We are WhiteBoard Medicine. We are a group focused on medical education for all levels of learners and medical professionals. We create free medical education videos on a wide range of topics. Our goal is to create spaces where those interested in learning more about medical topics, whether it be students, physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetist, the interested general public, and more, can come together and find easy-to-understand videos, note outlines, practice questions, and discussion forums to continue working towards mastering these topics! 11:46 Did you misspeak here when you said prolonged *expiratory* times cause breath-stacking or am I missing something? Nonetheless, fantastic video with plenty good info! Sincerely, a Respiratory Therapist that is trying to brush up on Intrinsic PEEP again 😄
There was vaccine trial for H5N1 Influenza in 2007. Why the dragging of feet developing one? Because of small number of cases? www.nih.gov/news-events/news-releases/niaid-dna-vaccine-h5n1-avian-influenza-enters-human-trial
H5N1 is knocking at our door, in wild mammals, mammals exposed to birds, and anyone who has done their history of 1917-1919 Influenza pandemic can see the obvious trajectory here. Let's try to scramble 100 million doses of vaccine and get a vaccination campaign going. H5N1 has enough virulance to really clober us, possibly worse that COVID.
Thanks for checking out the video and for commenting! We appreciate the kind words. We will absolutely add CHF and cardiomyopathies to the topic list and work to get a video out on it in the coming weeks!
My questions are, why hasn’t any physician named the exchange segment between the O2 capillaries & the CO2 venules? Or have they? The value at that point in circulation could be another good indication of how O2 is effectively being used. And 2nd question w Carbon Monoxide Poisoning are they Right Shifted ergo, CO2 poisoning makes mucus membranes Ultra Red because Cells are holding on to hemoglobin & they’re saturated & can’t release it? Maybe I’m confused. 🤔 😊
Great questions across the board! Both the O2 and CO2 exchange happens in the capillary. The capillary is fed by the arterioles (oxygenated blood) and are drained by the venues (deoxygenated and CO2 rich blood) if that makes sense! As for the second question, interestingly that cherry red blood sometimes quoted with carbon monoxide poisoning is from the hemoglobin molecules being saturated with CO! We are considering putting out a video on carbon monoxide poisoning in the future!

Interesting stuff. Wanna bet? After their tongue 👅 biopsies, their Sweet taste sensation made them averse to eating anything at all… including sweet, salt, sour or bitter. Punch a hole in my tongue & I sure don’t want sweets either.🤨
Hi! I have the video paused at 5:25 time point for an example. Your DO2 formula shown is DO2 = CO + CaO2 but this is an error, it should be DO2 = CO X CaO2. Good job explaining the material none the less!
We appreciate you checking out the video and for keeping us honest! We should have been more targeted with our equations for sake of clarity as our focus was more rooted in relations and proportionality as related to shock states. Thanks again for the edit and contribution! If interested, we have a video on the dense math behind oxygen delivery, oxygen content, and etc where we do focus on the math and equations in detail linked below! Spent my whole life on 2 pints of fullfat cows milk a day, after covid im lactose intolerant and cant handle too much glutton either, still wipes me out for 2-3 days if even a morsel of dairy gets into my diet two and half years later.
Very nice, but I found clinically this was always confusing to students. I taught them that all the eye see's on exam is a systolic collapse of the jugular venous pulse. You CANNOT see the c wave. Ever, not never, in the normal jugular pulse. The descent of the base, which causes the right atrial pressure collapse, ends at the end of the systole, marked by S2. Clinically, the jugular venous pulse falls onto S2. That's all the eye can perceive. If palpating the radial pulse, the X descent will be simultaneous. If palpating the carotid , say ' C- down ' and that covers the X descent. Clinically, the other abnormalities are discerned by TIMING what you see with the S2. Cheers! Fond memories of the CoVid-19 wars, comrade!

A few questions:- The the US. 1) Is reporting of this disease in cattle mandated? 2) Is this a state or federal requirement? 3) If this virus is detected, are the cattle isolated or culled? 4) Is compensation available to the owners of these cattle? 5) Are there penalties if the owners do not comply with the regulations? 6) Can inspectors visit the farms and take samples, even if the owners object? If the answer to any of these question is no, we have a problem.
Why are cattle in the USA getting bird flu, but we are not getting infected cattle in Canada? Is it because you people feed your cattle chicken litter that contains chicken feces and other chicken parts and its banned in Canada?
Nobody wants to speak the truth. Cattle are being fed chicken litter and it contains chicken feces, chicken parts, feathers and other waste. As far as I can tell, its still being done. I'm not trying to alarm anybody, but I'm really tired of the truth being hidden and nothing being done about it.

Thanks for checking out the video and for asking. Typically iron deficiency anemia can occur when people have the slow loss of blood over weeks and weeks as the body starts to use up the iron stores to make new red blood cells. This then leads to an iron deficiency anemia. It’s not a hard and fast rule, but oftentimes people with slow bleeding over a prolonged period of time end up with iron deficiency anemia if that makes sense!
I had a D&C & Colposcopy on May 20 & 27. I had a thickened endometrium, a polyp, a fibroid & a ovarian cyst that comes & goes. My OBGYN removed the polyp when she did the D&C. I am in perimenopause & haven't had a period since Nov. I am having bleeding today for the first time and it is very painful. Is this normal? The pain is terrible!!!
Thanks for checking out the video and for commenting! We use IBW (ideal body weight) as that is the terminology used at our center. With that being said, PBW (predicted body weight) is perfectly reasonable verbiage to use as well. For all intents and purposes, these two terms are used interchangeably in this context and simply base “weight” off the patient’s height. Hope that helps!
Put gloves on when you go shopping ,germs are on doors handles, and carts ,be careful what you touch .stays on the surface I think two weeks. made in the USA at the labs . isn’t life beautiful
