In this video I am to quickly teach you a new opening. An opening that I have had a lot of success with. The 'Wimpey' Opening!
In this online game I pick a longer time limit, 15+10, my aim is to really explain the thought processes behind the moves that I am playing.
Ginger_GM vs Garmager
1. Nf3 d5 2. e3 Nf6 3. c4 e6 4. b3 c5 5. Bb2 Nc6 6. cxd5 exd5 7. Nc3 Be7 8. d4

I am a student of Simon's London System DVD. I have gone through the lectures several times. Anyhow, most recently, I took some notes on the best response to the Dutch. I played a 1600 (I am also a 1600) on Lichess. He opened with the Dutch. And because Simon prepped me, I checkmated him on move five. Simon, you are a legend and a magnificent bastard!

If you let your cat into the room, maybe you have less mouse slips. Give it a try. I hope it will help.

Welcome back Si and Charlie! The mouse slip was a pity. It's so annoying when it happens and I just did one today myself while playing Puzzle Rush. Nice looking game still and good explanations as always. Just would've liked to see this game played out properly till the end, as the position was quite interesting. You need to play more long play games. :-)

If I'm not mistaken, Simon did a video survey of this opening in the latest chessbase magazine. Another good resource for this (or at least similar) opening system is the book 'e3 poison' by Axel Smith.

The problem with 8.Ra1-c1 instead of 8.d2-d4 is B can now play 8..d5-d4 and W has 2 choices - 9.e3xd4 when W ends up with an ISO sitting on d2 or..9.Nc3 somewhere when B liquidates his ISO with 9..d4xe3 10.d2xe3

Thank you for this video, Simon! Really enjoyed the opening, and you answered my question about what you would do if your opponent plays d4 before you do. Where did you learn this opening? Would this be as effective if your opponent castles queenside? What is your preferred set-up against the King's Indian? Thanks again! Your year will get better!

I heard Alpha Zero prefers 1. Nf3. If not the best, its still top 3 or 4. That's enough for me to be interested. But I'm just a beginner looking for a new opening that doesn't start with e4.
@rodolfobelo2904
@rodolfobelo2904 5 лет назад
You can choose more aggressive lines, this is a very flexible opening. It starts with a more close position, witch allows early pawn storms, and even delay castling in some variations.
