Long COVID-19 has affected and continues to affect millions of people. What about persistent symptoms or new gastrointestinal illnesses after COVID-19 infection though? New evidence suggests that there is an increased risk of the development of a new gastrointestinal disease or persistent gastrointestinal symptoms after COVID-19 recovery.
They looked at acid reflux, GERD, peptic ulcer disease, dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, pancreatitis, gastritis, cholangitis and also persistent abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, bloating, and constipation. They found that previous COVID-19 infection increased the risk for these conditions and symptoms proportional to the severity of the original infection.

The most mentioned ones are Lyme disease (borreliosis) and mononucleosis (Epstein-Barr virus). One of the few bright spots of light in this pandemic is the possibility of figuring out why these pathogens keep on hurting their victims.

I'm STILL dealing with constant severe GI symptoms from first infection which I KNOW was Jan 2018 and literally thought I was going to die but refused to go to a hospital. I continue to lose weight and GP is becoming concerned and tells me to step up what I'm eating 🙄 IF I could, I would😬 5' 2" started at 128 lbs now down to 108. All vital organs are affected and the pain is atrocious. 😔

During original surgery 8" of colon removed due to tumor being attached to it but no cancer in colon. 9 days post original surgery, colon came apart and I went septic and saw the white light. Emergency surgery resulting in colonoscopy. 1 week after that surgery laparoscopic holes became infected while still in hospital. Originally was only supposed to be in hospital 5-7 days. Ended up being there 26 days. Was released with infection and no antibiotics sent home even tho I had been on IV antibiotics from time of infection until one hour from being released. Took 5 months to clear staph A infection. Checked for c diff after tons of antibiotics. Was negative.

My 96 yr old Mother suffers from this, and recently saw a GI Specialist who suggested she might have GI Long Covid. She will be having an CT Scan of the abdomen and a Gastric Emptying Study for further diagnosis. Following a Gastroparesis diet has been helpful, but hoping for a better way to treat this

Couldn't breath and extreme tiredness. Slowly going away. Still can't drink coffee and take pain meds for previous issues. Went through long COVID clinic in Canada. Any body else go thru this?

Thanks for the vid on this too! Adding personal experience FWIIW: mild acute C19 all but cough and slight fatigue resolved w/in 10 days. Then post nasal drip caused coughing at night awakening asthma that had been domant decades which peaked ~5.5wks post infection, resolved entirely by 10 wks post infection. Thought PASC was over after that. Now not so sure... My husband had C19 infection at same time as me but no asthma post (no history of asthma for him). About 7 or 8 wks ago (9.5 mos post infection) both of us started to have odd gastrointestinal symptoms that were the same as each other, and extremely unusual for me. Not pathological exactly. Possible TMI: Just mainly that bowels seem to be moving slower than usual, so am getting gas that smells (yes, for the past couple of decades my gas doesn't usually smell if I have any at all). Things are still moving on and out just not as much, and not as cleanly, so it was building up in there somewhere expanding the waistline and gaining a bit of weight daily for a bit (luckily not having trouble leaving when close to exit). We thought maybe a stomach flu, as seems odd would both get same PASC gastrointestinal issues, but who knows--we did get exposed and infected at same time. I keep thinking it is getting better and then it doesn't.. but lately has been steadily getting better for longer, so perhaps it is like the asthma thing--just takes a bit to recover. Seems like this is lasting and resolving in about the same time period as the coughing. Whatever the case, seems like it is catching up with the backlog, not smelling as much, and hardly gassy, waistline coming back and weight heading back toward normal. So life is more comfortable indeed. ;) Looking forward to full recovery. Oh, and for those interested: we both had primary C19 vaccine and booster back when they came out, but no subsequent doses of bivalent, etc.

I and my wife used the Madagascar/Flccc protocol after covid jan '22. No problems afterwards. Recently my vaxxed wife got again corona and asthma attack so she got prednisone. Which helped both. As she was in hospital it was forbidden to use Flccc protocol. She needed longer recovery time .
@salsa564
@salsa564 Год назад
It sounds like you’re trying to prove that the FLCCC protocol works. There’s no empirical scientific evidence that shows that it does, especially with ivermectin, which has been proven to not work for COVID-19.
@Baard2000
@Baard2000 Год назад
@@salsa564 I've supplied many with it. Some on waiting list to be hospitalized due to severity of symptons beginning 2021. Each one about 12 hours after start protocol called that of.so their place could be taken by another covid patient needing it. Also treated 2 long covid patients who their gp told them after 3 months with these symptons : you have to live with headaches , fever attacks and extreme fatique. It Solved in 2 days low dose ivm. They struggeled for months with it. And no gp dared to do anything as off label treatment for covid/ long covid is fined with max 150k fine and license revoked. Yes , these are anekdotal. But results I saw were astonishing. I asked my own gp weather she dared to prescribe anything for covid. She declined as the fines are too high. But she would prescribe prednisone and coffee creamer topical applied in case of foot cancer if her medical experience indicated that might work. That tells it all. In her own words : I am allowed to prescribe anyhthing if my experience as gp indicates it might work for ANY disease. Except covid.

Lots of GI stuff-ab pain, diarrhea, and lots of GERD. I usually would have GI stuff with every infection. I had a horrible bout spring 2020 with a ton of GI stuff, and when re-infected I get a reoccurrence of these kinds of things just about every time. My stuff smells like burnt popcorn-science should take my body when I pass because I can't donate my organs anymore lol. I have occasional bouts that come with excessive phlegm. My last infection from March has gifted me with excessive phlegm. I had the same problem with other bouts and my first bout gave it to me for months, and used to smell like trash. Awful stuff. So weird. thankfully I am feeling a lot better and only have occasional long covid issues that are mild. I have been running 4 miles a few times a week lately and hope to do longer races soon. My labs never show anything weird. I have an allergy to gluten and I do eat gluten, so I am not surprised about my GI being attacked.

Did the study distinguish people pre-and post-Omicron, or did they even include people after Omicron? With the effect of Omicron causing less severe disease, I would think that in itself would make a difference. These studies often are referring to the virus pre-Omicron, which is not very reflective of what is happening now.

Couldn’t agree more. One of the big challenges with all of these studies is that the variants seem to outpace the ability to study/publish data
