In April 2018 a group of independent volunteers decided that they could no longer see one of Nottingham's old walkways being left to rot, so they decided to clear it up. Facebook: Notts History - Honour Our Heritage.
love this and came across this due to a recent article on nottm live/post. I hate to say it but access to the other side of the bricked up area is accessible from a 'nearly' covered up grate on private property not to far away, with the help of a triple extender ladder and some original steps and a bit of crawling (due to the amount of rubble unfortunately piled down the steps). I must admit, I didn't go to far due to the darkness but it is untouched and fascinating. Its such a shame places like this are not allowed to be viewed by the public. Also the absolutely huge labyrinth of caves that start at Peel street (from behind the thick metal door to which ncc have the key). Its all down to the caves going under so many different owners land:( I actually have lots of pictures of this network of caves but they were taken back in around 2012 off a camera phone so not the best quality. But those that are aware will know what im on about, I always remember the two levels crossing paths with a hole in the middle. I guess this was caused by two tunnels passing over one another when they were being dug, unknown to each other.
No, they are City Council owned and locked behind a gate due to their danger. Janine Tanner of the Notts History-Honour Our Heritage Facebook page is the caretaker. Have a word with her if you want to go down.
