We had a great day fluke fishing on the Atlantic ocean on the south shore of long island. Had a lot of action despite some windy conditions. Needed a lot of lead to hold bottom. Check out some of my unique bait methods in this video.
Just wondering your opinion, do you think a abu Garcia 5500c3 with a power handle ? Do you think it would do the job for ocean fluke jigging ? I’m looking at a pen squall 15 too just anted your 2 cents
Mat, I am not that familiar with that reel unfortunately. However, my opinion is when you look at everything involved with fluke fishing, the reel is less important than the rod, the line and the bait. Thanks for watching.
I have always used a teaser hook in the past. Yes I would catch more shorts. I find that a single jig though catches more large fish. On the kayak, I fish two rods at a time and tested this for an entire season. One rod with the teaser and one without.
@@FishFinder hey i have had 4 fish over 8 including a 11.5 on a jig rig with teaser. 7/0 hook with gulp up top and a jig on bottom. Deadly. This is just this season.
Saltlife_1985 oh yeah a teaser absolutely works and over the years have fished more with a teaser than without. I just happened to catch larger fish with8ut it lately. Also in that video I am over a reef with a lot of snags. So removing the teaser helps to keep from getting broken off too often
@@FishFinder So where are the bigger fish, didn't see any come aboard, do your self a favor and get a power handle for that Quantum, I have 4 that I let guest on my boat use, all have the power handle, 7 to 1 with that small handle sucks.
