Southern UK used to pronounce words like the northerners do. The South has always been more wealthy than the North and the people of London wanted a way to distinguish themselves from everyone else, so they started changing their rhotic speech to a soft r sound, saying words like winter as “win-tuh” instead of “win-terr”
Danny is trying to describe MLE which is multicultural London English,it evolved from the 1980s in a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds of London.
I never even thought of it that way. He has a very good point. Also as someone who is very hyper, I really appreciate people with Danny’s chilled out demeanour.
More London than Manchester, you can certainly hear it more in Michael’s accent, if you closed your eyes and heard Welbeck you’d have no idea about the influence, sounds like a Barry
I was born and have lived in London my whole life and there is a clear difference between the way I say Paul Pool Pull, there’s many different dialects within London
@@StoutProperIf I'm not mistaken, Welbeck was the first player of Ghanaian heritage to play for the England main team. And he made his debut against Ghana. I was at that match in 2011. Amazing occasion.
