When you're soon to turn 73, a tune like this, so well presented by two lovely ladies, brings back memories from the past. That's a great thing we all need. Brings back the memory of when I fell in love for the fist time - and it was great and touching to think of the first wobbly steps you took. So big bow for my favorite twins and thank you.
I just recently found this song (I'm 21 next month), and I love how it embraces pansexuality and the steps that are taken when somebody falls in love with someone they didn't expect to be so different than what they're used to. From the beginning curiosity, to the confusion, to the love. It's all there. I'm a pansexual woman myself, and this song really hits home for me. These girls did a great job covering the song.
I love these ladies for many reasons, but one HUGE reason is that they are bringing new life into some of these great songs. I help out in a music store on occasions and I have noticed some many teens coming in now, asking me to show them how to play so many of these types of songs, especially songs by the Beatles, that these ladies have breathed new life into. I am thankful for that. They are very straight forward and talented.
I am 68, an old roadie from the 60s and 70s and all I can say is “damn kids these days just Gotta make an old man shake his head… in wonder” Keep it up ladies you’re truly some thing special. 💕🇨🇦💕
@@CountBlackula6 Yes, that cover is absolutely brilliant. But I have never been disappointed with anything these two girls do; they are absolutely fantastic!
Wow! Best cover of "Lola" ever! Unrivaled harmonies from Mona and Lisa, not to mention their awesome instrumental prowess and versatility! And their dad ain't half bad either! Whether classic covers or fresh originals, this family always impresses!
I swear, there hasn't been even ONE song (original AND covers) that isn't top notch and superbly done. Thank you for ANOTHER well done offering, Mona, Lisa, and Rudi!
Friday June 26, 2020...My Guitar Gently Weeps tops 4 million views ...Congrats to the Twins for another milestone..and...later today or tomorrow Drive My Car will top 4 million....thank you girls for giving us some great music!!!!
What more could you ever want? Two gorgeous young ladies and a great song sung and played brilliantly. Oh! And we can't forget dad too. Nice one pops ;-))...
Way to go Mona and Lisa! Your cover of The Kinks' "Lola" is magnificent!! Lisa, I love your little Fender 🎸, and Mona's fun and funny expressions are priceless ☺️ Kudos to your Papa Rudi as well 😃 Thanks for the smiles and happiness 😁
I was lucky enought to see the Kinks live way back when. This version is so much more fun and better with beautiful Mona and Lisa singing these lyrics!! You two really ROCK!!
“Lola” EXPLODES at 0:34, and I play it loud over and over. Whooof! Love the way Papa Rudi’s bass picks you up and carries you like an undercurrent off into the song. Of the contagious things in the world, I'm so grateful I've contracted the Twins and “Lola” and not that other thing. Every time I see this, which is often, I just want to jump up and make fabulous music myself. Every time! And every time, mine's not that fabulous, but I can't help myself.Thank you!
Wonderful performance ladies. Nice to see Mona taking some of the lead vocal again. Would love to see you do "Sunny Afternoon" someday. Thanks so much for making this video for us. Good to see Rudi on bass and keyboard. Hope you all stay safe and keep on being so sweet and adorable.
I've watched this video close to 50 times now and I still get a chuckle out the heavy emphasis on the second syllable of Lo-LA...they really kick that out. GREAT JOB ladies...Bravo!!!! Definitely a favourite video of mine.
I love their cover of "Lola". Whenever I see Mona flip that tambourine and smile it always brings a big smile to my face. I think Rudy was especially cool in this video. I would love to see Michaela perform again.
These gorgeous two ladies must have put a spell on me. I have been listening to their music religiously the past several days. Just kidding, I thoroughly enjoy your recordings. Best Wishes from the USA 🇺🇸.
Funny you should say that. I just watched Mona singing "Twist and Shout" as a thirteen year old. She was good then, now she's great. They both are. I really really hope I can see them live someday. I'll put it on my bucket list.
Isn’t this wonderful? A brilliant new twist on one of the great 60s classic numbers. The seemingly effortless perfection can only come from a huge amount of hard work over years. Thank you for this.
This is my wife’s favorite MonaLisa Twins cover. I can not choose a favorite. If you like this, listen to any of their original songs. This band sounds like they just jumped out of the past, and luckily landed right here for us to enjoy. Bravo!
Well, I'm not the world's most musical guy But I listen lots and they blow my mind MonaLisa, mo-mo-MonaLisa mo-mo-MonaLisa... Very nice indeed, ladies. Thank you. Stay safe and take care of those you love.
Best cover version I've seen. So crisp and clean. You hear every word. Well done for a great production. I was a student when the original came out, which I have on vinyl. I'm a teacher now, and it's fantastic to see current students appreciate this song.
Can't get enough of them, their music is so tight, oh and thanks Ladies and the band for bringing back the music of my time, all you guys, your father all the band are making that music...what it was, is, and will be. Peace Love Y'all...coming from Canada.
Wow! Today, Mona & Lisa showed up in my music browsing, as they have similar music to an artist I follow on RU-vid. So far, I must have watched 20 videos of theirs today. I am super-impressed with everything I've seen, and a bit sad I've never heard of them before today. I've been a long-time follower of the Indigo Girls from since 1988 or '89, when they first emerged. Mona & Lisa, with their original music, catch that same vibe which drew me to the IG. Amazing!
Wow, so good. This is almost as good as the original and an old guy like me was around way back in the day when it first came out. Just wow. Like so many other retro-loving people are saying, these gals are bringing us so much joy with their covers of the old songs. More!!!!
Wow!! Must have been quite an honor to have Ray Davies get ahold of you! This is an awesome cover! (my favorite) 50 year anniversary?? WTF?? am I that old? (guess so) Thanks my friends!
I absolutely love, love, love your cover of "Lola" by the Kinks. It's one of my favorite covers. It is so energetic and fun. The vocals are awesome, but that's a given on any song you do. Love Mona's guitar rhythm and her tempo drumming; spot on. Also love Lisa's picking a little guitar and a lot of guitar! The video is great work showing, not only your talents, but also how much fun you are having. I always have fun watching this video and it always cheers me up. A fantastic cover!!
Just got into these two ladies recently and I can't get enough of them. Fresh takes on classic music. Keep doin what you are doin ladies...it is definitely a treat listening to you. And the character of your videos is witty and very entertaining.
Another awesome cover from Mona and Lisa. And so nice to see Papa Rudi joining in on bass and keyboards on this wonderful fiftieth anniversary cover of a Ray Davies’ classic. He would no doubt be impressed. I just love Lisa’s outfit here. There should be more Orange in this clockwork, lockdown world. Also great to see Lisa playing the electric mandolin and Mona continuing the recent trend of her taking lead vocal duties. Thank you Rudolf for also including some of her drumming in this video. Mona, your father would no doubt be impressed with your acting skills. You've obviously had an excellent mentor. 💛❤️
I've listened to this song literally several hundred times between the original and live versions and it's so ingrained in my head that hearing this version is like getting slapped in the face. But in a good and necessary way, like when someone is delirious or comatose and that slap wakes them up or saves their lives, this really woke me up and got my attention! Weird Al did a brilliant take, but that of course was parody. This is a true tribute. So refreshing and so different! And, like many others, I just get a big smile from the bottom of my soul when Mona makes that happy face with the tambourine.
“Lola” EXPLODES at 0:34, and I play it loud over and over. Whooof! Papa Rudi’s bass is a big part of it and a big part of a lot of MonaLisa Twins music. He comes in hard and high in the mix (he said, as if he knew about mixes) but without being intrusive. The tone is beautiful in a way I'd like to know more about, and it picks you up and carries you like an undercurrent off into the dreamy realm of the song. Thank you!
WOW! What an awesome song! IN this day and age too! Ray Davies and LOLA are psyched! and hopefully everyone else who stumbled upon this and watched and listened! That kinda really looked like JOY OF MUSIC STYLE STUFF TO ME! I am gonna watch it again!
Fantastic ! The best version ever from this song. It+s nice to see father Rudi too on piano, bass and camera ! Happy Lola Day Mona and Lisa ! Stay groovy !
You ladies never cease to amaze me. after 55 years in the music business and work with countless artists I can say with all certainty that your fan base will continue to grow.Wonderful take on a great song
These two ladies are both incredibly talented. I have to say, I'm happy to see Mona take lead on this one and I hope she does more in the future. She is too talented to stay in the background. I love her voice. These two make music as it should be...pure.
These ladies are so talented. Please support them. This video is just a sample of how good they are. And their original music is in a class by it self. As they both say ...stay groovy!
I just realized its #LolaDay when looking up the original. Great hearing Mona sing lead vocals, great cover...with your clear english its the first time that I really listened to the lyrics and the story of the song :)
I agree The Kinks are also a favorite group of mine “ Girl you really got me “ is another one of their classics I love that song. You did an excellent cover of “ Lola “ really enjoyed your version of it and it was nice to see you both back and great as ever. Thank You, I’m looking forward to any new and up coming projects stay groovie
What a good job of a great old Kinks tune. I bet a lot of coots like me sat up and listened to this one. All the garage bands of the 60's loved the Kinks. My mom and dad got more than they wanted of Kinks' songs. Thanks for sharing this well done version with us. You ladies are quite special. I love listening to you.
The best thing about Mona and Lisa is that when they do covers, they dont try to create some new kink or cuisine but they play the song like it originally was created. Not trying to do something new or different, but the same! Wonderful :)
When they do make changes, they're usually pretty subtle. Almost always it's taking out something that maybe was faddish when the song was recorded by is now just dated. Listen to their cover of the Paul McCartney "Wonderful Christmastime" and compare to the original. They got rid of the heavy 80s keyboard sound and made the song fresh without destroying its identity as Paul McCartney's song.
Ray Davies has to be really happy with. I know that I am. I was 23 then so have loved this song for 50 years. Well done, as always. It has to take a lot of work to put out a video like this. A whole lot of forethought and planning. One shot of the whole song and many shots of the different segments that are incorporated into the video. I guess that Papa Rudi does that computer work. These videos look seamless.
You two are just great. I love how you mix fun, excellent vocals, and care to play well. I grew up in the sixties and seventies with this great music. I thought psychedelic music was cool and mysterious and left the poppy-rock behind. Now I still love Cream(not really psychedelic.) but dont care if I hear much of the popular music of the late 60's and early 70's that seemed so important. Too much distortion and bombast maybe. Now I see the great "pop and rock of the Hollies, pre-Pepper Beatles, Kinks, and so on were real songs, fun, and with singable lyrics and really chord sequences that outlast sometimes pretentious late sixties and early seventies stuff & I'm so glad you have breathed new life into this songs.
One of my favorite MLT videos. First, a great song selection! Second, you cover all the instruments - with a helping hand on keyboards, bass and video from Papa Rudi! Third, you girls look like you are having so much fun while producing this! EX-cellent on all levels. Keep the music coming MLT!
Must have looked at this video half dozen times already and each time like it more. Starting out with how you pronounce "lola" and winds up at the end where both of you are having such a good time at it. Love your camaraderie (not all siblings have this, just ask Ray Davies!, lol) and hope it continues. Pray for the day things are cleaned up and you play her in the US (NY particularly). Thanks again for sharing your wonderful talent.
This has become a go-to for me any time I want a happy, upbeat video. All the cooler for coming from unabashedly joyful women. But I wonder, whatever gave Ray Davies the idea to suggest that the MonaLisa Twins cover this song for its 50th anniversary?
Thank you young Lady's : ) always a total pleasure to see your beautiful wonderfulness. I Can never pick the one i love the most, your both so perfect in every way. to see your pride in jamming with your father is total cool. Thank you as always. your friend Duane. : ) : ) : ) a smile to you three from Me!!! God bless and take care from Texas ✌
