Well I was pretty surprised at this film... wasn't expecting that!

I'm pretty sure I've used Lady Grey before, but it must have been quite a few years ago, I have no real memory of it. The the lovely peeps at Lomography got in touch and said they wanted to send me some films to try out. Now, I'm hardly going to say no am I?
I tried not to do too much investigating before I did this shoot, I wanted to go in pretty blind, just shoot the film and see what came out. So that's what I did, got hold of my friend Rob, who has a cracking look and doesn't mind being photographed, and we headed out into the Forest of Dean for a morning.
I was expecting a bit of a "lomo" look, a bit new age film photography, high contrast, heavy grain etc. But this film is none of those things!
Grain is really pretty amazing for a 400ASA film, it's just about the right level to give the images some texture, but not so much that you're overwhelmed by it, or it starts messing with the details.
Obviously this is 120 film, so proportionally the grain is going to be more subtle than on 35mm.
Overall though, I really enjoyed shooting this film, and I'm really happy with the results.
Before any of you start going off about how you can't compare a 400ISO film to a 125ISO film... I know! I'm not. Well, I am, but not expecting comparable results as far as grain is concerned. I want to see what the final images are like, that's all.
And in my defense I actually think it's an interesting comparison, more by luck than design... but the Lady Grey holds up pretty well against a 125 film, and that kinda says it all.
