The reason its a big deal because all the prices are going up and minimum wage hasn't went up since 2009! Payrates have not been adjusted to reflect the cost of living! Its CRAZYYYYY...companies are making almost double if what they was making a couple years ago but yet their employees aren't seeing those profits on their paychecks! Companies should be paying their employees at least enough to pay a full months rent based on the rental market in a surrounding counties! So say the average rent is $1000.. their NET PAY per week should be at least half of that! That way the other 3 weeks they can pay the other necessity bills like (gas, electricity, water and groceries!) So here in Kentucky minimum wage SHOULD be at LEAST $15-$20 an hour! Alot of people including myself are working for starvation wages aka less than $10 an hour... not making enough to afford groceries but yet making "too much" to qualify for foodstamps!!! Even tho they go by gross income instead of net... why they count the GOVERNMENTS income as ours ill NEVER understand! I think if the money goes to the government and state then they should not be able to count it as our income when applying for government assistance! Alot of weeks we have to decide whether we're paying a bill or eating, no family should have to make that choice!! Anywho, thats my rant on the topic!!!

In the late 70’s early 80’s inflation was really bad. Unemployment was high. Every generation has something to deal with. My mom and dad grew up during the Depression. My brothers went to Vietnam. I don’t know how families today put food on the table. It’s also hard on older generations who have to choose between food and medicine.

I will say that in the 80's there was a recession and some had a very time getting a job. Interest rates at 18 percent. Almost impossible to buy any house unless it was a dump. My hisband a semi professional and he was out of work for 3 years. I am not saying we had it worse. I am just saying it was no picnic! I am jappybto see Alyssa and happy you sre doing podcasts again. When i was young for women you had maybe 5 possible career paths and that was all there was. I stayed home with the kids because I what i would of gotten paid i would of paid out in childcare. I stayed homectill they were in junior high. Those options were not available. Inflation is coming down and had been for the last 12 months.
