Welcome back to another film photography review, today's film stock is the beautiful Lomochrome Purple by Lomography. The Film First series is a collection of videos where we try new film stocks for the very first time, we then return home to give a little overview of the film itself, our thoughts and feelings about the film and our overall rating.
Today we travelled around the marsh to a few different locations that we had in mind. We found some amazing compositions and were blown away by the some of the shots so definitely stick around for this one.

Lomochrome Purple is a film stock that would have been in its element in the 1960's - Flower Power, Psychadelia, and the Pop Art movement. It wouldn't be everyones cup of tea, but Josh nailed it when he said it gets you out of your comfort zone. It appears almost Infra Red, certainly in the Yellow/Green portion of the spectrum. I particularly liked both of your shots of the windmill, almost dream sequence stuff. I wasn't aware that the effect is ISO dependent - I wonder what chemistry causes that effect, and I wonder if it would cross process for really weird shots? Shame about the light leak in the Zenith 80, is it repairable? I looked at them when I was buying my Bronica EC, they are really good value if you get a good one, and the lenses are interchangeable with the Pentacon Six. Yet another great Friday episode, just another 336 hours to wait until the next one!! George

Hey George! 👋 I reckon you're definitely right there, this would of thrived back then I imagine! It's pretty much the next best thing to kodaks aerochrome... If you haven't seen any of that definitely check it out, it's a very interesting film... one I don't think we will ever be able to get our hands on 😟 I'm not sure on the chemistry behind it 🤔 I do follow a fellow RU-vidr who messes around with different processing and managed to somehow accidentally develop and scan lomochrome back to looking like a normal colour film stock... 🤷‍♂️ Definitely a bit of a shame, can't be helped unfortunately. Since then Tom has actually sold that and got himself a little surprise for the channel 😊 I'm sure it will make an appearance in the very near future 👍 Thanks as always for your kind words! I think these are just really great photos, made more interesting by the purple and red tints. You cats have a good foundation in photography and are good at finding interesting subjects to shoot very well.

Well another sick video I love the look of it deffiantly one for me to try it's definitely like a colour version of infrared bnw film which I haven't used be interesting for me to use I love all the shots !!

Nice shots! I'm wondering though, from what I saw from other sources, it seems that for the majority, the purple is less vibrant than what shown in this video. Is there any specific post processing? I love the vibrant purple look!

Hey! Thank you so much 🙏 a lot of things can play into how the end product looks, in this case we shot at specific film speeds and scanned through a Fuji Frontier (The Latent Lab) and I can honestly say there were little to no adjustments needed on most of the shots 😊 there were a few that needed a little brightening but other than that they are almost straight from the camera.
