So Finn took the reins and did most of the camera work on this episode, as I’m wanting to get more of the interactions between me and Keith in our videos, and that’s hard to do while I’m holding the camera! Hope you enjoy it, but don't worry, we'll get better! Thank so much for coming back each Thursday, and we look forward to seeing you next week! ~Renee💕

OMG... guys you need to start using the "True Earth" laundry soap. It's amazing. I'm not a seller here, don't take me wrong. They come in paper sheets, you can buy the whole year amount that you'll need, and it doesn't take space at all. The best is that is amazing, I use 1 sheet for a big load. Everything is super clean and smells amazing. Again, I'm just a consumer of this laundry soap. By the way, I think they sponsor some Vanlifers. ;-)

Yes, I agree. They will have such amazing memories of all the interesting places and people they’ve met all over the world that will last a lifetime. Right now, I’m sure Kate would love to be hanging out with other girls ( maybe boys if Keith could behave himself ). But those times I had when I was her age don’t really mean much to me now. Those people have been out of my life for years and those memories don’t compare to the things and places she is experiencing now.

Finn you did a great job as cameraman! I really liked this episode. Renee you and Keith look so relaxed...hard to believe it's been 6 years Kate and Finn looked sooooo little in that little clip from the Zatara archives. And Renee I found that you were a little more chattier than usual probably because the camera wasn't in your hand so it felt more like a conversation than actually recording content because for the most part you hang onto the camera when you talk to us. I think You should do these more.often and take advantage of one of the 3 kids to be cameraman... 😀

Hot tip for pests on the boat . Mix corn meal with baking soda ! Keep it dry so not to ruin the baking soda effects. Anything that eats it will bloat on the boat and die !

I loved the African interview and these types of videos when we get insight to your personal thoughts. I've been watching the Z crew for a long time and greatly respect how you're raising your family. Honestly in the beginning I watched off and on, as I was at times bothered by some views, opinions, or attitudes, and picked up Keith's impatience. I tried ignoring them as I know everyone is on their own path of a life of learning, growing, and evolving as humans...including me at 62. Most people are a product of mainly their upbringing, home neighborhood environment, and whatever US media news/politics they follow and people naturally grow and evolve when we bust out of that small bubble...I personally experienced this through various ways. It's sad and scary how many people in America are now extremely strong in their opinions but can't see that their small bubble world and that the news & social media manipulation causes them to have limited views that are harmful and so divisive...and which politicians count on. Imho, we shouldn't allow ourselves to be forced into living in an angry right/left America. Basically most people all over the world are good people that simply want to live in peace with a decent means to raise their families. Anyhow, I'm glad I came back and now never miss a video since you left Australia. You're the same good people who left Texas but it's been a joy watching you personally grow and evolve through your travels especially when visiting the Maldives and southern Africa...and I've learn and grew along with you seeing some of these places that I'll never visit. There is no doubt that giving your children the opportunity to see the world is the best gift and education that you can give them...there is nothing selfish or wrong about it as I'm sure they will grow into being kind, compassionate, and intelligent adults with invaluable knowledge of the world that you'll be proud of. There are reports stating that there are much higher rates these days of teenage depression, anxiety, isolation, and very limited family time in affluent suburbs. Plus you may have worries that you would not have on living on boat (drugs, gangs, gun violence, peer pressure & bad influences, bullying, being sheep, pregnancies, narrow views and perspectives, and even loneliness). Please feel free to continue to share your opinions and perspectives based on what you've learned from your travels as it's an educational service greatly appreciated. The long-term effects of Sailing Zatara has been good thing for all us and I can't wait to see your upcoming Egyptian adventures! Stay brave Whitaker family and wishing all of you many more blessings! Marie - USA 💙🙏

Every major live change has it's challenges...going from city life to living in the country. And going from land to the cruising life. I know about the "boys are alright but girls need friends" part of growing up. There are 5 of us kids, with 7 years between oldest and youngest. Us 3 boys were first and though we had lots of friends we could always find stuff to do with one or both of the brothers. But my 2 sisters always needed more then just themselves. Commitment. That's what living full time on a boat requires. As parents, Renee and Keith, needed the commitment to spend whatever time you guys wanted cruising the world. And your kids picked up on that commitment. I remember videos where Anne was "in charge" like at the helm or other "boaty thing" and she REALLY knows her stuff! But she needed more. And that's perfectly fine. It's obvious you 2 raised your kids with that "nothing is impossible" and "live your life like you own it" attitudes. Others might want the same thing when they get older. I think Jack might end up retiring on Zatara 😁😁😁 Kate may probably want to do the "college thing" like her sister. Finn....well Finn might transform into some mythical demi-god and Lord only knows what could happen then😂 As long as all of you guys are enjoying your present life....live it as you want and please keep sharing it with the world!!!

As always, wonderful to see you "on the water" as Keith closed out today. When I was Finn's age, I was a quarter of an expat-family. We lived outside of the US for years. It was a blessing. It also shaped my outlook on the USA, politics, and interpersonal relationships. Now at 60, I can look back at my career and say that being an expat kid made me a very good corporate citizen and one who is aware of nuances that others often overlook. I hope and pray that your kids experience a similar path on their journeys through life. As always, thank you for not posting to OnlyFans (LOL), and sharing yourselves with us.

Keith, I'm raising 2 teenagers. From what I can tell with all of their friends, what is "normal" these days is for the parents to constantly struggle to try and get their kids off of electronics. These kids are scared of anything outside their bedroom and their screen, And have no idea on how to handle risk and new experiences. I don't see that happening with your kids. They are growing up "normally" as I did in the seventies and eighties and you probably did too.

I am a father of 5 and I understand the internal questions a parent has when they are raising their kid. You'll have those questions no matter what. I think giving them the unique experiences you are giving them is far better than a safe, standard childhood that you can pat yourself on the back when the standard path has them coming out the other side feeling "normal". you took a risk and they are still great kids - happy, smart, healthy ... and well travelled! You and Keith are the reason they are so solid. You guys remind me of me and my wife. Awesome parents raise awesome kids...whether thats on land or at sea. Cheers you guys! Keep it up!

I reckon you guys give the best content in your videos than anyone, your tips are realistic and you are always honest with us viewers. I was really pleased you came from behind the lens for a change as you look like you want to give Keith a slap around the ears sometime. Keith is amazing, a great dad and hubby and I like how he keeps up with his maintenance. I have to wonder if the last 6 years would have been so comfortable if you weren’t as financial as you seem to be. I watch other channels which work on a shoe string budget and eat crappy food which they incorporate into their lifestyle change, you guys fill a couple of trolleys with groceries and eat fast food as treats, much more realistic. I hope you guys sail a lot longer yet and I think that only the chicks leaving the nest will be the decider. Are you good parents, yes I reckon so, great parents in fact and I feel your kids are making memories everyday. Love you guys

You guys are doing a great job, it's college that's been the challenge for us. My daughter is having a hard time making friends that don't try to bring up alcohol at one time or another. And she's in percussion so it's still a GUY thing and it gets to her. She's a beautiful, petite young lady and so she's constantly having runins where she feels discriminated against or picked on. I've tried to takeher on trips to understand it's a big world out there. You guys are really showing your kids that it's a BIG world out there. It will help them put things in perspective.

You’ve definitely not deprived your children. They’re learning about different cultures. They’re living the life that I wish my grandchildren could have. Schools aren’t teaching kids like they used too. Schools are also more dangerous now, with all of the shootings. You’re giving your family the best life they could ever have.

Omg the child Kate and Finn clip at the beginning was so cute. I forgot they were THAT small when it all started. I can only speak for myself, because obviously I've only lived my own life and no one else's, but I would trade my childhood memories with my friends and school for memories of exploring the most beautiful parts of the most beautiful places all over the planet. I'd do it in a heartbeat. But that's me looking back as a 36 year old. If I had children and a spouse that was down for it I would do the exact same thing. And you guys have shown me the right way to do it too. You've raised great children and have been excellent role models.

I had a good chuckle over your Swahili attempts. I’m thankful you learned traveller’s patience before arriving in East Africa. I (S’s wife) grew up in Kenya, holidayed frequently at the coast, swimming and snorkelling in the Indian Ocean. Zanzibar was a fav trip my senior year (with an epic jellyfish fight off of prison island & 30 yr anniversary fireworks from the white-washed hoteli roof)! I hope ya’ll did a spice tour. Thanks for bringing back some amazing memories - I sure miss Kenya’s coast! Hi from Van Isle (west of Desolation Sound)

It’s amazing how much the kids have grown! It doesn’t seem that long ago I started watching your channel. We leave later this week on our adventure to the San Juan islands and Southeast Alaska for the next 8 or 9 weeks. Looking forward to being at sea for a while. See you all in your next video. Enjoy and God bless.
