The Reggie Jackson HR at Tiger Stadium in the early 1970s MLB All-star game was hit so hard that it is said it was still rising when it hit the lights and fell back on the field in pieces. Old yankee stadium prior to 1970 was 461' to dead centre with a 20 ' wall, Mantle hit two out there. There still is a picture of the lone fan seated in the area catching the ball about 20 rows back. 520' away from home plate. It's a fact. That is one that has photographic proof. Only three balls ever made that wall Mantle hit two.Mantle hit two balls that came within inches of leaving Yankee stadium nobody else ever came close. Adam Dunn was a phenom. I call him Mr. 40 / 100. Five years in a row he hit EXACTLY 40 home runs and some 100 RBIs (RBIs actually 100 to 106). He had seven seasons with 40-46 HRs and two with 38, each season 100 RBIs give or take a few. He couldn't hit for squat, lifetime .237, but if you wanted a guaranteed 40 / 100, this was the guy to get. Amazing.

Dude was a beast. Especially in 96’ when he really went off. I feel like he’s just a forgotten power hitter from that era that gets overlooked because of Griffey, Sosa, and McGwire. The year prior Kingman played for the Mets and hit the roof of that very same house. So add another 20 feet and you're probably looking at 560. And unlike a lot of these other home runs that are estimates they actually took out a tape measure and got an exact distance. The story showing the guy with the tape measure was in the Chicago Tribune.

Ur telling me that 5'11 195 mickey mantle with 1950's technology and equipment hit a ball significantly further than guys like McGuire, Canseco, and Dunn. I'm sorry to all Yankee diehards but it's just not accurate.
@baileybrown811
@baileybrown811 4 года назад
@@parkercrossland410 it's a true fact. Mickey had the bat speed and torque in his swing and he was stronger than most guys in the league. There is footage of him hitting a 520 or 530 somewhere, so I believe the 565 was real

@parkercrossland410
@parkercrossland410 4 года назад
@@baileybrown811 Ah so is that why none of those were included in this vid? If you honestly believe that Mantle could do that and the enlarged humans of the 90's-today couldn't, you've either been told that from a very young age when the mind is more easily manipulated, you actively are denying physics, or you're lying to yourself. Heavier bats are harder to get the bat speed on. If you wanted to tell me he really got ahold of one and hit it 500, I'd be more inclined to believe it. But 25 feet further than the next furthest hit ball in history, that was hit by a man taking a concoction of banned substances and was 6 inches taller and 45 pounds heavier, is literally not believable unless you are a Yankee fan.

Mickey is generally accepted as the player who hit the longest home runs in history. The one he hit off the facade at Yankee Stadium was still on the way up when he hit it and was attested to by many witnesses in the stands and on the opposing team. I was estimated it would lave landed somewhere around 700 feet from home plate. His most talked about home run was his 565ft drive over the left center field bleachers at Griffith Stadium. Mickey relied on his coal miners strength - not steroids.

Obviously this was done by someone that has never seen a baseball game pre-1980 or so (with the exception of the Reggie Jackson clip). Mickey Mantle hit a home run that was measured at 565 feet. Harmon Killebrew of the Twins and Frank Howard of the Senators both hit many tape-measure shots in their illustrious careers that would dwarf some of these home runs.

At one time, Stargell held the record for the longest home runs in nearly half of the NL parks. I was fortunate enough to watch his blasts. He made it look so effortlessly. I know he hit many over 500 feet and they marked most of the seats with an S. In 1978, against Wayne Twitchell of the Montreal Expos, Stargell hit the only fair ball ever to reach the club deck of Olympic Stadium. The seat where the ball landed (the home run was measured at 535 feet) was replaced with a yellow seat, while the other seats in the upper deck are red. Upon the Expos departure in 2004, the seat was removed and sent to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.
