Sat here at 3am after a hard 12 hours shift in a warehouse.. Arsing around with oscillation .. Dickin about with filters.. It honestly makes it all worth while. Nice one Robin. Totally awesome as always.❤️

Nice review! The #1222 is my favorite oscillator and maybe the second module I built/owned. I am glad Euroroack folks get to finally use it. Some bonus tips: 1. Crank that octave switch for nice sparkly effects per note - no need to be gentle 2. Use the tiny trim pot (the little brass one on the left) to tune the fine tune knob a bit. I turn the fine tune knob all the way up and then use the trim pot tune it exactly to the fifth. The fine tune knob is exactly an octave so this lets you quickly go up or down a fifth. Then rotate it back until it is in the middle. You may need to loosen the knob and recenter it so the arrow is in the middle, but not really necessary. 3. Like you mentioned, it sounds GREAT when paired with a second oscillator. If either is slightly out of tune, magic happens - especially for massive BASS. 5. If you like to use it for bass, you might use the tiny trim pot to tune it down an octave or two for more bass ranges.

I love your reviews, so informative, relaxed, intuitive, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Cool accent also. Just curious, do you ever perform live? I would love to do that, but unfortunately, I bacame disabled in 2016, unable to walk, and now I get around in a power chair. That would make it very difficult to do live performances so for now I'm just building my home studio. I'm just about done with it. I have found your reviews to be very informative and they have been a guide for me to pick out the modules I want to build and have in my racks. Thanks for all the great work you do for use Eurorack Artist. Best Regards, James

You are welcome fella, it's great to hear that these videos are helpful. I do try to perform when I can - usually at open mic nights but all sorts of things are possible. Access can be tricky for live performance but one of the great things about electronic music is that it doesn't require you to pose or dance about on stage - it's just you and the machine. Would the sync input not allow you to tune an external module, if you held the external input steady and set the VCO to a low frequency so sync acts more like a trigger? Rogue butterfly: ace.

Sort of but not very reliably. With the right octave selections and a bit of fiddling you are able to get the other oscillator to drive the tuner but it takes a fair bit of trial and error so it's actually simpler to tune by ear because you can't assume that it's going to be right if you do it without listening. I'll talk to Christian about it and see if that's supposed to be a thing or not.

Yeah, Robin’s right. It kinda works, but not really reliably. I wanted to stick to the original design, but it is probably the most common feature request. Perhaps the second most after bipolar scaled waveforms.

How do you calibrate the pitch tracking? I got one of these and the pitch tracking is really bad. It goes flat as you go up per note despite different pitch and pitch quantization sources.

I’ve not really experienced that. I didn’t do any calibration. Maybe follow the lmnc video guide on calibrating the kosmo version?
