No slurred speech, no delays between thoughts, no bobbing of the head - good neck muscles - those are massive signs of a youthful brain. IMHO.

Out of pure curiosity... What do neck muscles have to do with a youthful brain? I'd never make this connection myself.

@@clodieclod actually you're right, but it means he has got muscle tone at least, but my thought was if his nerve pathways are affected he many not have good muscular coordination, be it in his arms legs or otherwise.

Thorp is an absolute legend for several reasons. He talks about racewalking. When I worked at the Olympic Training Center in the late 80's, we had a racewalker come in who was turning miles in about 4:10. It looks funny, but it's probably a great choice for older athletes. Rock on, Ed Thorp!

Let me tell you something, I am an X-Ray tech and I X-Rayed and 89 year old man yesterday. A chest X-Ray. He doesn't seem 89. Tops 69. I even told him that. I hardly tell people things like that, but I was amazed. His walking, gait, voice, speaking, attitude, look and liveliness. Some people say so and so or so and so doesn't look his age but most time I differ because I think they are just being kind, but this man definitely was 69 aging wise and not the 89 chronological age he was on paper. I was really taken back.
