@James Martel could've gone both ways not robbery tho. Robbery when you clearly beat the fighter and they give it to the other fighter who clearly lost. This was close call.
Legend, my favourite fighter of all time “Sweet Pea”. Never got to see him live but his legacy lives on forever. Sad day for boxing when he passed but he was nothing short of greatness
Miss you, Thanks for all you and Coach Peet did for my son Carlos Perry he had a hard time dealing with your death but he up and off to the raises now , keep watching over him and Coach Peet Virginia loves you Detroit guys got much love and respect for you also, Long Live Sweet Pee
I got big respect for Oscar however pernell outclassed that lad every round of that fight and hands down defeated him that night!!! REST WELL CHAMP!!!😢😢
@@anthonytaylor7928 I feel like he’s not mentioned enough. I guess thats why I say I feel he was underrated. For me Pernell was one of the best to do it bro! Real Talk 💯
@@benjaminrodriguez4429 when is the hell is he supposed to be mentioned nobody mentioned Larry Holmes In the last year or so it doesn't make him underrated that kinda logic is ridiculous just because someone isn't mentioned
@@anthonytaylor7928 I just feel like he’s not mentioned enough and that’s a matter of opinion bro. Because when I think about it he really isn’t mentioned as much as he should be is all I’m saying. When it comes to the Greats he’s one of those I feel who is rarely mentioned & he’s definitely one of the best to ever do it!! Period!! I feel like his name doesn’t come up as much as it should!
@@benjaminrodriguez4429 Jesus Christ hes won titles in about four or five divisions he was ring magazines fighter of the year in 1989 that's not underrated dude every body can't be mentioned all at once doesn't mean their underrated hes also is considered one of the best defensive fighters of all time this logic of not being mentioned enough is just silly logic
This man was so great with his skills. He changed the rules of boxing. They started giving credit for being the aggressor even if you're getting beat on. Pernell was the prototype of Floyd. He destroyed Chavez and Delahoya But got robbed.
@@Aldine281if you honestly think Chavez win that fight you’re a casual. Not only did he get so embarrassingly trashed that not even his fans cheered for the draw. Everyone knows Chavez lost that night
Sweet Pea was such a slick fighter with his movement, ring generalship, and boxing IQ. I watched both the Chavez and De La Hoya fights and he was definitely robbed by politics. He made them both look bad. RIP Champ 🙏
I saw that fight. He beat the breaks off of Oscar but, he played around too much. He could’ve knocked Oscar out but, he couldn’t stop playing. He pretended to get wobbled in one round and lost the round because of it.
I was wondering if anyone would comment on how funny the thumbnail is. "Without getting hit" is quoted from a face with a half-closed right eye. Also, who has ever claimed to have "won" in boxing because of how they "performed"?
I saw that fight. I was a big big big Oscar fan at that time and did not give Parnell enough credit. After this fight, U watched Oscar fights just to see him lose. Pernel Outclassed him by a lot. Like he said, shut out!!! Watch this fight again on mute and score it. I could not give Oscar a round. I thought this at the time too. He beat Chavez too.
My brother and I say that all the time about the Lara Canelo fight. Clearly a robbery. Lara beat him to the spots and punches. Lara clearly lead the fight and made the fight.
