It turns out that the goal of the double jumps is for THE OSTRICH to clear the lower nest and the second jump is for Simba to clear the 2nd one. Took me years to realize that it was registering the Ostrich getting hit as well as Simba
This game basically symbolises the entire story of lion King. Kids who couldn't clear past the second stage in the childhood and abandoned the game (just like simba). return back as adults after so many years to conquer this game !!! 😁
Maybe I'd consider playing this (for the first time) as a SNES player. But after seeing these replies maybe.. I'd also rather leave to more proficient players
It’s funny to read these comments about the second level 😂 we made it past, my brother and I, but the second level is always the one I remember…. Sometimes just randomly after I beat a hard level or dungeon etc nowadays 😂 I’ll just think “damn that lion king level was hard” 😅
How the hell did they expect a 6-10 year old to beat this damn game. I remember watching my older brother playing haha always having to start over hahaha we never saw Simba grow up in the game lol
I play this as 7 years old and was able complete this game. So why not we are "old gaming generation" we love when games was hard (lion king isnt hard) Todays game are little bit for idiots just visual and not so much challenging gameplay.
@@GodFormHermet Not in middle Europe, it ´s not so hard for us. :) Just joke, I complete this game remember fight with Scar i still hit him and nothing happen than was able to throw him so my suggestion was throw him from cliff and end game.. this game is easy. I always play game hard for finish so nothing special. I remember other games like a scorch, dyna blaster ou so much memories.
7 year old me rented this and somehow made it to the end where you fight scar and I could not figure out how to beat him. same thing happened to me with Aladdin.
There’s also a glitch that makes simba stand upside down while scar slaps the air XD simba Is The Air LOL ( I typed simba and it tries to auto correct to dumb XD )
I used to play this when I was like 6 years old, however for some reason in my memories this game had HD quality and now it's so weird seeing what it actually looks like :D
PC graphics have improved so much that while this looks poor by today's standards, it was quite impressive back then. Likely it boils down to the fact that you didn't expect such high quality (for that time) graphics from a pc game. Also I believe that many old school graphics look a bit odd on todays large flat screen monitors. When I first saw this game it was on a 15" crt monitor. Now I have a 24" flat screen. :-) Just that alone makes a difference when looking at this game.

I played this in the year 2000 on our win 98 pc, this was when I was 4 with my dad...getting a blast of nostalgia here. We never beat the game so rewatching this makes me feel complete. 😝
@दलित मानवतावादी भारतीय You can buy it off Disney along with Aladdin (6 in 1) even with a rewind function and some (concept) extra's. Or you can try this; bit.ly/dosmenu
You clearly have some skills here, I remember playing the Stampede and Elephant Graveyard with sweaty hands as a kid because it was so bloody difficult! I think I finished the game once and literally went outside and started dancing in the garden...
Ah the 90s. When games were more mysterious, movies and tv shows were better. I also remember that game SpyCraft. Miss those good old days. Thanks for posting.
Yes I daydream too of times past (maybe pine) and the great time it was. Pre internet and social media. The 80s and 90s - great games, great music and great movies/TV.
@@streeTkiDwannaBe much better than the 90's 🤣. Nick is still milking the shit outta SpongeBob and that came out in the 90's. Some of the best cartoon network shows came out in the 90's. But I will say early 00's did have some gems but there will never be shows like King of the Hill, South Park, Family Guy, The Simpsons, Gargoyles, Batman TAS, Spiderman TAS or X-Men TAS all of those were great.
I remember playing this game over 20 years ago. I couldn't get past the 2nd part of the 2nd level where the ostrich ride doesn't tell you to jump, double jump, or duck. I guess a kid's memory and reaction time is just too limited.
I never really had those issues. My hardest issue was reaching the end of the level by roaring at the right monkeys and set them up so they help you reach the end. Although I had to say I still find it hard to time the double jump right sometimes.
How can you have the slightest difficulty on the second level? I mean I could get it done as a child within minutes. Blimey, that is why I exclude myself from the millennials.
British Tutor I was 5 or 6 years old at the time, and not really a motivated gamer. I’m sure the more avid gamer of that age group had no problem with it! Luckily my older bro helped me past these parts so we both had our fun!
That intro reminds me of those days when you already get excited after starting the game in the DOS prompt and realize the game is running properly. Good memories.
I remember playing this on my then PC, for exactly two sittings. One alone and one with a friend of mine. Total play time about an hour, perhaps. I still want that hour back. Beautiful game, gorgeous music, level design from hell.
This is probably the first game I ever played on our Win 98 PC and I remember clearing level 2 fairly easily but seeing Elephant Graveyard, Stampede and Simba's Exile still makes my hands sweat after over 20 years. I was so bad at jumping in this game, level 5 and 6 were a nightmare to me, I quit the game so many times in the log jumping in Hakuna Matata. I cleared the game once and never touched it again. What a nostalgia blast, still love the graphics!
This game was a huge part of my childhood, I remember listening to the intro over and over because I liked doing that with games, only by watching this do I realize that I only got past the FIRST LEVEL!!!
@@Dosgamert I always do this when the music is great and ... Well, it's the lion king, I don't have to tell anything about the music, everybody knows they are great 😁
This game was one of the first really beautiful ones for the systems of the time. And it was SO difficult! That's ok though, the hard is what makes it great. I also had a massive collection of Lion King pogs. Thanks for the reminisce!
after reading these comments its nice to know that im not the only one that kept on dying at one point and has the meow slashes drop and black screen imprinted into their brain and never got to finish the game
Thanks for posting this. My older brother showed me how to play this when we were kids (or at least, showed me how to get to the elephant graveyard and neither of us could get any further.) He died last year and it's one of very few childhood memories I still have - I'd forgotten all about it til I watched this. The "It starts" really threw me back.
I felt myself playing the game in my childhood.. my brother, two sisters used to sit beside watching me play this game.. it seems it has brought a whole of my childhood again to me. Loved this game and all the charm of this game was gone when I ended beating scar..
My dad had gotten me this game on our Pentium 4 back in early 2000s.I was just 6 years old. I used to get like 1 hr to play this game daily. I remember I had played this game right after my school and my mom was always furious that I had not even changed my uniform. Aaaaaa it gave me nostalgia when I had finished this off. the goosebumps when the simba grows older in later stages of game and maaynnn the sound tracks of this game brings old good times back.
Man, this brings back sooo many memories... BUT watching this made me realise that playing this game as a child might have been a deciding factor in why I am so angry and frustrated as an adult xD I learned it by playing this and getting pissed :D
I had this game on the first Nintendo gameboy… NO color, just black and white. I remember a couple of levels a little differently but overall it’s identical. I think I finished it twice in over 100 different attempts 😂 Thanks for the flashback!!
I like how old games now can be played on the internet. I looked up and played lion king on some site (hakuna matata it was entirely safe) and what can I say? Just like the original.
I remember playing this on our old pc, good memories. It was so hard for me to get through the 4th lvl. We still have this game and i love to play it once in a while, now it's so easy to win.🤣
OMFG those spiders dude.... the most annoying enemy in the game (and i found them quite creepy when i was a kid) Thanks for this video, i was looking at the Sega version and the PC version soundtrack and none of those seemed to really fit my memory. Now i know which version i played and will replay when i feel like :)
I can't even remember if I ever finished this game! But thank you for uploading this, I've certainly made it far myself, but to see the end after all those years, I feel relieved xD
I left this game but completed it after 2 years still in my childhood when I found a emulator that could save the progress. That emulator helped me clear it
I wasn’t expecting to be one of the small number of commenters who beat this game as a child without cheats. Played on SNES and Genesis. Believe me, I know it’s disgustingly difficult but if you put the time in it’s doable.
