The part with the bird really got me. So emotional. To me it symbolises freedom and hope to “fly” again after all we’ve been through. This year has been a struggle for so many of us, but so many in the world struggle even more besides battling the virus. May this year be much better for all of us.
Honestly still look back and cry I am so proud of everyone for sticking together and staying strong and sending love to those who unfortunately didn’t make it 💙
I'm not just saying this because I live in London but this has probably been the most heartfelt and beautiful fireworks in the whole world ever. I'm not a Cryer. I never cry. But this. I cried and hard.

The Nightingale was breathtaking! The way the drones were condonated to move the wings was just awe inspiring seeing it in 2024 still gives me chills up my spine

London literally made it real!
Soon as I saw that bird, first thing I thought of was that it was representing those that didn't make it to see 2021. Not just because of the virus, but those who gave up the fight because it was too tough! They're finally flying high and free like a bird 😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️ anyone else feel it?

OMG I live in the USA all we do is watch a ball drop in New York City this is so much better then the way the us celebrated the new year this was a great show and had a great message I wish everyone who reads this a Happy New Year this show was incredible.
This made me cry properly for the first time since I was put on medication for my mental illnesses. I’ve had to be strong for my family, who mostly work for the NHS and have massive strain on them all year, so if I cried, they would suffer. Finally, after 10 months of holding it in for the year, now my parents are asleep, I have cried; and let me tell you, I’ve never been more relieved to cry so hard in my life. Thank you 💜
I'll be honest, i hoped and thought the BBC would do something secret like this to start off 2021 but i didn't expect anything this big, and I personal think that this years fireworks were better than any other year as it was across a whole city showing some of our landmarks instead of just Westminster. What a way to start 2021 off with a bang! So fair play BBC and the london authorities, thoroughly enjoyed that and has made my year. Happy New Year!!!
@@Jp_Miller_ They did take place today, I thought the same so was suprised seeing this on TV but when I went on snapchat theres loads of videos around london showing the display. They likely said it was cancelled to avoid crowds.
I teared up especially with the drone technology with that flying bird and the story of how 2020 has been. Best fireworks display! Happy new year and all the best for the future everyone!

i know exactly, i was driving around town listening to music just before midnight and there was so much police and ambulance's and like no one driving it was mad.
Oh boy! This one hit all the feels! NO other UK ceremony really had that effect its always been bland boring and repeatative. But the use of more locations such as Wembley and the o2, Tower Bridge, The light show and the stories told reflects back on a highly emotionally charged year with the sacrifice we all had to make and adapt to. How could you not tear up to this? This was beautiful and bittersweet at the same time, Hopefully this will be done again one day with crowds out to enjoy in person In much happier times!
I know I feel like 2021 countdown was filled with so much hope. It’s like as a world we were struggling and the new year gave a fresh start. It still makes me emotional now.

To be fair I didn’t think it was a patch on previous years, the lighting effects took your eyes of the fireworks and the music was pretty poor compared to other years

A really good display indeed. It's just a shame it it seemed more of a celebration about the pandemic and BLM than new years eve. Couldn't we have just left politics and pandemic aside for one night and enjoy the escapism of of a wonderful display............. apperently not.

London is amazing, I'm from the Midlands but love getting the train to London, was going to try and go in Jan 2020 but thought it'd be better once the weather warmed up, I have regretted that decision heavily for the last year
Indonesia is litteraly dead silence no firework, no shows, no countdown shows (except countdown in news TV and virtual livestreams). I am just at my home looking at window and not a single firework then go to sleep at 2.30 am waiting for a nonexistance celebration 😂

I was at home watching this on tv at midnight while everyone was outside setting fireworks celebrating the new year.The fireworks display was so beautiful. The lights were phenomenal and moving. 2020 was such a hard year for all of us. Let’s hope that 2021 will bring back a little normality sometimes happy new year everyone and stay safe.

The blue bird was a nightingale! The chosen symbol of the NHS because of Florence Nightingale and a nod to the Nightingale hospital that was built to care specifically for Covid patients. Happy new year!

i remember watching this as a 13 year old and being oddly overwhelmed. 2020 was the first year i actually struggled with my mental health, and the reflective yearly recap mixed with the joy that it was over was so much for me i remember crying the second i got back to my room. and here i am, crying again. i can’t believe it’s only been 2 years, it feels like nothing and everything at the same time, but i’m now 15 and i love new year more than christmas. i party hard now, with people who i didn’t even know this time 2 years ago. but coming back here 2 years on is so mad, the way things got worse and so much better at the same time, it’s still overwhelming. captain tom died, corona virus is practically gone. i can’t wait for what 2023 is going to bring. 🤍
