An Inside Look into Local Businesses and the Stories Behind Them.
Feature 01: Lola's Tea House.
In 2005 Leslie Allick's father was diagnosed with cancer in the terminal stages. Through conversations with her father during the year that she cared for him, Leslie learned about her family history and their link to the tea industry. Not only did Leslie come from a family of tea drinkers (via her Dutch/Caribbean ancestry) but her great grandfather worked at Haviland tea manufacturing company in NYC. She discovered this was the reason behind the varieties of teacups, saucers and plates in her household. After her Dad passed away in June 2006, Leslie decided to quit her full time job and open a boutique tea house in honor of her father and family legacy.
