A long CSX 524 is northbound in Athens, Alabama. The defect detector gave the axle count as 776.
The piles of scrap tie plates, spikes, etc. this side of the train (and the rail piled on the other side) is evidence of the extensive maintenance underway on the CSX S&NA North. For weeks there have been maintenance curfews most days where no trains are running part of the day.

The locomotives are CSX 5275 up front, and mid-train CSX 7228. 7228 was built from CSX 274.
