What a grinding affair this match has been. Where others get wild, throw tantrums, expel members of the entourage - Jasmine Paolini has a smile, a smirk, a laugh, and the energy of a bouncing ball. She is a giant in putting things into a healthy perspective. A thrown kiss at mother and father.
Everybody is different so hush with the comparisons. Jasmine isn’t special and has only made it to the finals by pure luck bc the WTA tour is full of mediocre losers.
Paolini's footspeed is impressive, but what's incredible is her anticipation. She has an amazing sense of where the next ball is going before her opponent even hits it. Djokovic has that ability as well. Pretty good company.
Vekic fought through some serious physical issues. She didn't even have the strength to celebrate her winning points or games. That match point save at 5-6 was amazing.
Paolini's forehand became one of my favorite forehands on the WTA rn in terms of looks/mechanism, but the pace and trajectory look pretty damn good as well
A minute of silence for those who missed this thriller. Edge of the seat stuff from the second set till that memorable tie-breaker. Wow!! An instant Wimbledon classic for sure!
@@squidjames7735 I can't believe this is the longest semi in Wimbledon. I haven't followed the women's tour in years, but come on, they used to not play tiebreaks in the third, so there must have been longer matches.
Paolini is 28 and hadn’t gone beyond the second round in any slam before this year - it’s insane! And now back to back finals. Where was she hiding all these years? Anyway, love her aggressive playing style, her confidence at the net, her fearlessness. She’s got a great chance to be Wimbledon champion.
I think she found her strenght inside her, with the help of the coach AND the wave of italian tennis (Sinner is an example to follow for all italian tennis players,he helped the italian movement to grow, and italian players to believe in themselves)
Paolini non sarebbe adatta al volo sui campi da tennis ma lei non lo sa e sfida le leggi della fisica (e del fisico) per dimostrare a tutti che niente è impossibile! Meravigliosa! 🎉👏🏼💪🏻
This along with Osaka vs Swiatek at the French are the two best matches of the year so far. So entertaining and both deserved to win. Congrats Paolini!
100% right. That Osaka had the game on her palm but Swiatek did let Osaka easily. Although they are two different surfaces, they still produced good tennis. Plus there was no yelling like that of Aryna Sabalenka.
I can only imagine the whirlwind of emotions that must have surged through Mom and Dad as they watched their daughter’s dramatic journey unfold on the hallowed grass courts of Wimbledon. First, their hearts sank as she lost the opening set, her first serve faltering like a ship in a storm. But then, a glimmer of hope ignited as she rallied, fighting back to claim the second set with fierce determination. The third set, a marathon of endurance and skill, stretched on, each point a symphony of tension and resolve. It culminated in a nail-biting tie-break, every stroke and volley a testament to her unyielding spirit. And then, the crescendo of victory-she triumphed, securing her place in the grand slam finals for the very first time at the age of 28. Jazmine Paolini, standing at just 5'4", has defied the odds and etched her name into the annals of tennis history. Her victory is a beacon of perseverance, lighting the path for those who dare to dream beyond their limits. Phew! The courts of Wimbledon will forever echo with the story of her remarkable journey.
This match was tremendous! Both players gave all and then some. Easily the best match of the tournament. I really enjoy watching Paolini battle, she gives me the impression she can weather any challenge an opponent throws at her. Will be rooting for her to win the trophy.
True. Donna played better than all other rounds, but i think the toll of many hours on court, got the better of her. She looked exhausted by the time the tie break came around. I think she tried to wrap that match early to avoid exhaustion, but Jasmine resilience changed all that.
Chiquitita strikes again. And what a strike! Excellent endurance and grind. Donna also played fantastic, but somehow Jasmine did not collapsed under pressure but hold the fort admirably. A gem of a match.
the 5 ft 4 inch Jasmine Paolini is in the champion zone, her tennis IQ has grown so much in a year, it's like she's one step ahead of her opponent and she rarely makes a mistake. Reminds me a lot of Justine Henin .... Gotta love Paolini, her smile and game is infectious ....
I think Babora will, Donna utterly choked here. physically and mentally she couldnt handle it and gave Jasmine chances, also Keys who was serving for the set. I think a good grass player can take Jasmine out in straight sets if mentally they are there.
@@deusexmachina9776 I think the same. She was pretty lucky with Madison, and Donna was absolutely devastated by tiredness. But Jasmine Is deserving anyway; great tennis and she Is much an athlete than many other players
In the age of a wave of Eastern European 1.75m super soldiers all standing and baseline hitting, we have Paolini taking the ball early, tons of topspin, variety of shots and great net play. Great to see.
Absolutely Masterful Tennis all around! I definitely want Jasmine to win it all not just because I think her game is outstanding ,but because every time she smiles, it makes me smile. 😊 When she roars I feel it. It's all in the emotion. Go Jasmine 😀❤️🌹
This match was insane, instant classic and one for the history books what a tassle, shame one had to lose, proud of jasmine pulling through now go get that title, Donna should be just as proud she has come so far since her injuries and now a grand slam semifinalist is incredible
Paolini has more solutions. Even when things seem to be going wrong, he finds the right solution. If other players have only one pattern, she has many. I think it's her positivity and her wonderful smile.
There was a moment in the 2nd set when Vekic missed an overhead to break and for the rest of the match Jasmine would bend and bend and bend but would just never break. She dug deep to win that match
@@tajjisharp late bloomers tend to slow down after the initial year of success - Kerber didn't sustain in 2018 and didn't go back to that level. it is so difficult
I love her. Especially the fact she’s a fighter and she won’t go away 😂. Reminiscent of Arantxa Sanchez - vicarious with her energy. She has a lot of variety too. More of her ,Emma Navarro,Barbora krejcikova and muchova ,please.
Donna Vekic, almost physically and emotionally drained; not believing staff could not bring her a simple ice pak for her forearm and Paolini with 2 ice paks rubbing her thighs at the sit-down, finally succumbs to the most even semi I've ever watched. Jasmine Paolini...the first Italian woman in a Wimbledon Final in history. Topolina against all odds manages a victory. SALUTE !
I remember watching Jasmine years ago in a match she won against Garcia, and i couldn't understand why she was ranked so low. She has such a complete game and her technique is superb. I'm glad she's finally got the belief in herself because she's a joy to watch.
Wow, that late game stamina from Paolini and what a forehand! She's so goddamn fun to watch! Give it up to Vekic for putting up a great competition, she played the net well and had some graceful slices. A classic at Wimbledon.
