I think you'll sell a whole bunch of these! Bravo. By the way, you'll need to update the FAQ sections for your "normal" P-90s. "Do you make noiseless P-90s?" Why yes!
Love Lollar P 90's . I always have some here just waiting to be put in a guitar somehow. Now I have to try these. Sure sounded great through the earbuds.
Sounds interesting. I made the switch from p90’s to Super’trons, on my main guitars, a while back. This kind of reminds me of those but, with a little more growl & less shine. I still love P90’s, but for the reasons mentioned, I needed the change. I need to give these a try.
Interesting, This could be a gamechanger for me - I’ve been looking for something like this for years. They immediately sounded great in the demo, with all the single coil dynamics I need but in the much thicker (p90) harmonic range. If you could make them fit a standard humbucker surround and offer a nickel or chrome cover I would 100% buy… I would want to fit them into my semi-hollows so routing out the body to try them out is not a realistic option.
You might like our Eldorado humbucker, which has much more singlecoil-like attack and touch sensitivity, while still retaining the body and hum-cancelling functionality of a humbucker. They're not currently available with metal covers, but they seem like they might meet your sonic requirements. Here's a link to the Eldorado product page: www.lollarguitars.com/lollar-humbucker-pickups/eldorado-humbucker
No dogears....😪 I use the regular Lollar dogears in my guitars so I would appreciate noiseless dogears. A comparison vid between regular and noiseless P90 would also appreciated
We may offer a Dogear version in the future, we're not sure just yet. But that will require some fairly involved tooling to get a metal Dogear baseplate to accommodate the design. In fact, it would need to be FIVE different baseplates to account for all of the various height and string spacing options that we offer for Doear P90s, each of which will take thousands of dollars apiece to get through the R&D process and bring to fruition. Since we weren't sure what the demand for these would be, we opted to start with the Soapbar version, since it required no additional tooling or anything of that magnitude.
That is correct. It's not quite the same as, say for example, a Minihumbucker, in a Soapbar P90 cover; the design is a bit more unique than that. But yes, it is a true dual coil, humbucking pickup.
I think they'd be complimentary. I might choose to go with the Low Wind Imperial in the bridge though, for a little better balance in output and tone. A standard Imperial could work also, but the bridge would be a bit hotter and fatter. But, if that's what you're going for, then that's probably your best bet.
It could be those things. But they may also just not be to your liking. These things are so subjective and we understand that not everyone will like everything we offer, and that's totally ok. That's why we offer a 30 day exchange policy on our pickups. We know that sometimes a player might just not like something that we make and the only way to know for sure is to have it in your signal chain. RU-vid can only offer so much perspective and it's never quite like playing the thing yourself.
Not entirely secret, it's a humbucking pickup built to fit into a Soapbar P90 cover. The specifics of the design, such as wire, magnets, etc. aren't something that we normally publish, but the overall design is fairly normal, for what it is.
