Another gem. Even (perhaps especially) in trying times, it’s words and thoughts like those from Secretary Lonnie Bunch that make us breathe a little easier by remembering our history and realizing that there is always hope. Our American story consistently teaches us that despite the challenges of any given moment, the broader arc is one of progress. Thank You, Margaret Hoover and the team at Firing Line for always delivering deep, though provoking, quality programming. You’re the best on TV…or any medium for that matter…and a shining example of what intelligent and mature discourse can and should look like.
I don't think Americans can be more educated on black history we have been over exposed to black history. Learning more details about black history will not help.
What if we either integrated ADOS history with African history or with American history and scrapped exclusively ethnic history. In other words, what if we treated all Americans as equals.
Over two thousand years ago (300-400 BC) ideals such as brotherhood and liberty were not a part of life in Ancient Greece as they are today! It would be great if the Simthsonian could incorporate (capture) the feelings and thoughts, the ideals, the strivings of humankind in the previous epochs going back to Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt, Persia and India.
