The first China Town was in London's East End, but it was pulverized during the Blitz. The current China Town in Shaftsbury was chosen by the Chinese in the 70s because it was rundown, crime ridden, and cheap. They moved in, set up businesses, improved the neighborhood, cleaned it up, and revitalized the area, increasing property values. As such, they have become the victims of their own success.
