Geoffrey Smith Lonnie Mack is a blues artist at heart. Elektra tried briefly to make him a folk singer, which is how we got this album. It was an awkward fit, but the album is still great. Which, as you point out, just shows how talented Lonnie Mack is.
A real gentleman and an amazing talent. I had the pleasure of running into him several times over the years and got to spend some time sharing stories about the "old days" when Wayne Bullock, Ron Grayson and Truman Fields were in his band. We've lost a giant.
Don't be. I follow him on FaceBook and saw it there right after he died. I thoroughly like his music, and was happy that he was one of the few musicians who actually got to retire from the business. He bought himself a farm and quit putting out albums. Our loss, I suppose, but I was happy for him anyway.
