I grew up in the ghetto. When i was a kid there was a guy down the street that had 20 of those Rolls Royce's in his backyard in perfect running condition. The guy was basically the equivalent to jay leno right in the middle of the ghetto. The word on the street was they were owned by an ex UK Boxer named Bill Hughes. In that neighborhood when you're 11 years old your Danger and Creep hackles are up really high so i was too affraid to talk to him about them.

The 6.0 liter W12 engine was implemented not only in the Phaeton, but also in the Audi A8 W12 with aluminum space frame weighing only 1.800 kilograms where the Phaeton weighs 2.300 kilograms. Also later in Touareg, and Audi Q7. So it produced a certain Volume in production.

The Bentley Continental was partly produced in Dresden at Gläserne Fabrik..especially the Silver Spur..

Henry Royce loved his Rolls Royce Twenty , it had 3.1 liter inline 6 with 50 bhp driving 50 kilometers in the country per hour and about 80 kilometers or 50 miles on longer distances. Mr Royce considered this as absolutely sufficient for driving..

The Phaeton is so much cooler than the Flying Spur even though they are basically the exact same car lol. The fact that VW made a limo with a twelve cylinder W configuration engine in the 2000s is just wacky

The straight up hood on the Bentley - I had a Volvo V70 and a Mercedes 190 that both did that. So simple in design but such a great idea that encourages maintenance and makes it easier. I can’t figure out why more manufacturers don’t do it. I will say, however, that I was very surprised to find a late 1960’s Dodge truck at a car show once that also opened straight up. Should be mandatory on all vehicles.

The Bentley Continental 6.0 liter W12 is supercharged for low revelation and turbocharged for higher revelations above 4.000 rpm or so. It produces 550 to 650 bhp depending on which version over more than 20 years of production. The VW Phaeton used the same engine block only naturally aspirated with injection system and 400 bhp after 5 years 420 bhp and from 2007 with 450 bhp until 2013.

Volkswagen produced a model called Mulsanne with new styling but still using a modernized version of the old Cosworth developed V8 , 6,75 liter engine. Between 2001 to 2015.. The Queen was driven in a Bentley with this V8 engine.

The problem with comparing appreciation, if any, over the last five years is that the current valuations don't take cumulative inflation into account over the period, which was substantial. (But currently in a normal range of 2.5%). To make any comparison the prices should have been adjusted for that factor..

The Silver Wraith in postwar from 1946 to 1956 it was used again from Kings, the engine was grown from 3.8 liter to 4.3 liters in 1946 and 4.7 liters in 1949 and finally of 4.9 liter in 1952…
