Opponent: "Stop that!" Simp: "Stop that!" Opponent: "That's really annoying." Simp: "That's really annoying." Opponent: "Oh, I see how this is." Simp: "Oh, I see how this is." Opponent: "I'm bad at chess!" Simp: "That you certainly are. Mission accomplished."
I love how part of the video was literally Simp's opponent realizing Simp was mirroring them and trying to do something with it. Then when they checked Simp's king, they were probably thinking something like "Hah, you can't mirror that!" while Simp was thinking "Finally, I can't mirror that!"
@@david92759 from a complete beginner's point of view, putting someone in check seems like a copy-able move. It's reasonable for beginners to mistakenly think that remaining in check IS a legal move
The opponent thought he was so smart making these random moves and thinking Shrimp will copy each of them, until Shrimp decided to stop fooling around and beat his ass. 😂
5:10 i'd argue you could do Rc1 there even if they didn't come from the same square to mirror the move, but I guess it depends whether you consider the entire move or just the end square
I immediately thought of two situations that should be clarified before the game started, and they both actually turned up: - Does it matter if something is captured? (which would mean Bxd5 isn't forcing Bd4) - Does it matter where it moves FROM? (which would mean Rb8-c8 isn't forcing Rf1-c1) Apparently, Simp thinks the answers are "no" and "yes", but it was never really addressed.
His interpretation is the more intuitive one to me, just move the same type of piece from a symmetrical starting square to a symmetrical target square. Instead of identifying moves with their notation.
i think you need to re-read the challenge captures (if possible to mirror) are forced. "where it moves from" only matters if moved from mirrorable position. Nothing ambiguous about that.
@@remus-alexandrusimion3439 the guy didn't mean whether a capture is forced if possible to mirror. he meant whether a move that is a capture forces a symmetrical move when that symmetrical move is possible but is not a capture. he even gave an example.
I don't think some people are properly reading the OP's question. There are multiple ways one might interpret the word "mirror" in the challenge description. Those insisting there is only one way to interpret it are immediately proven wrong by the fact that, in this thread of replies alone, there have been multiple interpretations. The OP was right to wonder how Simp would interpret the rule. I had the same questions he did.
Sounds similar to one of the drawback chess challenges and it would be almost impossible to accomplish, especially when you consider the effects of capturing.
@@Someone-tn8uri think early game would be possible since i do not include pawns, and trades from the opponent across sides would be eatable. Hard, but maybe doable for a player like simp
5:06 Depending on the definition of copying (mirror the move or mirror the result of the move) you could argue that he could have put his own rook to the mirror position.
"We get a one hundred rated American. My ancestors would have woken up from their graves just to throw their slippers at me if I had one of those in my room" nice one XD
I have watched Aman Hambleton's entire copycat speedrun, and NONE of his games had gotten even CLOSE to the level of chaos I have just witnessed. Good job!!!
I'm pretty sure partway through the challenge your opponent realized you were copying him and with the Queen move he decided to test it truly, but he didn't realize the second half of the challenge meaning if u can't copy it's a free move. He could have easily given u a repititional draw with his king though, but he's not a coward, unlike the dude who was playing the white pieces
Comment: Simp doing square root calculations is my favorite [sic] way to start my morning. Simp: Next time, try a coffee. And never has a truer word been spoken.
There were situations where you could have moved an identical piece into mirror position, and I feel like you should have to, and prefer the actual mirror piece when possible. Sort of trivialized the second half, which would have still been easy with a few more required mirrors.
That was no normal 100. For one, it featured an unprompted castle, but the other thing was they clearly worked out what you were doing… but didn’t have the intelligence to work out how to take advantage 😂 That said - given the lack of any declaration to the contrary during a long video, my suspicions say - definitely a paid actor here and I claim my $5!
I love that you could actually see the moment the opponent realized what Chess Simp was doing. The little cogs in his head sputtered to life with a plan...then immediately blundered the whole thing, lol.
@@alexandersemenov9588 In my opinion you can't measure something which doesn't exist. And of course you can't compare a thing with something nonexistent.
People always say in these comments "they figured you out!" on absolutely nonsensical shit that no one would ever guess. But this time... the opponent figured you out.
(this is bait. if simp is normal pedantic he'll take issue with sqrt(21) being an impossible distance on a chessboard. if he's a math major he'll take issue with me calling squared distance a metric, since it doesn't obey the triangle inequality)
