Today we take a look at a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 210,000 miles. We go in depth looking at the wear and tear and finally discover if you should consider one for yourself. Find me on Instagram @toplineracer
Best truck? Easy my 2000 Chevy Silverado 2500, 6.0L Vortec. 363,800 miles when purchased, Jan '15. Now at 428,500 miles, May '19. $2,600 out the door cost. However, you have a very nice looking truck. Hope it continue to work many more miles for you.
@@MarkPdot I completely agree with you! I love the 6.0 with the 4l80E transmission. They will pretty much last forever! This truck was just a flip project (you can see if in my other videos). Great to hear about your truck! Thanks for watching!
Had an 08 silverado and it was the best truck I ever owned. I now own a 2017 silverado and had nothing but problems from new, I'm going to go buy myself another 08.
Have a 17 High Country 6.2L,that I bought new, its babied and maintained with the best of everything. Hope I'll get 10 years plus. Nice Silverado looks great. Thanks for sharing from Nova Scotia
Good review, great honest video! I agree Chevy truck are always ready to go.. I have a 08 with 136,000+ on it and she's never left me stranded. Even when I got stuck in a huge hole, she finally powered out of it and been running every day after.. I can't complain about it..
I just bought a 2012 Silverado Z71 1500 with only 69k miles and is one owner, super clean, no rust, no body damage! I always take great care of my vehicles, and I hope this will last me a long time!
Guy I worked with at my last job had 390,000 miles on his 2010 and I drove it, very good truck didn’t even notice the milage. I had a 05 with 300,000 miles when I sold it and I miss it because the thing was bulletproof.
Yes i subscribed because even though you are a chevy guy you said the truth because i love my truck, but im not crazy about the interior. Although they are insanely reliable. I know that if i flip the switch it’s going to start and run!
2010 f-150 5.4L with 213,000 miles. Has cracked exhaust manifold, rear cab corners are rusted out, and the truck always thinks my rear doors are open and warns me every time I start it up. Otherwise been very happy with it. Drives smooth, shifts nice, steering is tight. I tow my bobcat a few times a year and my fishing boat pretty often. My local bar tender had his 2009 up to 260,000 miles before trading in. Ran good but had the same rusted cab corners I have on mine.
TopLineRacer awww yeah for sure! ...Now a f150 Super Crew xlt or better a long or short box with the triton 4.6 l or the 5 l great truck I got 1 in Canada mint 100,000 mil for all said and done truck included tires brakes ect was 5000 Canadian..it is a 2001 but mint! ..now in the USA's market ..you have so many options ...look in to a 150 for your set price and find one to review ...you hit a niche in the auto world ..keep up with this ..no one is doing it like you ..peace Sean. Nice job👍✌🙂🇨🇦
👍Awesome content!👍 My Daily, a 07 Chev Tahoe currently has just over 285k miles on the 5.3L (same as yours), runs & drives like brand new! 🤞 Btw, it also has zero rust, etc... but then again it’s always lived it’s life in NC & SC ☀️ 🏝. As for the interior & cosmetics, the only issues I’ve had are the notorious plastic dash cracking & a small rip on the drivers seat bottom bolster.
I love all chevy products they are reliable they are there when you need them we have 2 Chevys one is 2011 avalanche LTZ with 150,000 miles and a 2013 2500 HD z71 silverado regular cap with around 113,000 miles we really love them and btw, i am from Saudi Arabia and here it's not like the US GM and chevy is in the top then ford so, you see tahoe, silverados and GMC Yukon, sierra allot in towns much more than the Toyota land cruiser 🤣👍 good luck and have a nice day for this great video
Just bought a 2009 Silverado for $ 1200 CDN. This guy was right about the white paint peeling, but that is the least of my worries. Motor is strong and sound at 206,000 kms, and body is not rotted anywhere underneath. I feel I made a good purchase as it took so little to certify.
Even the previous generations, from '99-'02 and the cat eye '03-'06 were good. I may have those years wrong, but anyway. Our work truck is an '02 Suburban with 327k miles and still going, and that's entirely city type miles, going from job to job in and around town. My personal truck is an '05 that I bought new, and still drive, with 160k miles on it, and it has the old cast iron 4.3 V6 with a five speed manual. I keep it clean and maintained and it still looks nearly new. I may not live long enough to ever need another truck. I'm in west Texas so I've never seen a rusted truck in person, only in videos.
I had a 2008 regular cab, it was my work truck I received brand new, I put 313,000 miles on it, the only thing our shop did to it was 3. Sets of brakes and one alternator, and I still see it on the road today!
2007 with 270,000 miles. Replaced transmission once, throttle body, starter, couple sensors, and rebuilt the front suspension for the first time 2 years back. Overall solid truck!
I've got a 2007 GMC Sierra with a very similar interior except that mine is a 6 passenger one but it's funny that it's worn out the same way that truck has
I have the same interior in my 2007 GMC Sierra Z71 and like that it is simple and functional. If you can't deal with the black plastic, go buy one of those woodgrain dash kits :-). Also I don't know why everyone cries "CHEAP" on this interior -- IMO the interiors in the 99-06's (and 95-98's for that matter) were really cheesy with shiny plastics and lots of wide panel gaps.
2013 Silverado 1500 z71 LT. 147,xxx on it and still running strong, no lifter tic yet but I can sense it coming. Bunch of minor body and frame rust spots I need to take care of before they become a problem but aside from that it's an absolute beast of a truck.
Yep I have a 2013 in Canada and just drove it half way across the country. It is a fun truck to drive. A few issues as well with rust but I am getting it repainted as it only as 129,000Km (80000 miles).
My '09 Silverado has 111,000 miles with the 4.8 liter engine. I got it from my son, he took care of it. I have the required maintenance done at the dealership we bought it from. It runs just great. I hope I can make it to 200,000 miles.
Strong reliable runner especially in snow if maintenance is kept up, although surface rust takes over it especially here in Colorado. Then interior, exterior plastics are trash and require replacement followed by common GM issue their seat fabric also is trash. Especially chrome wraps on wheels and door handles. GM mechanically improved this model after 2010. Mine is 12 LTZ, I slowly fixing it up.
The 4l60e isn’t bad I have my 05 Silverado with 220k miles and the only major problem has been a headgasket the trans extremely well sometimes going into reverse is a little rough but that’s it...
2009 Silverado 1500 5.3L LY5 engine. Tuned out AFM at 60k miles, truck has 180k miles now on. Stock engine, stock trans, I’m still on stock plugs and wires (will change soon)
I have a 2010 Silverado crew cab. 215,000 miles now. It's white. No rust. No paint peeling. My only issue is the TPMS won't read the right side sensors (sensors are good) and sometimes the dash board instrument lights will dim but still readable.
@@calebmelton5989 funny thing about it is he knows his cars, but because he gets alot of views and subs on his channel, he just tells people what they wanna hear, rather than telling the truth. I've worked on cars for many years myself, and I could never lie to people about stuff.
I've got you beat! 230,000 miles on my 2010 that is an exact twin of your truck, except mine is an LT with tan leather and 20" chrome wheels. It's been a very dependable truck. Only real breakdown was a right front wheel bearing. It went from "what's that noise?" to "Holy crap I hope I make it to the shop before the wheel falls off!" in one day. Shocks replaced with KYB and also replaced tie rod ends and anti-sway bar bushing. Rear diff had a slight leak so that took a new seal for $600! Everything still works but driver side switch paned is replaced and pass side needs a switch ...it'll go down but not back up. I plan on driving it until one of us croaks.
2010 Chevy Silverado LT 5.3 LT 6l90 six speed automatic 2 wheel drive , 289,000 still running strong original engine and transmission... 🤷🏻♂️ basic maintenance Very well kept
2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 6.2L Crew Cab owner here I live in the Florida Keys I bought the truck brand new in 2010 motor still running strong and after 10 years I only have 160K miles on it she's my baby girl almost tempted to sell with gas prices and the crazy resale value
I have a 2009 Chevy Silverado LT 234088 miles. I bought it 5 years ago with 70,000 Mi on it. My lifters were going out, got the top of my engine done. So far so good steady running Iike a champ.
I bought a rolled one for 500 put new fenders hood and radiator core support etc. All came with truck. I shampooed footprints out of roof where guy climbed out and now fixing some roof damage it has 250,000 miles showing with paperwork for new motor at 160,000 I am all in under $1,000 right now after roof and a couple other things still be well under $2,000 minus my labor but best truck I have ever had run so solid comfortable LTZ package and I knew older couple that bought it new and then slid out of the road and rolled onto top
@@TopLineRacer only because I have had pretty good luck with cars with high mileage and don't mind buying them and rocking out for a year or two then switching...so I like the insights on different older models that still pass the test if you know what I'm saying. And your gonna put time and money into any car u buy anyway... So f@#* it lol
@@ronaldward201031 Thats exactly what I do as well. It's worked out very well for me overall. I generally can drive an older car for 2 years and sell it for darn close to what I paid.
I literally just traded in my 03 z71 silverado with 175k miles tonight into a 2013 gmc sierra z71. 3rd gear would slip somtimes on my 03 with the 4l60e but only under wide open throttle. And that was just somtimes. On cold start and driving cold it would shift hard but still would shift. My 2013 gmc sierra has 82k miles and so far it seems okay no lifter noise nor did my 03. I have a powertrain warranty I paid for it which covers the engine, transmission and transfercase. Fingers crossed😁
Got a 08 z71 crew cab from copart for 2600 with 150k all it needed was a new head light and had a little rust cosmetic and i mechanically i had to get new manifolds and the left valve cover .... i got the bed for $800 and treated the frame for rust im in Florida so i dont have to worry about the rust issue much.. that thing rides so smooth i know I'll get another 150k easy out of it my neighbor offered to trade for his 2014 with 90k but 2wd
4L60E is a very reliable transmission. One of the cheapest to rebuild. I have to disagree on not being reliable comments. Love these trucks. I have had 4 and all were good. Driving a new looking 2007 today. Zero rust on the body and a tiny amount on the frame which I have cleaned and coated. 4.8 running like a charm. Everything in the North East rust. I'm in NC. My dad had a 1995 model and the transmission was rebuilt a 100K but the 350 engine has 300K today and still running.
I know this vid is a little older but I have a 10 silverado 4x4 4 door. Full crew cab 1500. Overall I am happy with it. It now has 145,000 on it and it runs and drives so smooth and quietly. Tranny shifts well. My favorite part is it doesn't have the push button or knob switch 4x4. An actual shift lever like the mid 90s trucks had. That drew me to it right away. What I really dislike is the instrument cluster it doesn't have a battery voltage guage or oil pressure guage. Just the idiot lights. Why were some made like that?
Base models only had the bare minimum with gauges, the next trim had volt and oil psi, then the next trim had leather and the final trims had the bad ass dash with center console.
Just bought one with 57,ooo miles super excited to get it on Monday but I’m not gonna lie it was like 17 grand but to get a crew cab 4x4 my opinion it’s worth it
I bought a 2010 with 58,000 miles on it and two tears later with 93,000 miles on it I had to replace the engine {$8600.00} due to the "active fuel management". So have a nice day.
@@marcv.5574 They said sometimes this happens. The "no oil pressure" light came on first. They said it was the oil pump {$1200.00} replacement. That lasted about 2000 mile and the light came on again. This time they said the engine was done. {Different Chevy dealer}. They could'nt explain why. Said it was a bad design and it happens. No credit for the initial fuel pump {$1200} and $8600 for a replacement crate motor. I went to an independent guy to do the work and the dealer had the nerve to try and undercut the price of the independent guy. It was a total F-you from my perspective. Never going to a Chevy dealership again. It was Friendly Chevrolet in Dallas TX.
I feel ya man, I have 09 crew cab, 4.8 Ls, and have had nothing but problems, the lifters and top end went out at 38k miles, 4000 repair job, broken manifold bolts, rear differential blown out at 75k miles, have had the front end completely rebuild twice. Im at 78k miles now and most door locks and windows are going out, has the "chevy lean". Ive babied this thing too, I must have bad luck. And not to mention there's a class action laws against GM for these years of trucks just for these reasons
I have a 2003 chevy s10 2wd but it has almost no rust, engine is quiet,no bubbling of rust under the paint, the interior is clean, GMC is better than any other company👍
Got 291,000 miles on my 2007 suburban original engine but I’m on the 3rd transmission. And as as far as rust there is almost none. Only a little bit of surface rust on some of the suspension nuts and bolts and that’s it. Been in Virginia it’s whole life.
I've seen some with mild rust and some with really bad corrosion. You would think they would know how to prevent corrosion by now. Zinc coating prevents corrosion.

my dads work truck (2011 silverado 2500hd) is going on 300k mile in Montanans TX getting sand blasted daily only a few rust spots if that doesn't peal it nothing will also it has the the same rip in the arm rest
I have a gen 1 Silverado that somehow is solid even though I live in Michigan. It may not be the best truck ever, but it's a good truck and should last another 17 years.
I have a 2011 K1500 work truck with 121k. Regular cab long box. Manual locks, windows and 4x4 floor shift. Stock radio and rubber floor. Has rust around the rear wheels but it's a Chevy and I'd knew that it would happen eventually. 😅
Im a tundra guy but im looking at this same one 2011-13 with the z71 package, whats the best engine options btw? I'm at the begging ing of the video so idk if u mentioned it yet lol.
I have the same year and truck 2009 Z71 4x4 LT mine is a crew cab with the dual color interior design keep the front end lubricated every oil change and the transmission will need a rebuild around 250k miles give or take 5k there mine has the 6L80 6 speed transmission but any dodge owner will tell you 250k on a transmission is rely good lmao the rebuild is around 3k to have it done but other than that its a good sterdy truck for the price I've owned mine for going on 6 years now boughtbit with 168k miles and a lofter did collapse under warranty around 180k miles on it.
2009 Silverado LT…..230K miles. Had it since 120K miles. Lifter in my #4 cylinder recently collapsed. Currently getting repaired. My ONLY major repair. Shooting for 300K!
i have a 2009 1500 ext cab. 4.8/4l60e 4x4 and in excellent condition, no rust/rot whatsoever. and i have completely replaced the entire front suspension, upper control arms and balljoints, lower ball joints, tie rod ends,, one wheel bearing and both CV axles due to failures on these components. without offroading. all before 90,000 miles and the transmission exploded and died a loud terrible death. at 70,000 miles. with mild towing. Radio fried, EVAP purge solenoid failure 2x, Fuel pump control module failed due to water intrusion, airbag light is on and the notorious EVAP small leak code has been on for 2 years, without an obvious cause. replaced all hardware, and gas cap. still on. the only good thing about these trucks i like are the engine. and body style, i think they look great. but other than that, im selling it soon. had it for yeeeears, and been a money pit the whole time.

omg, have a 2012 w/4.8 litre absolutely the best and most dependable vehicle i have ever owned, LOVE MY BOWTIE, dont have AFM, truck purrs like kitten, CHEVY, LIKE A ROCK
