April 15, 2023 - AM OFF TO JAPAN in a few days. Sifting thru my video archive of memories. When I lived in Tokyo- I loved to visit Harajuku. On display there on weekends, hundreds of teenagers and their elaborate costumed dance routines. "Gyaru" "Cosplay" groups they call them today. The scenes below went into a documentary film I wrote and narrated with ABC television colleagues in 1981. I wonder if today the children of these dancers may have followed their parents footsteps to the avenue of Omotesando in Harajuku. Great fun in 81!
