OK I know this is expensive...but hey you only buy one and this looks so amazing. However you might not say that when you start to fit it!
I have the 1250GS with riding lights. These riding lights use the 8mm formed hex angular 'hole' in the frame that the Lone Rider bracket uses. I took off the side panels and beak to get to this. However in the end I use the 8mm nut in the correct position over the 6mm light bolt and the original 6mm nut clamps the bracket perfectly. Lone Rider do not mention this but you will be able to work it out as I did.
When it comes to the GSA then the riding lights are mounted on the engine bars so this is much easier. You can fix the bracket without removing any side panels. The right hand side is much harder than the left but it will fit.
If you want both units of the guard to fold dow, makes sense, then you need to remove the bottom mushroom and we replace with a stainless steel bolt and rubber grommet that is with the kit, well that is the method that worked for us? Use silicone grease on the mushrooms to make it much easier. Have fun.

What a GREAT video! I just installed mine and was scratching my head at first. Saw your video with the glue idea and the details on where specifically the bottom bracket mounted to and I had mine installed in 5 minutes!!! Thank you so much for the video!!👍👍

So pleased it worked for you Chris. Brilliant 🤩. Last year I traded in my 1250GS and took everything off because they do not want it and do not pay a penny. Fitted the Lone Rider to my mates 1250GS, had to watch my own video and we did it in minutes👌🏼🤣🤣

I just received mine. The nuts are now welded into the frame. For some reason, they also sent the nuts for the older revision like you have. Having the nuts welded makes this process of installing go so much easier. (Edited) After watching a couple of other videos, I see what happened. You leave the standoffs on the plexiglass. The plexiglass actually fits correctly in the gromets if you remove it from the hinged screen first. That was the part I missed. The standoffs on mine were installed incorrectly from Lonerider but after I switched them to the correct locations I was easily able to snap the plexiglass in place and then close the screen. I did pick up some BLAST brand Silicon Sprays to spray in the gromet holes which made everything go together easier and allowed the standoffs to slide in and out of the grommets easier. Now that it's done, it looks and works great.

Hi Barrett, that is very interesting 🤔. Think Lone Rider must have had a lot of negative comments about the installation. I also agree that their instructions are pretty useless, thought they would have made them much easier to understand 🤷🏼‍♂️

Also, some say you have to remove panels. You do not. It is easy to just slide the lower bracket underneath the side panel. You might have to use your fingers on the outside to pull the panel out slightly but there is no need to remove any panels. Once you drop the bottom bracket / nut into the hex hole you can simply use your hands and find the opening with the bolt and get it started on the threads. Then switch to the rachet tool to tighten.

On The 1250 GS 2021 that hexagonal bolt is irrelevant cause the Adaptive headlights extension "Plastic" Inserts go there and it is a Nightmare to get that headlight out without breaking those Nibs

The whole thing was a nightmare 😮. Managed to remove it with no problems and fitted it perfectly to my friends 1250GS 😊

I don't understand how you attach the bottom bolt where you glued that nut into?
@normski3091
@normski3091 11 месяцев назад
I refitted the unit to a mates GS the other week before I px my beloved 1250GS for a Goldwing…which is unbelievable 🤗. Gluing the nut in to the ‘frame’ is just to hold it there and the bolt goes through from the bottom. However I believe they may have changed the design a little🤷🏼‍♂️

Hi Norm. I just watched you tube vid of teapot 1 fit one on his 1200 GS . He said it was simple. It looks the same but I guess it Must be much harder on the 1250?
@normski3091

Yes I also watched it but crucially he does not fit the Perspex screen🤷🏼‍♂️. That makes it easy peasy🤣

Just a heads-up, if you damage or lose the yellow x part, LoneRider won’t sell it separately. This happened to me so I’ve now removed the whole thing. What a scam!...😡

Hi I’ve just bought the same protector. I have a 2022 1250gs with the factory fitted spot lights. Are you saying I do not have the bolt hole for the fixings due to the lights being there ?
@normski3091
@normski3091 2 года назад
Yes Stephen that is exactly right and caught me out for a while. But it is easily sorted. The bolt that devoured the lights is 6mm. Tahoe the nut off that, use the Line Rider 8mm nut as a ‘spacer’ to hold you headlight guard bracket and reuse the 6mm nut to bolt them all together. Works a treat. I also take the ‘mushroom’ studs off the Bottom of the guard so the whole grill and Perspex screen fold down for cleaning and maybe riding at night if you want more light. Hope all that makes sense?

@@normski3091 that’s good to know. Sounds like an easy fix. Thanks for replying 👍

@@stephenhendry447 meant to say Stephen that I took off the side panels and the beak because I just could not find the hexagonal 'hole' that Lone Rider spoke about. Once I took everything off it all made sense. On the GSA you can see the 'hole' straight away because the lights do not use the attachment point but are fixed on the engine bars. but having removed them the whole job was a lot easier because I could see what the problem was with the GS and what to do to solve it. I cannot understand why Lone Rider do not warn GS riders with Lights fitted by BMW what to look out for?
@Eliyahu87
@Eliyahu87 Год назад
@@normski3091but for the fog lights you have to take the beak off entirely to actually torque down the 6mm nut, right? I cannot find a way to tighten the 6mm with the brackets in place.
