Nice. I've just finished two Perry armies for War of the Roses for use with the Billhooks rules. However, your channel is now 'convincing' me to additionally paint up some HYW Perry's plastics next. I would dearly like to game the earlier period Scottish Wars, perhaps using Antediluvian Minis figures as these are fantastic sculpts, but metal is unfortunately getting far too expensive these days so, HYW it will have to be. 😊

Thank you dear Terry glad I am ''convincing'' you to paint some HYW armies. An amazing period in my opinion with some great characters to lead your armies. Love the Scottish wars period and Antediluvian Minis are really great some of them look very similar to Claymore castings that are my favorite minis which I am using for my Early HYW armies but if you are planning to go for the Later part the High period as some call it of the HYW early 15th century Perry are the best. Thank you for watching my friend!

Very nice! I don't know if you have any for comparison, but how do the pikes/long spears of these models compare in size to those from the Perry's European mercenary set? I'm wondering about getting some of these and using them to add some more variety to a pike unit
@MedievalWargamer
@MedievalWargamer 6 месяцев назад
Thank you my friend glad you enjoyed the video! Good idea!I don’t have the mercenary set to compare but what I can do is measure the size of these spears and when your minis arrive with the pikes you can compare and decide if they fit or not.

@@MedievalWargamer that'd be great, thanks! I've already got the Mercenaries so I could just measure their pikes to compare to what you find

I've bought the Perry box of Agincourt infantry and I'm watching these showcases now to get inspiration on how to paint them. I want them to be more or less historically authentic; do you think I should create a unit made of spearmen alone and another with different weapons, or should they be all mixed up together? I have to say they look a lot better when it's a phalanx of just spearmen.
@MedievalWargamer
@MedievalWargamer 8 месяцев назад
Thank you Johnny glad the showcases were inspiring and helpful!well it all depends on what rules you are using..but there where no spearmen or any distinctive units in the later part of the HYW except obviously missile troops and French Pavisiers..yes in the early part you had welsh spearmen for example but at the end you had professional men at arms who used any type of weapon they could find or given..but it’s all up to personal taste for sure spearmen look great all deployed in mass..and as I mentioned before the rules you are going to use..thank you for watching my friend!

@@MedievalWargamer Perhaps I'll put them all on individual bases, then I can always switch things around. Thank you very much for the reply. And merry Christmas :)

@Johnny-Thunder yes this is a very good idea gives you flexibility and variety using movement trays and every time choosing a different way of deploying..Merry Christmas to you too my friend!
