thanks Mindy Tan for the idea, i.e. compression in street-scenes, have tried this technique before with my previous bodies, Canon 6D & Nikon D7000 i might get a long zoom or prime for this purpose, but don't have an extra full-frame or APSC camera for Tele shots, could try Fuji as I have never used it personally except demo units in shops currently I shoot with only 1 camera & 1 lens, Leica M10P *white* limited edition + 50 summilux for 3 years now been watching your videos for few years
My Si Fu point out the “compression” is due to the greater distance of your camera to the scenery. Nothing to do with telephoto lens. Very helpful understanding.
@@MindyTan Stand at the same far distance to subject. Take same shots with say a 35mm lens but crop to same framing later as you wanted to do with a telephoto lens. The compression effect is the same. All the telephone lens does is allow us to crop optically to the full frame film/sensor. Hope that make sense.
@@MindyTan Yes that is true. Many lesser teachers attribute the compression to the focal length of lens. However, it is actually due to our physical distance from the subject.
@@wolfganglui yes, a telephoto acts like a telescope for a fixed sensor size. Imagine your eye is the sensor, the extra pieces of magnifying glass help you to see better
