@@PSYCHIC_PSYCHO That's right, blame the victim. I'm not sure where you hide something that size. Trains in depot sheds get graffitied and depots have security guards.

@@peterc.1618 Trains that are housed inside depot buildings don't get vandalised; only those that are parked in open-air sidings. Secondly it is not victim blaming to employ common-sense by storing something valuable out of sight and housed securely, it's common-sense.

It's not just London. It's really scary how many incidents of vandalism there have been on heritage railways and with heritage rolling stock around the country, and it's not even the summer holidays yet. It's even worse given that many heritage organisations are running on tight budgets at the moment, so the cost of repairs and potentially cancelling events really hurts them.

@@paulfitzpatrick3090OK ... that's a different take. I watch a fair bit on transit and NY is a frequent subject. On the whole, the appalling state a lot of us remember of The Subway's stock is largely a thing of the past. At track level, many stations look rather down at heel, same as London. For the most part, that's not due to vandalism. Well, not that sort at any rate.

No real deterrent for anything anymore, starts in school these days . Took 2 and a half hours to get through Calais port on Monday after Le Mans, they know everything about me, on Tuesday nearly 900 people crossed to Dover in dinghies, they know nothing about them. Can't see the red mob fixing any of our countries issues after they get elected on 4 July.

What the devil's going on here? The Isle of Wight managed to keep most of its 1938 stock going in public service and looking very respectable until withdrawal was unavoidable a few years ago. The people there could behave themselves. What's gone wrong with London?

@@bassetdad437 Why are no images or descriptions of the suspects provided?. There are cameras everywhere. Displat the images as, "Police want to speak with these persons who are possible witnesses". In other words: "Here are the criminals but we can't actually say that word until they're convicted". The absence of any description usually denotes one thing.

Last year a Dutch historic DMU from the early 1950's was vandalised. Windows were smashed in, almost all seatcovers were cut with knives, walls ceilings spraypainted and one of the control cabs set on fire. All done in less then 10 minutes between guard patrols on the yard. Yes all is repairable but you must not forget often original replacement parts are often very rare and it takes way more time to restore then a modern train.

According to various forum discussions, the damage is mainly graffiti and is so no doubt not beyond repair. Pictures are not being published in order to not give the perpetrators the oxygen of publicity they so desire.

@@peterc.1618 Sadiq Khan has every right to blame successive Tory governments, because they have totally obliterated our country since 2010, public services and the economy. The Tory governments that have served during the Mayor's terms have deliberately sought to undermine Sadiq Khan because he represents Labour, they did so by severely limiting the Mayor's budget; and then pointing a finger at the Mayor so as to deceive Right-Wing-Retards like you. Lastly, no London Mayor has ever had the power to implement his own policies on how to tackle crime, such a power lies with the Central Government, and the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, a London Mayor merely decides on how much of his severely limited budget to allocate to policing; considering the above he is not responsible for escalating crime in London, that blame solely lies with the Central Governments past and present over the last 40+ years. A London Mayor has so much more power over public transport and highways. During the first lockdown, which was imposed by the Tory government, meant that there was unexpected high demand for emergency funding for London's public transport networks, ie the running of public transport vehicles even though considerably reduced passenger numbers meant less revenue being generated, and paying the wages of lots of staff who were in lockdown; but the Tories refused to give the Mayor the much needed funding, therefore the Mayor wasn't at fault.
