History of architecture walking tour in the City of London. Chris takes you on a tour, from Tower Hill to St. Paul's Cathedral, exploring the layers of architectural history, from Roman origins, to the site of the Great Fire of London, to present-day, funky, hi-tech architecture - featuring guest appearances from: Christopher Wren, Samuel Pepys and Jack the Ripper.
Walk highlights: the Roman Wall; The Monument to the Great Fire of London; Leadenhall Market and the Roman Forum; The Gherkin, The Lloyd's Building and the Cheesgrater; The Roman Amphitheatre; and St. Paul's Cathedral.

ABOUT CHRIS:
Chris is a qualified architect and has lived in London for over 20 years. As well as working for a number of high-profile architectural practices in the city, he has spent over 15 years teaching the History of Architecture in London. Chris particularly enjoys giving guided tours and exploring the many layers of London's architectural history from its Roman origins to present day hi-tech architecture.

A very worthwhile watch, especially as I live in London. Congratulations on a great first video. A very interesting and passionate tour with a great depth of knowledge and nice graphics. What makes this special is "As an Architect" and long time Londoner, Chris has a unique insight into London Architecture. I am looking forward to seeing many more videos!

Hi Chris just to say another superb video...I lived in the city for 4 years just off bishopsgate across from Liverpool Street station... Christopher Wren is one of fravs.. I so miss St Paul's and his other churches and the Architecture in general....Thanks for the memories 😊....

Really enjoyed the content which is unfortunately let down by soft audio when speaking but then loud jarring music inbetween sections. Will watch another in the hope that this improves as very interesting and informative.

I do not understand why on minute 6:15 is said that there was a plot from catholics. When Christopher Wren got benefited re building the churches to the plain protestant style, letting everyone think that there was no catholics in the city. In addition, they offer to Wren to be on top of Monument and he did not accept because people would think that was him who started the fire.

Just one of the many theories was that it was a Catholic plot. I think the rumours just reflected the general paranoia about Catholism at the time. Remember it was only 100 years previously that the reformation took place and England broke away from Rome.
