Big Boys would've been called the "Wasatch" (named after the mountains the locomotive would traverse), but someone at ALCO (American Locomotive Company) chalked the words "Big Boy" on the smokebox door, and the name stuck

Train nerd here: you overall did a really good job on this video but there are 2 things i’d like to correct you on. first of all at 4:35 you called 4014 the “four o one four” and whilst this isint fact based everyone in the train community typically calls it the “forty fourteen”. the second thing i’d like to correct is at 6:45 where you said that rail fans prefer longer trains, this is actually not true lots of railfans actually hate longer trains because it means less frequent trains. other than that the video was great and i enjoyed it i’ve honestly seen much worse videos with simular titles so good job 👍

5:19 The size comparison is complete buꙆꙆѕhіt. Comparing a standard gauge train to a narrow gauge mountain railway is as valid as comparing a standard gauge train to the train in Disneyland. The actual difference is marginal: US max width = 10'6" (3.2 m), Europe max width = 3.1 m

@patriciaposthumus6684 3 месяца назад
@wisecampmotorcycles8258 I really had no choice in the matter. I was 8 yrs old, and my dad decided that is what we were going to do. We lived with my grandparents in Fullerton, Ca, for a few months until dad got a job in the printing trade here since that was what he did in Australia. But I do remember the train ride like it was yesterday. My brother and sister were always afraid to walk between the train cars. We had 2 sleeper compartments, mom and my sister and brother in one, and me and dad in another (I was the only one who could sleep through dads snoreing that close). We ate, showered, and slept on the train. I remember watching the roos hopping by as we traveled through the bush. I really have fond memories of that train ride. At the time 1975, that line was the world's longest stretch of straight track. I remember watching out the window as we pulled into the station, and I could see both ends of the train as we made the turn in. From Sydney, we flew to Hawaii (that's our port of entry). From Hawaii, we flew to LAX. It was a memorable trip.

You should have included the dedicated freight corridors in India. They are atleast 1.5 km long, run at speeds of 100km/h, are hauled by the world's most powerful locomotive which has over 12000 horsepower and the most exciting part is, IT'S A DOUBLE STACK TRAIN, meaning their are 2 stacks of containers on the train. There are lots of videos on RU-vid about it. It's the most advanced freight project in the world.
