Regarding playing Spotify from phone... you showed that you have onscreen options for skip, repeat etc. But say I'm driving along and I think "I'm sick of this playlist, I want to change to a different playlist", obviously I don't wanna pick up my phone and do it through that. Do you have full Spotify options to access different playlists etc or is it literally just play/pause/skip/repeat? Also can all of this be done through bluetooth or does it need to be connected by cable? My last question is maybe a bit silly, but I've never had a screen like this in my car before. The options for google maps/satnav. Is this something that is done through an app on your phone also, or is this a feature that's built in to the Road Angel? Does it use the wifi from your phone? Thanks so much for the info.
Hi bud, thanks for watching. So this unit requires your phone to be connected via cable. The Google maps is technically running from my phone as part of android auto, so is Spotify. If you have an iPhone it will use carplay instead but deliver the same functionality. You can search through Spotify playlists, my screen was just showing the current track but its possible to even search by voice for different songs.
Hi man sorry to ask again, you probably already answered this but I didn't understand fully. You said this model has to be connected with a cable. For what exactly? Are you saying it doesn't play spotify from my phone via bluetooth the way my original car stereo does? At the moment I get into my car and the stereo automatically starts playing music from spotify on my phone. I don't have to touch anything on either my phone or my car stereo, it just happens. Will that no longer be the case then?
No problem bud, if you're only connecting via Bluetooth than it will work as you mentioned without needing a cable. But in order to have the Spotify app running on the stereo, that requires the USB to be connected to your phone. The reason for this is because the unit is actually running the Spotify app (and other apps) through your mobile phone. Same with Google maps, it doesn't live on the head unit. It runs from your phone when connected via USB. Hope that helps, using plain old Bluetooth will function just the way it does in your existing car. But to run Android auto or apple carplay (which allow the use of apps) you need to connect via the cable on this unit.
Hi, great video. I am thinking of installing this into my Golf MK5 2007. I have read online about needing to buy a canbus adapter else it will cause battery drain. Have you experienced this at all?
Thanks bud, I've not had this issue although my car is too old to have canbus. I can't see why it would drain the battery anymore than your standard stereo because it uses the same plugs
Does this unit have subwoofer settings including the hpf and lpf settings as I will be running a subwoofer with it. Also can you watch RU-vid videos and Netflix on the screen using Apple play or anything like that?
I installed the RAX621BT and I noticed that it really never turns off when I long press the power button. The light deems and with a bit of effort I can see the time on screen. If I don’t use the car for 24h, the radio turns on by itself and drains the battery. Is it common?
That sounds like a problem with your wiring. The radio shouldn't be able to turn on when the car is off. There is an ignition wire that tells the stereo when the key has been turned and the car is switched on. So the fact it's coming on by itself to me points to an issue with the wiring.
@@CRD90 I agree and wouldn't rule out the issue with the wiring. However, with the more standard radio that came with the car that I had before, I didn't need the key in the ignition to turn it on. It's a vw passat b6. I will go through the wiring again to see if anything is odd. Thanks bud
Bluetooth works just for audio streaming and phone calls. But if you want android auto or Apple carplay you will need to connect via a USB cable on this unit.
Mine just shit the bed yesterday, in car 3 months used for 2 months. Drive last night it crashed and rebooted 3 times stuck in a boot loop and now screen flicks on for half a sec and doesnt turn on
This has just happened to me today. Was driving and the screen went blank. I disconnect and reconnected but unfortunately had no luck getting it back on. The radio also asks me what language I want it in every time I turn it on which is another problem I don’t know how to fix. Seems like this stereo is just hassle.
@@lilkugo8937 its garbage, gave it benefit of the doubt when buying due to price and features. Ended up paying £180 extra through Halfords for a Kenwood DMX7722DABS. They told me to speak to Road angel about the faulty unit but they have 1 year warranty on all products so I had them exchange it under that.
