hard, bassist too low in mix. Really nice to see though, main thing for me is to see them fit and well and happy. Keep doing what you do guys. ❤
@@captainfeedback1 I was trying to be kind 😉 I’ve had synths for forty years and I know how it is. I’m not the best, so I feel for any other artist who is the same. We just love music, even if we aren’t the greatest at our button-pushing etc. cheers.
It’s okay, and especially this collaboration is fun. I find the choice of song a bit obvious, and it’s performed a bit slow, but hey, glad these guys are still around in times when everybody seems to be dying. Hope they’ll try make some new tunes.
Faaaab. I hope this is going to get a right good studio quality release. A Forest is one of those songs that is really medicine more than music. I think I first heard it in 1982 when a friend suggested I check out the Seventeen Seconds LP. It's hard to imagine a bad version of it.
Surprised that Robert or the label didnt kybosh this being done. Props I guess. You could really see the young bass player feel the spirit as the song went on. Well done.
We subscribed to KEXP to hear weird and fun stuff. A lot of the music featured is not supposed to appeal to everyone. If it's not for you just move on without bringing the vibe down!
@@selfempower3960 I know when I've shared my art to the world the last place I would look to for thoughtful criticism is the comments section. I prefer documentary length deconstructions of "bad art". If you like criticism, I highly recommend Folding Ideas. One or two sentences in the comments section though? Scant, flavorless, and no fun at parties.
Personally I love the song as it is. However I love Budgie very much. And Siouxsie too. The Cure and The Siouxsie and the Banshees make my heart happy.
As an early 80´s The Cure fan this is so damn overplayed/covered/remixed/sampled etc, etc ... that this arrangement sounds way more rewarding than the original. Thanks a lot for this !
