In this episode of Look At This!, Desmond Shaw takes us to San Bernardino County. Standing more than 11,000 feet high, Mount San Gorgonio is the highest peak in Southern California.
Mt Baldy was mentioned as the third highest peak in SoCal--not true. The San Bernardino Mountains have 15 peaks that are taller than Mt Baldy (also Mt San Antonio) and above 10,068 feet. There are 3 peaks in SoCal that are 11,000 feet and up which are nearby to each other: Mt San Gorgonio, Jepson Peak and Big Draw Peak which are 11,503 ft, 11,205 ft and 11,171 ft respectively. Notice the timberline in the closeup shots, hardly any trees grow above 11,000 feet.
