London dispersion forces result from the coulombic interactions between instantaneous dipoles. Dispersion forces are present between all molecules (and atoms) and are typically greater for heavier, more polarizable molecules and molecules with larger surface areas. If you're referring to the story my chemistry teacher told me, then happiness is being without a goat. Just thought it was a funny coment. I'm sure my teacher is more of a goat than this guy.

Truly amazing, sir. Are both London dispersion forces and van der Walls' forces the same??
@chlol5385
@chlol5385 Год назад
London dispersion forces are one of the van der wall forces (it includes dipole-dipole, London dispersion forces, etc

So the “London dispersion” force has to do with attractive forces, not dispersive…?

I believe London dispersion forces are the cause of gravity. Or in other words the polarization of atoms causes gravity. It is the same thing as the Van der Walls force except that the Van der Walls force is between molecules, and is therefore stronger than gravity.
