Shooting a traditional bow instinctively is a mental and mechanical process that can be easily mastered and enjoyed to the fullest especially with the right bow!
One thing i've noticed is that when shooting in the dark, you can't see your gap and aiming becomes virtually impossible, and shooting instinctive is the only way to make your shot.
JP I want to say thank you for letting your light shine. You have taught me a treasure of archery knowledge. Your light for Christ is my hunger. Don't know why but I learn to grow closer to my maker watching. Thank you
Don't ever stop making videos jeff....Your such an inspiration to me and others...Having God included to your channel is a Huge reason why I subscribe ❤️ 🙏Iv been going through my own battles with those voices in my head telling me to quit and give up..Not about archery but with my family and my wife and kids...Please keep me in your prayers because God is the only way 🙏Amen
My friend.. you still have a lot of time to compete. I believe you will win one someday. In my eyes, you're a champion already. Your content is top notch. Thanks for all your advice and knowledge. You have helped me shoot instinctively so much better.
@@tolt1776 oh man! You’re gonna love it and you’ll never find a more genuine man than Jonathan Adams! He’s very passionate about his bows and the Lord!
@instinctiveaddictionarcher8998 I have thoroughly enjoyed the conversations I've had with him. I'm not sure there is a more personable custom bow experience. I gave him complete freedom. I said I want a one and only, unique bow, that screams I'm a Maui built redneck with a mullet and I'm here to flick feathers and kill shit! We'll see how he does haha!
I started 11 years ago at age 59 with Longbow. I have tested different bows, and finally I found one that are smooth and good to use. Started with 30 Lbs in strength, and are now up to 45. I have tried to can't the bow, and for some reasons, I shoot better without canting. I did instinctive for 10 years, but changed to Gap shooting, and got better result, and some target panics disappeared completely. My first 10 years I shot mostly 11/32 Cedar arrows, with 125grain tips. I have also tapered Arrows, some in both ends, some in one end. Tried 4 feather Arrows, but went back to 3. Since I started with Gap shooting, I also started with 3 fingers under, and a Tab, on Bamboo Arrows. The lighter Bamboo Arrows the better, and I go for 80grain tips. But I have to work on my shoot cycle more to get to the top on 3D competition. I shoot pretty well on the 3D courses in the Forrests, but at Competions its another story at times. But Im working on it, and not giving up. Thanks Jeff for so many excellent videos.
Thanks for keeping on going! If it makes you feel any better we didn’t look at your score one time all weekend, but Stormy and I was more than thrilled to talk to you before we both drove off. Mainly because we HIGHLY respect you because of your videos and the sharing of your faith. We learn a lot but it’s also nice to see someone not afraid to share the Gospel. Thanks for what you do, and it was great hanging out with you for a few minutes on Sunday.
Like to see a video of setting up a light bow for 3d like the 35 sanlida you just got. Lot of vids for building hunting arrows but not much for 3d/target setups.
If there's one thing i've learned over 40 years of deer hunting, we have to do all that we can to be successful, but ultimately its Gods will and not ours, and there's always a reason for our success and our failures whether we understand it or not. Keep up the great channel. God Bless!
You're the reason I got back into shooting traditional this year haven't had a bow in my hands sense 2010 its addiction i bought two blackhunter x8 longbow and hermit X10 you got me in the doghouse lol never give up jeff you help lots of people get back in the Bible and bows thanks
Crazy how are body's act under pressure, tournament, Hunting etc!!! We as Archer's should put our selves out of our comfort zone!!! Thanks Jeff great video 👍👍👍👍
Instinctive shooting a long bow is the most rewarding and fulfilling out of all archery methods , for me anyway. Thanks Mr. Jeff keep stacking'em.>>>‐‐-‐> Tim
I've learned a lot following you and improved my shooting process. Over time at matches I have discovered that sometimes that I, and others I've discovered, the harder you work at it sometimes it gets worse. Relaxing and remembering why I enjoy trad archery is the fun.
Jeff the one I notice when you shoot, the bow and bow arm does not move. The way you grip your bow is nothing I’ve ever seen taught by others, it has improved my shooting very much. Thanks for being such a great teacher and a humble man! Bob
Jeff I've put your techniques into use this last couple of weeks ive really been struggling with consistency and accuary I can shoot very accurate but not consistent some of it was me trying to develop my own style it was not consistent so thank you so much I am now putting them in the same hole switched to 3 under what a difference where I am in Scotland there's not many people to advise you so I really rely on your videos to give me the truth not waffle like a lot of people thank you from scotland you have a place to stay if you ever come over friend.
I've been working on pulling my elbow around so my hand comes through the string like you showed recently, what a difference that makes. It's actually created quite an issue with my tune that's taken a minute to figure out but I think I've got it down now. Appreciate your work and what you share.
Thank you! Thank you, for the under the cheek bone anchor. I've been shooting ok, but today I decided to try switching my anchor from corner of the mouth to higher under the cheek bone. Took a couple of shots to get my finger tips out of the way with a deeper hook. But after a dozen shots or so i'm sold. It's like shooting a rifle. Never going back. Get a little cant, get your head in there, and bang it goes right where its pointed. If you're a 20 yard shooter you need to try this high anchor.
I shoot split finger and keep getting advised to three fingers under and gap shoot, but I actually do better than the folks who advise me. I shoot off the shelf when using feathers and an elevated rest when using vanes. Very attractive bow you were using in this video, in addition to my Bear recurves I have a Bodnick Slick Stick. I watch one of your videos before I go out and shoot.
I like how you remind us about shot process, it can be one little thing not quite right messing up the shot.I will say Jeff what you shared just gave me the thought to imagine the devil sitting right in the spot that I want to hit, then give him as many good arrows as possible. Bless you brother, keep speaking of Jesus, love your honesty, and passion both for archery and for the Lord.
Yeah, competitions can truly mess up one's focus, especially once you get a massive attention... it's really hard to ignore the pressure... I guess practice makes the difference, need to get used to the crowd and all. It throws me off most of the time still lol
We have too become like the hooter shooter machine that mechanicly shoots the arrow exactly every time, if we shoot are stick bows the same by demanding performance, meaning we're going to make a perfect shot every time or we're drawing the bow back down and not releasing, we can never expect anything different or it will be a miss. Do push ups if necessary, demand performance or draw down. Just my two cents on Jeff's great explanation, amen 🙏
Don’t beat yourself up you had some bad shots . You recognized the error and make the correction, it happens. This is all part of the sport, keeps it interesting.
I don't shoot competition at all, so I don't know... but.... could a major mental motivation of "shooting for Self" when shooting competition, compared to "shooting for the Animals ethical kill" when hunting... could that be a major difference that screws with competition shooting? (I'm wondering if that could be problematic shooting comp.)
The good Lord, for what ever reason did not want you to take first place, I never question what God has planned for me, I just thank him for what he has given me, be it good or bad, the glory will be his, he has a plan for us all
Man, I really like your videos, I've even learned a lot of tips to improve my shooting, but I don't kill animals. I see you talk about God, but where is God, when you take a life?????
And your right, that monkey on are shoulder trying too whisper all the negatives, is lucifer himself, he wants us to fail, but when we turn to are beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and say Jesus give me strength and keep the evil bassa away Jesus takes charge and fuels with the fire to accomplish what we want, and he loves being thanked all day long for ate hard earned gifts, I think some days he climbs inside of us to be his best. Wich is perfection in us, thank you my king, Jesus
