In the battle between Looker by Google and Microsoft Power BI, which business intelligence and data analytics platform should you choose? Let's break it down. **Features:** - Both Power BI and Looker offer excellent pre-built templates and tools for creating visually stunning graphs and charts. - Power BI boasts an easy-to-use interface with various customizability options, while Looker is more focused on in-depth analysis, especially for users proficient in SQL. - Power BI has a lower learning curve and is more flexible, whereas Looker has a steeper learning curve but offers more detailed analysis capabilities for SQL-savvy users. **Accessibility, Integrations, and Collaboration:** - Power BI offers accessibility from anywhere, integrates with Microsoft products like Excel and SharePoint, and supports third-party platforms like Salesforce and Google Analytics. - Looker integrates seamlessly with various third-party data platforms, productivity tools, and databases, facilitating collaboration and sharing within teams. **Data Visualization:** - Power BI is renowned for its powerful data visualization capabilities, with numerous templates available for creating striking reports, charts, and graphs. - Looker features streaming analysis for real-time data monitoring and allows for customization of visualizations through JavaScript, but its customization features may not match Power BI's level. **Pricing:** - Power BI offers various packages, including a free desktop version with restrictions, a Pro version for enhanced collaboration starting at $9.99 per user per month, and a Premium version for more potent features. - Looker provides custom pricing tailored to each organization's needs, with starting costs reportedly around $3,000 per month, but discounts are available for non-profits and schools. Ultimately, the choice between Power BI and Looker depends on your business needs, familiarity with Microsoft or Google tools, and budget considerations. Power BI may be preferable for those already using Microsoft products, while Looker could be a better fit for organizations embedded in the Google ecosystem. Evaluate your requirements carefully before making a decision. In conclusion, both Power BI and Looker have their strengths and weaknesses, so there's no one-size-fits-all solution. Consider your specific needs and preferences to determine which platform aligns best with your business goals.

One big drawback with Looker. They insist on performing operations on metrics. There is no option to use the data from your file as is, without an aggregation function performed, e.g. sum, avg, min max etc. There are lots of wFT comments in Looker's Help area, where Users are amazed they do this. It has to be a miss in their development process, as it couldn't be deliberate. In the technical and engineering space, your source data is listed entry by entry, and it is these specific values i need to plot, sans any operation by Looker. Power BI permits you to use your data without performing an operation, which is common sense.

A very average review, without good examples.
