Just fantastic Ian. Not only do you pictures look better and better but your video capabilities are looking amazing as well. I’ve learned a ton from you. Keep up the great work!!
Hi everyone, I hope you enjoy the vlog, just in the process of pre - ordering the x-t3 exciting times. let me know in the comments which is your favourite image. It would be great to chat :)
the xt2 is really a beast of a camera! fuji makes great stuff love this long exposure photography thanks for sharing this with us really enjoyed watching this gorgeous stuff!
Exceptional film production Ian, and some super images too. You've inspired me to get back out and do some landscape photography again, it's been a while.
Thanks, Tanja, Really glad you like it and I appreciate your comments. I was quite pleased with those shots too. A stunning location. Are you from the uk?
You're welcome Ian. Yes, I really do like it, and yes you can be pleased with those shots :). Looks like a very nice location indeed. I'm not located in the uk... yet ;), but thinking about it. I work there often and I have friends and family over there. I'm from germany.
Excellent photography Ian. Your first long exposure being my favourite. Very informative vlog, full of content and good to see how you are linking your website. That’s a good idea to include blogs which describe the locations. I may have to pinch that idea for mine 😬 I struggle with time with the vlogging/editing/updating website/family life but I’m getting there. Great to see how your channel has built up since we first chatted last year and long may it grow even bigger. Nice work Ian 👍👍
Thanks James, Really appreciate that mate. Yeah, I hope the blog will provide some value and help people discover some more info about the locations. Selling a few prints might also help cover my fuel costs :) Although living in Northamptonshire is central there is bugger all to shoot really, my nearest place is a good 2 hours drive. It's the reason i cant do weekly landscape vlogs. Trying to find the balance between the channel and family life can be hard especially when work become busy too. Thanks again James and feel free to pinch the idea i'm sure i wasn't the first :)
The first waterfall shot for me Ian, so so sharp and detailed loved it, great vlog and just to echo all the other comments great cinematography and b roll filming. Looking forward to your next one.
Yes! Love the cinematic approach you've used, looks fantastic. All the images were brilliant as well, nice one Ian! Wow, the XT-3 is going to be exciting too :) Sam.
Thanks Barry, glad you liked it mate, the light in the first shot was incredible, bright enough to light the rocks but defused enough to not blow the highlights. Happy days :)
Ha Ha, yeah just pre ordered the xt3 today. I am so pleased it's in the same body. just makes the transition a bit easier. The specs look incredible. I really hope the auto focus will be reliable enough for video work. :)
Superb shot of the waterfall into the sea, my fav. But the image further up the river in part two is superb. Really enjoyed Ian. As always, professional and well presented. Look forward to the next.
Thanks Mali, appreciate your time mate. It was a very rewarding trip, although it didn't start off too well weather wise. great location if you want to get away from the summer crowds. cheers bud :)
Fabulous vlog and your b roll is some of the best around. Two cracking images from Tresaith, a nervy moment for sure - have been in a similar situation and we have to realise how quick our tides comes in. The river image on the Tie Vee (Teifi) was a corker, the water must have been very low for you not to bother - that is a fabulous location normally. Your photo bag - its not the one in the video and indicated in the list is it - looks different? Look forward to watching part 2 of this trip. PS Been thinking it who it is you remind me of... the England Footie Manager maybe ;)
Thanks Alan, glad you enjoyed it mate, Yes the water was low and didn't really work for the mill house shot. I did get a shot looking upstream from nearer the bridge which will be in next weeks vlog and edit. The bag is the one that is linked in the description amzn.to/2ABqmDP I got it for my drone initially but it works great as a camera bag too. Really cheap as well. Had it for about 2 and a half years now and its still going strong. Ha Ha, yes, i get the Gareth southgate thing a fair bit especially during the world cup. Maybe i should get a blue waistcoat for the vlogs lol
Ian that was fantastic. Have just got myself an X-T2 previously a Canon user and loved all my Canon gear I still have it the thing is I love long exposure but cannot work out how to set the camera up for minuets long exposures on the X-T2 can you help please..............Barry
Hi Barry, Select T on the top dial, you can then use the front or rear dial to adjust your shutter speed. You can also use bulb (B) mode and a cable release, the xt2 has a built in timer too which really helps. All the best 👍👍😃
Hey Niko, Thanks mate. I have a bit of a mish-mash of filters, but it seems to work well. I use the hoya pro circular polarizer and Cokin nuances 10 stop and nd grads. I also use hoya pro variable nd's to for video work to keep the shutter speed correct. Thanks again :)
Thanks for replying Ian. You truly are dedicated. I played around with the Cokin system a number of years ago but it started to grind me down... now, after a long while of no-filter photography I think I need to revisit and see if they're as annoying on the Fuji as they were on the Canon. I think I even have a CP in Cokin somewhere. Looks like a cog of sorts. Thanks for inspiring me to blow the dust off them ;)
Hi Ian, appreciate your videos. Love the seascape shot! Living in Ireland and the weather you risk your life at times...ha! Having an XT3 and a polariser, its hard for me to see the effect on the screen (really hard!). I see from the lake shot it looked really clear for you. Did you lock exposure?
When choosing a very specific long shutter speed, do I need to use a shutter release cable with an intervalometer timer? Seems like I can't select right shutter speed in "T" mode.
Also wanted to ask what your opinion is of the new 8-16 f2.8 that Fuji has coming out soon? I was thinking it would be good as a combo lens for landscape and astrophotography.
Thanks, mate, yeah the slow-mo parts are mostly recorded at 120p you can find that in the video settings under high-speed recording I think its called. You have lots of options i mainly shoot at 24 frames per second so I choose 24p - 120p it basically converts it to a slow-mo file for you without the need to do any post-processing on it. I haven't really looked at the 8-16 f2.8 yet. No doubt it will be a great lens though
excellent cinematography as always, btw what software are you using for your videos,,,,, anyway lovely work as always and for sure great pics, thank you from Colorado!
Your comments about getting outside and the benefits to wellbeing you get from landscape photography are spot on. It’s the reason I love landscape photography, you wouldn’t otherwise make the effort and see dramatic sunrises and sunsets that other people miss. Really enjoy your vlogs. Appreciate you loooking at my gallery on Instagram and giving me some critique if you have the time - @julesgpt. Thanks
Thank Julian, Too true buddy it's what its all about, getting out and enjoying this awesome planet. If you use the #ianworth on your photos I will take a look. ATB
I'm a bit late to the party with this one but does anyone know how long an exposure you can do before you get any noise in the day time with the XT-2. Just a rough idea will do
depends if you are shooting into or away from the light, typically you will see more visible noise if you are shooting a long exposure straight at the sun than you would if it was the other way around. So depends on the conditions i would say. 👍👍
