After installation the Moto Pegs seems to be very loose in terms of the spring retention. Not sure if this is the design or intend from Lone Rider.

Hi bro, I’m from Thailand I just bought moto peg and was installing while I watching your youtube. In the box you will be given 2 set of spring 1 soft and 1 hard, so I just pick it up the hard one ( small ) caz I thought the diameter of the spring is almost the same size of the rod that connect or go through the foot peg. It made the foot peg pivot system hard but not gonna loose like yours. Let’s try the small spring bro. by the way, I still feel loosing on the peg also but not too much, the original foot peg that come with the bike is stronger I think. Now I’m using the medium ( orange ) plastic on brake control and using the soft ( green ) plastic on the gear shift ….I will test it tonight and let you know my formula that would work or not. Thanks for your experience. Siam

BMW's 719 optional foot pegs are a way better option featuring rubber grip on road and spring loaded spike grip when needed when going offroad. Plus the spring tension is a lot stronger than lone riders to keep from kicking back so easily

I have those pegs. The problem with those pegs is they are too small for off-road work. I think the design is spot on, but when you are off-road, you need a wider platform. I put 12,000 miles on those pegs before switching to the Moto Pegs. I think the Lone Rider Moto Pegs need a spring that is 2x to 3x stronger.

Mann , the small spring is work well , not too loose but I try the soft ( green ) plastic pin mannn much better than the medium ( orange ) plastic pin so my foot can move like a pivot link. This is my formula bro.

Thank you for this video. I am looking to buy these pegs for my 1250gs. Did putting in the BMW 2 spring get the tension you were hoping for? Would you recommend others to get these in the current design? Thanks again!

I like them. I am coming from the 719 BMW ADV pegs which had a flawless design but it was too small. The Lone Rider pegs are much wider and more confident.

@@CarlosThomas How is the tension though? Is this going to be a problem while shifting. Thank you for your responses, and this video.

@@OneTakeSunday With the Type 2 springs, it is not an issue. I might seek another stiffer spring in the future.

Yes, I am trying to install these on my 2020 R1250GSA as well. both sets of springs are impossible to insert. small or large. The stock peg has a fixed bushing that helps align and contains the spring and so should these. The spring housing on the Lone Ryder pegs are a lot narrower than the mount allowing the peg to flop around and wobble. It will need to find slim washers to fill this gap as in time it will wear the pin out prematurely. They need to have a snug fit like the stock ones. No, my bike has not been crashed and the mounts bent up. I would like to know how to get the spring in place with either set, large or small in the first place. I could not get this done. If both tag ends were the same length, then channel lock pilers would work to compress the spring momentarily to get them in place. The instructions give no help on this. I just put the stock one back on and am considering returning these at this time.

My advice to Lone Rider is to put together a installation video for the BMW GS to show a proper install.

I realized one of my problems this morning. The first side I attempted to install was the left side, I did not look at the right side. My left side factory pegs spring was not installed with the long end of the spring in the hole of the back plate but flat against it. So basically, a U shape. So, I was attempting to install the new spring the same way the original one was installed. This is impossible. The springs that came with the new pegs were not as strong as the original spring, so I used the factory one. On the right side the large coil spring will not fit as the space is too narrow for it, so I had to use the small coil on the right side. The tolerances of the mounts holes for the pin are too large so they wobble, and the overall width of the mount is also narrower than the factory mount also allowing excess movement. I am sure they do this to allow installation on several bikes. Over a short time, this excess and catawampus movement will wear out the parts prematurely in my opinion. In the end I have to give these pegs a 2 out of 5 score.

It's too loose. Use the springs that come with it, the ones labeled FP-BMW-T1-S1. There are left and right, this should stiffen them up 👍

Those springs that are in there are the ones that came with the kit. There was a BMW 1 and BMW 2 set of springs. I used BMW 1 based on what the instructions said.

@@CarlosThomas Let me check a few things and I will get back to you with a solution. I'm Andrew, I designed and manufacture these pegs.

Hello Andrew, I swapped out the S1 for the S2, which offered more resistance.

Agreed, I used Type 2 springs to get more resistance.

They just need stiffer springs. I would estimate 2x stiffer over the stiffest spring in their kit. When the bike falls over and if the pegs are impacted, the sheer weight of the bike is going to move the stiffness of springs. I am in search of Stiffer Springs to make the install better.
